The SLDF went to work immediately following the Amaris Coup to rebuild its shattered worlds and restore the glory of the Hegemony. Recruitment a new generation of soldiers from all around the InnerSphere was done in order to fill its heroic force. After all the core of the Star League's military was a rapidly aging force whose youngest members were now in their mid to late thirties. Volunteers who lacked formal training and resistance fighters made up the rest of the army. Their commitment and value to the SLDF was questionable at best. General Kerensky and many heroes of the liberation managed to attract a huge group of recruits in spite of daunting obstacles. These enthusiastic cadets, some of the best ever trained, gave their heart and soul to the League. In the end their dreams were crushed as the House Lords, Kerensky, and even the Last Cameron failed to save the Star League.
Declaring their disgust with the League's downfall a small group of these young soldiers led by a senior Lieutenant, John Daniels, gathered their families and possessions. Forming a unit of their own the group known as the Avengers struck out for parts unknown. The Avengers were so named because of their devotion to the bye gone Star League and its rapidly vanishing ideals. Unable to deal with the House Lords blatant greed, Kerensky's abandonment of the InnerSphere, and the Last Cameron's unwillingness to claim her rightful throne these men and women have vowed never to give up on the Star League like so many others have. Pledging to keep the honor and traditions of a now defunct organization alive these youngsters journeyed to the Periphery in search of a Star League base world.
Leaving the InnerSphere they disappeared for a number of years before reappearing as mercenaries hunting down pirates for an unknown benefactor. There reappearance was hardly noticed because of the now raging Succession War. The Federated Suns desperate for help against the Dragon and pirates plaguing their Periphery borders hired the Avengers without question to patrol its vast Outback region while other forces are sent to the front. The unit has performed admirably hunting down bandits (something it has become very adept at) and keeping the peace while Davion is hard pressed with Kurita's massive invasion.

Officers:
John graduated from Sandahurst Academy and the Gunslinger Program and was given a position of Mechwarrior in the 20th Dragoons Regiment. He started out as an enlisted Mechwarrior under the command of Jal Ward. His regimental commander was so impressed by his skills and sage advice that he rapidly ascended the non commissioned ranks as casualties climbed during the Amaris era. By the end of the Amaris Coup, John had attainted a commission in the SLDF and was a full Lieutenant. Prior to the Exodus he became disgusted with the military affaris of the Star League and felt his unit could do better on their own. His unit was made up of SLDF veterans from the 20th Dragoons and children of the 20ths fallen warriors. He began plans to depart the InnerSphere for an unihabited Periphery world he had been stationed on prior. The final straw came when Amanda Cameron renounced the Star League throne for the good of Terra. John and his group already heading towards the Periphery felt betrayed by her for not attempting to restore the Star League after the sacrifice of so many who sought to restore it. Daniels won't comment on his units fate after leaving the InnerSphere till their reappearance. Now Colonel John Daniels is a quiet, thoughtful man but when his mens lives are on the line he becomes a force to be reckon with. He is a fierce Mechwarrior, respected and feared by all who know him. Forty four years old he is looking foward to seeing his sixteen year old son take over the unit someday.

Tech Support
Currently the Avengers have a small but skilled staff of ex-Star League technicians who are capable of supporting 65% of the units operations. To make up for this shortfall Colonel Daniels has insisted all Avengers learn basic maintenance skills to aid these Techs.

Transportation
Two dropships, the Union class Avenging Angel and Burning Storm, handle the units interplanetary conveyance while a Scout class Jumpship (Burning Revenge) and the Invader class (Dark Storm) transport the Avengers through the stars.
