Gah...it's still football - foot+ball, it's got nothing to do with socks :P Anyway, there's only a couple of places, ahem, where it's called the "S" word.

Apart from the USA?

Austrlia for one... ;)

We should probably get this thread back on topic before BN gets back and has a 'spammy' moment.  ;)

As long as we keep the topic back on tracks before the next games...

GO THE TAHS!

Super 15 has started with the New South Wales Waratahs (Sydney) welcoming the new Melbourne team, the Rebels, to the competition with a 7 try, 41-0 romp.  Melbourne started well but could not convert posession to points and were eventually outplayed across the park.

Highlanders (Dunedin) from NZ also won thier first game, upsetting the Hurricanes (Welington) in a close and rather ordinary match.

And he's back  :)

and back on topic, in the English Championship its the last round of the regular season, my local team is already in the relegation playoffs and host the Bedford Blues who will finish 2nd and go into the promotion playoffs so a nothing game today.

In the relegation group are:-

Plymouth Albion
Escher
Mosley
Birmingham/Solihull

It is 6 games and 1 team down, we should be safe based on the season with Birmingham favorates to go down.

Auckland Blues upset the Cantabury Crusaders in a very close game and the then the ACT Brumbies (Canberra) beat the Waikato Chiefs in a very underwhelming display.  Once the Brumbies were the entertainers, now they are just predictable.

Is South Africa the current champions, the Blue Bulls, sqeaked past the lowly Lions and the Sharks spanked the Cheetahs, but then that was always going to happen.  Either the Lions or Cheetahs need to be dumped from the coomp and the Southern Kings brought into replace them.

Last game today is the Western Force (Perth) and the Queensland Reds (Brisbane).  Should be good to see if the Reds can repeat last years great running style.  With Quade Cooper marking James O'Conner, it should be a great game.
