Good result from England, we did seem to perform much better once we got the first try, not sure if that was a confidence thing or the interchanges or a combination of both.

Shame for Scotland but they can't seem to stay error free for long enough to win a game.

And I think you forgot Italy taking this try when they were holding firm on an interception leading them to be a little lost.

I may be biased and have been drinking at the time  ;)

Wales-France: 19-10

France made mistakes which allowed Wales to score after having successfully defended for 30 minutes.
Wales played its usual game and did manage to defend against a French offensive for 12 minutes at a few meters of their goal line (which shows their limits).

Italy-Scotland: 20-36
Like France, Italy lacked enough efficiency (but added indiscipline) to get ahead in the game and were punished for that.
The Scot were more efficient and less messy, allowing them win even after finishing the game at 14.

England-Ireland: 21-10
The greatest game of the week-end.
The English dominated the first half time but did not manage to make a difference (6-3 at the half time).
The Irish even went ahead and played two times against a reduced English team but the English decided it was time to accelerate and managed to score two tries in a few minutes and then defended efficiently against the Irish attacks, even managing to counter-strike on several occasions in spite of being twice reduced to 14.

Good games all round, I wonder if we can do the grand slam now?

The next game between Wales and England should be interesting.

England played well for 60 minutes and then held on for the last 20.
Ireland hammered Italy.
Scotland played well and deserved there win over France, although they are probably not to happy in the win giving the title to England!

Wales - Italy: 67-14
Italy couldn't do anything and wasn't up against Wales but they didn't let it go and scored 2 tries. Wales was his usually self and scored again and again.

Ireland - Scotland : 35-25
The Irish kept the ball and managed to make the best of the 2 times they were in numerical advantage. The Scots did manage to put Ireland into difficulty from time to time bu they lacked someone able to play with his feet to bring some diversity into the game.
The end of the game was not so nice and there were small skirmishes between the players.

England - France : 31-21
Pragmatism and efficiency against willingness to play and do something. Guess what the first one won the game.
England and France were in par on the defensive and physical sides but where England was efficient in offensive actions, France made mistakes after mistakes and was not up to the task.

England wins this tournament with a Grand Slam.

Good end to the six nations, and doing the Grand Slam the hard way is always impressive.

Got to say the commentators (on the BBC) seemed to be making a big thing of the England players being fitter than their French counterparts due to the differences in the way both sets of players play in their respective home championships.

I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on that Ice?

I didn't find them fitter but less clumsy.

And the commentators... if I could turn the sound of their micros off...

Ah, yes if only, still there's always the mute button.

But I would miss the overall ambiance and the songs.

So only a couple of weeks until the start of the six nations, can England win it?
