« on: February 16, 2014, 10:13:18 PM »

Smoke detector started chirping today so I climbed up on the stepladder and swapped the battery out.  ANDY YET IT STILL CHIRPS!!!!!!!

Maybe the battery I used was dead....  had been sitting around for awhile..  Didn't wanna get out tonight.  Grrrrr

It reminds me (but much less annoying) of this birthday candle that don't stop singing Happy Birthday.

Hey,

It could also be the detector itself, though I've heard of some that act a bit wonky if there's been a dust build-up as well (a burst of canned air can possibly clear that problem up, in that case). If it still chirps with the new battery, I'd look into a replacement detector.

Good advice Herb, I'll keep that in mind.  This one is hardwired into the buildings electrical and has had no problems since install.
