2014 World Series
« on: October 15, 2014, 10:55:33 PM »

I gotta bring this up because HOLY CRAP ROYALS!  I mean they are my team and all, but most Royals fans just kinda sit there quietly.  for 15 years we gave up hope around June, and now THIS!

So who do you think my boys in Blue will face?  the Dreaded St Louis Cardinals or the San Francisco Giants?

Los Gigantes should move through and it should be a good matchup. Madison Bumgarner will dominate the Royals, but I've got no confidence in the rest of their starters for them to win the series. The MLB will hate this matchup as TV ratings will be low, but the network will love it as it should go at least 5, maybe 6 games.

The Royals will have sat idle for too many days to be effective, offensively. Quick start to the NL team. Whether the Royals rebound or not, that's up to their resolve.

I don't know if the TV Ratings will be all that low.  Right now Kansas City is the hottest team in baseball and a beloved underdog story the likes of Boston a few years back.  I do know that in corss leauge play the royals performed well against both the Giants and Cards, with a combined record of 6-1...

at the same time, that will give the entire pitching staff time to rest up and get the kinks worked out.  I am not sure what the rules are in terms of training time during down periods in the post season, but I garuntee you everyone on that team will be working out and exercising between now and next tuesday.  Remember there was a six day wait to take on the Orieles after the Royals swept the Angels.

Thanks for saying it was baseball.

World Series? Are there any non US teams playing in it?

You don't need more than 3 days rest as a starter, and relievers can pitch three times per week, effectively. The rhythm of the offense and their ability to stay motivated is my concern. We'll see. :)

Personally I agree JP, but soccer seems to be on the rise while baseball is headed the other way.

personally I believe that is because FIFA is acting every year like MLB used to while MLB has been shying away from such waton acts of evil.

neither will ever approach the Disney Evil of the International Olympic Committee though.

Americans don't get that there is no such thing as soccer but the true football.

I hate being right, in some small way, but Madison Bumgarner and his very mighty left arm won this series for the Giants. Congrats to the Giants for the win and to the Royals who proved that the little guy can actually win.
