Ref didn't see it, it didn't happen!

I know. Once he/she has ruled, it is law.

But they did look at it on screen for circa 5 minutes.

Ireland - Wales: 31-7
Wales brought a lot of new players that tried to do things and resisted against the Irish but they were too strong and pragmatic.
After the 20 first minutes where the Irish automatism weren't really there (somethings I saw in the last game too), they began to push forward and made the Welsh break a few times when needed.

Scotland - England: 30-21
Pragmatism and composure where part of the Scottish game. With a hat trick by Duhan van der Merwe and Finn Russel managing a perfect score with his foot, Scotland won in spite of a good beginning by the English.

France - Italy:  13-13
And Italy could have won if its shooter had scored at the last minute (the ball bounced off the post).
France had begin its game in a good way, with 10-0 at the 14 minutes but then they stayed in the 22m Italian zone without managing to score and then the Italian team performed well when it attacked in the second half (with France having lost a player for a red card).

For now, Ireland is the only team that can still make a great slam.

Next games on the 9th of March.

England-Ireland
Italy-Scotland
Wales-France

Seems like Ireland has it all wrapped up at this point and wow, Italy! For years the red-headed stepchild. Looks like they are finally moving up in the Rugby world.

For Italy, it really depends on the year and the opposing team. Although the Under 20 did beat France in the Under 20 6 Nations.

And for Ireland, the last two games are still tricky: England and Scotland.

Sorry Takiro for this late report, I was away and couldn't watch the games but here are the results and the comments of the official 6 Nations website

Italy-Scotland : 29-31

Despite being dominated in the game for long periods, the Italians never gave up. Better still, they showed themselves to be fiery and impetuous, not hesitating to throw the ball back from their own half. Heroic in defence and pragmatic on the score-sheet, Gonzalo Quesada's side secured their first victory in the Tournament since 2022.

England - Ireland : 23-22
Real intense game and decided at the last second with each team fighting back.

Wales - France : 24-45
With a largely reshuffled team, the XV de France secured a victory over Wales. Inspired offensively and solid defensively, the French team gradually made the Principality Stadium its own backyard.

All will be decided on Saturday (Wales-Italy at 15:15 my time, Ireland-Scotland at 17:45 and France-England at 21:00).

I was surprised by the England v Ireland result, was really expecting them to cruise to victory and make this final weekend irrelevant.

It seems like Wales has switched spots with Italy for the cellar dwellers spot. The Welch have been having a hard time of it.

So what are the scenarios? I hear Ireland still has the inside track to the top spot.

Both Ireland and Scotland have something to show.

With a draw, a victory or a defensive bonus point if they lose, Ireland will win the tournament (but no double Great Slam).
Scotland can win if they win with offensive bonus point and have 26 points or more against Ireland (I think it is the scored points you take into account and not the difference, which would change my calculations).

If Ireland lose and doesn't score any point (defensive or draw) and England wins against France with an offensive point, they would win. Without offensive bonus point, they need to win with at least 40 points (which means offensive).

If France wins with offensive bonus and 33 points scored and Ireland loses without any point and Scotland doesn't win with more than 26 points, France can win.

I was wrong for the calculations.

Wales-Italy: 21-24

Best turnament ever for Italy and the wooden spoon for Wales.
In spite of the score, Wales was never really dangerous for the Italians which had an iron defence until the 63 minutes (although their game was less efficient in the 2nd half-time).
Wales showed some little things but is going deeper into crisis and Italy is showing great things but let's wait for the next games (summer tour).

Ireland-Scotland: 17-13

Ireland is the turnament winner but not with 2 Great Slams in a row (something that never happened since the birth of the turnament).
Ireland wasn't really into the game (or not with their usual game) in the 1st half and Scotland was really heroic in defence (more than 227 tackles) preventing the Irish to score on several occasions. The Irish had panache and tried to score tries instead of going for penalties when they were in the 22m but the Scots almost never broke.

France-England: 33-31
Many different things in this game. A 80m try (by the French), The beginning of the second half-time, which showed the French being nowhere with England scoring 2 tries in 7 minutes but the French team reacted and in the end, it was a game with a lot of tries (3 for France, 4 for England) and suspense as well as a lot of intention.

So it is:
1. Ireland 20 points
2. France 15 points (perhaps with a little luck on the referees' side against Scotland and Italy but the referee is supreme)
3. England 14 points
4. Scotland 12 points
5. Italy 11 points
6. Wales 4 points

Felt like a very middling affair this time around except for Wales it seemed that no team was out of it. It never seemed like the Welch weren't competitive this year but every other team was. That usually seems to be Italy's role but it felt like they were in it with a good performance this time around. Everyone else seemed like they had a chance almost because the Irish didn't dominate.

The Irish are in-between with some new players coming in and even if they play as usual, some automatisms are not there.

And Wales is rebuilding a team, a lot of players were rather green and it showed.
