Uh, if this is REAL football thread, why is everyone talking about English soccer teams and not the New Orleans Saints?   ;D

...because football is a game where you use your feet to kick a ball, handball is another game altogether ;)

Soccer only exists in a couple of countries...football in an awful lot more ;D

And yet the original Association Football rulebook refers to it as soccer.

Random rave and update:

Liverpool finally overcame their inability to overcome "lesser" teams... they actually lost to one... if you want roller coaster rides without going to the parks, just be a 'Pool supporter. Despite what Beckham says, I think Man City does indeed stand a very high chance of wrestling away the English Premier League from their red neighbours. I mean, c'mon, you'd have to totally deluded to not see what a great team they have, with a bench that would make most other managers' wet dream. Yes, they ain't too hot in Europe, but more of that later...

Real Madrid and Barca continue to steamroller their way over the Spanish league of course, with Valencia finally again showing that they are the OTHER team to beat...

Bayern Munich continues to top the German League, but the chasing pack isnt too far back. Frankly speaking, the German League has been entertaining these past few seasons, and its teams doing generally well in Europe too. PLUS, their current crop of national team players are young and hungry, AND they play well together as a team rather than rely on superstars. Seriously folks, I do believe the current team has managed to make themselves the team to watch once more.

Oh, and for those living under a rock, both Manchester teams are out of the Champions League. Bwahahahahaha... oh, sorry, did I laughed out loud?

+1 Vamp.

For Americans, being a 'Pool supporter is like being a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles or Flyers. Basically, you live to have your heart broken...

It's wonderful.

Any thoughts on yesterday evening match (you know which one, right? :P)?

Well, fed and beer in hand, I'm waiting for El Clasico to start. Whoever wins, it's bound to be n awesome game. Madrid vs Barca, Ronaldo vs Messi and Mourinho vs Guardiola...what more can you ask for?

It was an excellent game, but as usual Ronaldo bottled it. For some reason, whenever he plays against Barca (same for ManU) he seems to complain more than he plays. Madrid imploded after the second goal and Barca just got better.

Now we'll see whether Madrid can beat Sevilla to see if they can restore their 3-point lead, or whether they lose confidence.

Great stuff ;D

Just saw a report with the highlights of the Clasico game. Very interesting. And Cristiano Ronaldo certainly had not his best day.

Ciao

So the Mrs decided to buy us tickets for the new years game against Torquay at Plymouth Argyle only to find that there box office doesn't sell tickets over the phone!

Can anyone tell me how they are supposed to attract people to the games if you can only buy tickets from the ground during office hours when you are at work????
