Post Ranks
« on: April 10, 2011, 05:12:25 PM »

In case you haven't notice, but OurBattleTech.com doesn't use the same post-based rank as CBT or other forums. Here, everyone is ranked the same regardless of the number of posts they have made. Changes to a member's "rank" is usually permission and/or control changes to help facilitate their forum needs. My question is, do members want to enjoy post-based ranks?

If so, is there a particular rank system you'd like to have? SLDF standard? DCMS? Lyran? WoB? Since post-based ranks are little more than a name and image change, the forum can rotate genres monthly if everyone wants. (It's really that easy.)

I'll leave the voting polls open until next Sunday - 04/17/2011

Thanks!

I've voted yes, i am happy the way things and was going to vote no but after i read that knightmare can rotate the ranks around the different structures monthly or settle on something other than SLDF standard i was conviced of the yes vote.

I like them, but lets develop our own rank structure for a bit of fun, so we all don't start bickering over which realms ranks to use.

Perhaps also have lwoer threshholds for rank increases than CBT, as we don't post as heavily here.  As an example see list below. Feel free to add, modify or change.

I would like to see a rotating system, even with Black's ranks incorporated. Other than that, only Kuritan ranks should be allowed. Although the catch is to outfit you unworthy scum with such noble shoulder pieces.

Do we really care for the number of posts?

Yeah I like the idea of rotating ranks sounds interesting, especially if the icons change too as you could be surprised when you go into your profile

Really, as long as there is an unbroken line of people calling themselves "Clan Nova Cat," it doesn't really matter to me if they're still using Iron Wombs or not. They may be dead as a faction, but as a people they still exist. It's not uncommon in the real world, after all.

So I left this open because it received a fairly lackluster response. Still, there are enough votes in favor of post ranks that I'm inclined to provide them for the forum.

The real question is this:

What order should the follow ranks be deployed? Please rank them in the order you'd like to have them operated accordingly.

SLDF
AFFS
DCMS
LCAF
FWLM
CCAF
RKA
TDF
MAF
AMC
Clan
ComGuard/WoB Milita

If you belong to a Membergroup you're entitled to a Custom Title of your choosing. Sadly, the option to allow membergroup members to change their own custom title isn't available. Still, a simple PM to me gets it changed.  :)

Randomise it, or we will all be arguing for our favorite faction from here until Kerensky returns.  Oh wait...

I could do that. Good suggestion.

We have 12 factions represented. We missing any? If not, I'll use dice to decide.
