The REAL Football Thread

Yep, no hand balls, nor discussions on play acting or masculinity. We're going to talk about the beautiful game - Messi, Ronaldo, Rooney (when he's not paying out a grand for a tart - strawberry that is), etc.

I'll do the Football Anonymous thing and say...Yes, I am and addict and I support Newcastle... ;D

I'm sorry. You must live with perennial disappointment.  ;)

Thoughts on the next Round of 16? Personally I think the Lyon v. Real Madrid Game will be the best game to watch. I expect Man U. to advance, maybe Chelsea (but they've been playing terrible lately - then again, I don't see Kopenhavn winning IMO) and Bayern.

Sorry Ice...

Can anyone else believe that Napoli is 2nd in the Serie A?!

I'd love to see an all English UEFA Final, (if only to see Arsenal beat Man U.) but I'm biased and don't care.  :P

Mate...Andy Carrol will do the business for you, if he can stay out of jail...love his quotes about drinking pints ::)

Best game to watch in the Champions will be the return leg in the Nou Camp - full on, got to score, mayhem.

Watch for Torres to break his duck in the Champions - he is a big game player. Man U will advance, but that's it. No more after this round, unfortunately.

In the Uefa Cup ( I know it's changed its name but I'm a sad old git), look out for Oporto (Kanoutes a mate of mine, but Sevilla were Sh*te), and Villareal will have their day.

Yeah, I know Gareth Bale's a star but Spurs are hjaving their moment. They need to feel Harry's influence for a couple more years IMHO.

Sorry, Real Madrid should blow Lyon away - it's been too long without a Cup. Ozil is awesome and all they have to do is keep Alonso, Ozil, Ronaldo and ow Adebayor on the park for a full 90 minutes.

Did I not say I have an opinion???

Couple more hours and it's Crawley Town versus ManU...will Fergie field a weakened side or is he after all the trophies left?

Got to follow others in the Cup seeing as the better teams have already been knocked out ;)

For the remainder of the round of 16 in the CL I too look forward to the return leg in Nou Camp. The first leg was quite entertaining...

I also hope that FC Bayern advances past Inter.

In the UEFA-Cup Bayer Leverkusen and Benfica also look like strong contenders.

P.S: If you haven't figured it already I support FC Bayern München....

Last year's CL final replayed - I hope Bayern go through too...

Today Real Madrid against Levante in the Bernebeu, with a win they go two points behind Barca in the League. Just what we need, some pressure on Barca would be good...

You know what? I only care about the Blaugranas  :)

My local team, Plymouth Argyle, have now gone into administration, thanks to the foreign owners who took over 2 seasons ago, when we we just missed out on a place in the play offs for the premiership a club that made a small profit every year now has debts of around £10 million, no good players left, they we're all sold and will be relegated for the 2nd time in 2 seasons.

Sad Rainbow.

The closest local team - besides Tampa's Rowdies is the return of the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers, taking the place of the Miami team.

I don't spend a lot of time following NASL, but I plan on checking out at least one Rowdie game time permitting.

Yup. Moved to Tampa last August. Was in South Florida before that. Been living in SoFlo since 2006.

Ouch! That sucks...

In the Bundesliga there are many sponsorship deals and two clubs are "supported" by large companies(Bayer 04 Leverkusen by Bayer and VfL Wolfsburg by Volkswagen) but over here in Germany it is usually not possible to outright buy and purchase a football club, because clubs are not corporations but associations, for which I am quite thankful.
I do not wish to ever experience a situation like FC Liverpool found itself in...
