Well as the 6 nations starts again this Friday i figure its time to bump this back to the top and give my guess as to the final table.

1 - England
2 - France
3 - Scotland
4 - Ireland
5 - Wales
6 - Italy.

What do the rest of you think?

I can actually watch this event on BBC America this year. Maybe I'll give it a chance if it stops snowing.  ::)

Six nations is good, but lacks the flair of the Super 15, the provincial comp of South Africa, Austrlaia and NZ, which starts the week after.  Mainly due to differnt playing stlyes, but also due to the bonus point system used in the south that encourages more point scoring based on tries and not penalty goals.

Could you elaborate on the bonus point system?

If you score 4 or more tries, you get a bonus point.  If you are beaten, but finish within 7 points of the opposition, you get a bonus point.

So you can loose and still come away with 2 competition points from a game.  It encourages teams to try and score tries and to keep competing to the end.

A win with four tries give you 5 comp points, and a few wins like that and you rapidly head to a home semi-final.

Same system here.

Yeah the Premiership has used that system for a while.

Good win for England last night even though they didn't play the best rugby in the world.

End of the first weekend,

England beat Wales in Cardiff but didn't play the best.
Ireland squeeked past Italy in Rome right at the end of the game.
France beat Scotland but the Scots scored 3 trys and played well.

After these games i now think the final table will look like this:-

France
England
Scotland
Ireland
Wales
Italy

I agree, apart from Italy and Wales.  Italy showed they can stay with the top tesm on Saturday.  The Welsh were energetic, but headless and I think the Italians will account for them.

There we go, just gave Italy the kiss of death.

I didn't see the first match but the two others.

Italy-Ireland: Italy played rather well against a frenetic Irish team, with several players not playing.
Italy managed to resist the Irish furia and to get back from there.

France-Scotland: good offensive show on both sides but bad defence. Scotland played to win and never let it down.

It's nice to the the Scots retuning to form after 20 years of a downward slide.
