On a similar kick...
« on: January 11, 2013, 03:00:12 PM »

Like JP, I've been on a similar miniature kick - although I've focused my efforts exclusively to the collection of aerospace miniatures. However, unlike Mr. Arbiter, I haven't set a deadline for my efforts. (Sadly, a deadline of any sort is unlikely in the foreseeable future.)

That said, I've hit a wall. Namely, I'm not sure what to purchase next. My original idea was to build a nice little WoB fleet (of course!), but after purchasing the list below I'm now torn between a Word of Blake force and something else.

So, being the democratically-minded fellow that I am, I'm putting it to a vote. Whatever the community decides will ultimately determine the decals purchased from Fighting Piranha, and by default, the faction.

Here are the miniatures I currently have in my possession (I can and will purchase more - this is why your feedback is important)

1 McKenna
1 Luxor
2 Lola III
1 Black Lion
1 Riga
1 Sovetskii Soyuz
1 Naga
2 Invaders

1 Interdictor
2 Unions
1 Assault Triumph
3 Dictators

I have a ton of micro-fighters.

Ok folks, so what's the game plan?

The Wolverine refugee fleet, serioulsy.  They might be WoB, might not, but it would allow you to paint them in a scheme that suits you, as its not connonised yet, and have a very distinctive fleet.

The connonised Wolverine ground arm was on camospecs here: http://www.camospecs.com/Article.asp?FictionID=54

Used on spacecraft, it could look quite cool.

You know there is something wrong with the FWL, when Word's spell check changes Impavido to Impetigo and Zechetinu to Secretion.

Any other miniatures worth grabbing?

Sometimes I wish Ebay would stock more of the micro-vessels. Waiting for IWM, and paying their shipping costs means I have to buy bulk before purchasing any amount - just to make it worthwhile.

Well, if you go with my line of thought, some civilian ships, but perhaps picking up some battered second hand WarShip modles and carving them up to represent unrepaird cache ships and ships that have suffered during the flight.

The Interdictor and Assault triumph are WoB or Republic

The Naga SLDF or WoB

The Luxor and Dictator similarly SLDF but they've begun appearing everywhere so....

I'd be tempted to look for some Aegis most popular SLDF hull around fits into any fleet

I also like Blacknova's refugee fleet idea if they are all as one the Wolverines were led by a battered McKenna

Really, as long as there is an unbroken line of people calling themselves "Clan Nova Cat," it doesn't really matter to me if they're still using Iron Wombs or not. They may be dead as a faction, but as a people they still exist. It's not uncommon in the real world, after all.

Technically, the Luxor needs to go. The last one ate it during the Liberation of Terra...

For a Wolverine Fleet to be kinda close to canon I'd need to pick up a couple of Texas, and Vincent Mk 39s. Toss in one Whirlwind and I'd be pretty good. I might even be able to get away with adding the Riga for one of the ships named, but still lack a determined class.

I didn't realize how BS heavy the Wolverine exit fleet was until I looked this evening...

It makes sense.

So, being the democratically-minded fellow that I am, I'm putting it to a vote.

Did I miss something? Is it already April 1st?  :P
