Hey gang. I've been messing around with the idea of another alternate BT uni. What can I say my mind is full of them. Wink It takes place in the 3060s. The basics; an old PC of mine named Jeffrey Marik is born to Janos' oldest son in the 3010s. After his father is killed and Anton betrays Janos the old man decides to hide the child for his own good in the nearby Periphery. Growing up near the Marik Expanses he returns to Marik space after Thomas reappears on Atreus following his stay with ComStar. Proving his lost heritage Thomas decides to keep him around as an insurance policy and protege. The enigmatic Dark Eagle as he is known gradually climbs the ladder of the FWLM. From his first service in the Andurien War, to small unit actions during the 3040s, to his stay as a liaison to the DCMS during the Clan Invasion, to his first regimental combat command in Operation Guerreo, right up until Operation Bulldog when he commands the Marik Expeditionary Force he preforms admirably. (THIS IS WERE WE GO REALLY DIFFERENT, There is no Taskforce Serpent as the location of the Clan homeworlds remains undiscovered so the SL objective changes to pushing the Clans out of the IS, Nova Cat does join the DC as rulers of the Alshain Military District, Ghost Bear takes a Proxy Trail and joins the League as rulers of Rasalhague, they then drive into the Wolf OZ as the Reunification Trail of Clan Wolf begins, Wolf Dragoons and Wolf-in-Exile challenge the Crusader Wolves for the rite of rulership of their single Clan, this leds to the SLDF assault on the Jade Falcon OZ) Jeffrey pressing hard for a follow up assault on the Clans gets his wish when the Star League launches Operation Audacity a full scale assault on the Jade Falcon OZ. The success of this Operation despite the FedCom Civil War cements his high station. As Thomas learns of the Real Thomas embezzeling from the FWL he decides to do the unheard of retire and nominate Jeffrey as the next Captain General. The goal is to safe guard the League and fight the expanding influence of the Toyama sect in the WoB. So what do you think, before I drone on interesting or no?

Difficult. ComStar-sponsored Tommy Marik went to bed with the Blakists. Like opening Pandora's box, they insinuated themselves into every level of League society. Even with the nomination of a Marik born of Jano's line, you'd be hard pressed to curb the WoB. The only real safeguard against the WoB would be to prevent them from entering the League in 3052 to begin with. (Though if the League was closed, they would have moved into either the Confederation, which happened to a lesser extent, or to the Periphery. Which also happened.) The point being that the Jihad would have went down no matter what, though the House in question would have changed, to a small extent. (I still think the Regulans would have courted the Wobbies no matter - especially given Tommy Marik's strengthening of the Federal govt.)

Another problem with a Jano's heir under Tommy Marik's wing is the same problem faced by the current Tommy Marik. When the Blakists blow the whistle on his identity, all credibility is blown as well. So any connection of nomination will be viewed with intense suspicion, if not down right hostility. Again, a Civil War in the making.

My pence.
