After Action Report
Starting in a depression, the Hussars charged forward at the Cohorts. Taking up a firing line against the cover provided by the depression, the Hussars and Cohorts exchanged fire. In further exchanges, the Hussar’s Lynx took a pounding, falling down under the fire and the Centurion falls as it’s left leg gets destroyed. With momentum shifting the Cohorts way, Harden and Wang had some serious doubts they could compete with such a skilled unit.
However, the following exchange would bring some equilibrium back to the fight. The Cohorts circled to take out the fallen Centurion, destroying it by taking out the LRM ammo. However, the Hussar’s ravage the leg of the Champion, destroying all the internals sending it plummeting knocking the pilot out. Additionally, the Rifleman focused fired on one of the Cohort Whitworths, blowing it sky high trigging an ammo explosion. Then a kick from the Hussar’s Marauder send the leg of the Cohort’s Phoenix Hawk flying off.
In the following turn, the focus is on the Cohorts’ Marauder and remaining Whitworth, with the Marauder eating heavy fire sending it to the ground. In the subsequent exchange, the Marauder’s ammo is ignited, sending it up in a billow of smoke. The Champion, which had managed to right itself, get’s it’s already damage leg destroy, crushing its own arm bracing itself in the fall, rendering relatively useless. Then, the Cohort’s Warhammer is kicked in the leg, snapping its foot awkwardly, send it toppling over as well.
With the Champion and Phoenix Hawk legless and combat ineffective, the Hussar’s attention turns toward the battered Crusader, Warhammer, and Whitworth. A PPC shot to the gyro from the Thug, renders the Crusader neutralized as it falls under the PPC fire. The Warhammer, barraged by the Lynx, P Hawk, and Javelin gets destroyed by the final SRM from the Javelin, setting off the SRM ammo bin. All this at the meager cost of getting the left torso destroyed on the Hussars’ own Whitworth.
The Wolverine, nearly untouched is the next target of focus. Under withering fire, it remains standing for one exchange, but falls during the second. The Crusader, which was unharried attempted to stand repeatedly, continuing to fall eventually core itself out. The ailing Whitworth is decimiated by the Rifleman’s AC/10 volley, setting of the LRM ammo stored in the right torso.
With the Whitworth’s destruction the Cohorts called for a cease fire and to surrender, hoping to escape with their lives. The Cohorts’ Phoenix Hawk, Champion, and Wolverine were the only surviving ‘Mech, and only had 4 semi-functional legs between them and only one conscience pilot in the cockpit. After sorting out the Cohort’s ‘Mech warriors and ensuring they were honorably treated, the Hussars drug off the remaining functional ‘Mechs and any spare parts that could be had. All in all a very successful battle against a more skilled unit than the Harden-Wang Hussars and all at the price of a Centurion, half a Whitworth, and about 50 tons worth of armor.
