I really thought Australia could make it but failing an offensive in the last minutes and getting hit in the counter-strike did them no good.

The World Cup Winner in 2015 is New-Zealand.

France - Italy 23-21
France did not convince and managed to win. Their new coach has made some changes and tried to take a new approach following the latest results but so far, I wouldn't say it worked.
Italy hold the ground and kept on getting ahead on the score while Parise failed the drop at the last minute (but he did a great overall job). If Italy had had a good player for the kicking part, it would have won the day.

Scotland-England 9-15
England fought and won, showing a rugby of contest and pragmatism.
Scotland did the job and didn't let England win without a contest but lacked a little might/strength to get through when needed (a recurring Scottish problem).

Ireland - Wales 16-16
Ireland had a great first 30 minutes (13-0) before letting the Welsh disturb them and became unable to recover from this disturbance.
Even when the Irish managed to attack, the Welsh managed to hold them at bay while counter-attacking and being really close to score on several occasions.

France won by being able to hold the Irish for 3/4 of the game while not letting go away with the score and then turning the tables by a good made and more powerful scrum (it was either try or penalty try).
A contested game but not really encouraging for either teams for the future.

Wales - Scotland 27-23
Scotland managed to manage the Welsh for 60 minutes, getting back in the game and still in front of them at the 1 hour mark before making mistakes and letting Wales go ahead.

Italy - England 9-40
Italy hold for 50 minutes before letting everything go. My guess is that after letting the English score a try with an interception, they couldn't react for the next 25 minutes and let England score 5 tries.

Good result from England, we did seem to perform much better once we got the first try, not sure if that was a confidence thing or the interchanges or a combination of both.

And I think you forgot Italy taking this try when they were holding firm on an interception leading them to be a little lost.
