So, for a change of pace from layout, just writing fluff in my spare time and breaks at work.  Posting pictures is going to really save time when I go back to layout and fix the damn L- and A-trailers for the wheeled BA, but I just wanted a change.  -And I'm doing more yardwork, so thinking about fluff fills the wasted time.

First of the Serpentus Series of Omnivehicles, the Pestilence is kind of a runner up.  If it didn't have 16 tons of cargo and able to be kicked out of high-altitude DS there wouldn't be much call for it.  Normally used in combat where VTOLs are a little too fragile to risk the rotor kill, it was 3rd or 4th most successful.

*Ugh.  Stupid typo, thought I fixed that.  There are only 10 H-Drone Cubicles for 15 tons.  Fixed. in the document.

**May or may not do an internal bomb bay to match the picture, depends on the number of lines of text it would need to describe it.  Right now, the ability to use dropchutes to deploy drones and cargo is more useful.  Can't really think of any use for a bomb bay on a WiGE right now.

You can make high altitude drops with Wiges?
I need to look at them.

Yeah.  One of the aerospace guys was really interested fireangel, or something?  I posted in the topic too, anyway.

It's going to be a great way to build Blakist Caches in my AU.

Micro-Drone Cubicle, Light-, Medium-, and Heavy.  Basically, different sizes of packing/launch boxes.  Here's a pic.

JDP is the IlKhan's 'Joint Development Program'.  Think DARPA, the 'Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency' of the US military.  In the AU, they take money, resources, and personnel from across the Legacy Cluster and add a whopping dose of Handwavium from the Prometheus Database to explain why they aren't still fighting with sticks and rocks.

*edit:  oh, and the one variant can only carry 10 H-DCs.  Although it apparently has 4 external pylons, so I think it should be able to carry any of the Micro, Light, or Medium 'Racks'.  Of course, those drones will have to be VTOL or conventional aircraft :) or they'd just crash.

So are the top ones the masses for drone cubicles for Wheeled Battle Armor?

Edit: Also, there are rules to build Drones in Battletech as small as 50kg?

Yeah.  The BA is too small, really, for lots of racks - they're going to primarily be used by guerrillas and others, so they can 'leave the trailer at the campaign's sort of thing, then clean and pack them up and leave.

I was going for something to put on vehicles and stuff (can't see anybody wasting mass and space on Mechs), and the 1-ton Rack is going to be it.  These racks aren't just for ground vehicles, VTOLs, planes, and Wiges are going to get in on it.

And if it isn't possible to make a 100 pound drone, I'm just going to fake them up and be done with it.

...This might just be my hyperfixated mind asking, but why are the drones Micro, Light, Medium, and Heavy instead of Light, Medium, Heavy, and Assault?

Light, medium, heavy, and assault are mechs, vehicles, ASF, DS - but drones range from 'carry it in one hand'-Micro drones to heavy (about a ton) to Light vehicles, medium vehicle, and some heavy vehicle drones.

I needed some way to differentiate them, and to my mind 'Assault drones' between 500-1000 kg is underwhelming.  So, 'micro drones'.

*for some reason, that scene from Big Hero 6 keeps running through my head.  'Microbots!'

Really, as long as there is an unbroken line of people calling themselves "Clan Nova Cat," it doesn't really matter to me if they're still using Iron Wombs or not. They may be dead as a faction, but as a people they still exist. It's not uncommon in the real world, after all.

Thanks!  Almost done the group of them, it's the layout that's taking so can long, but I'm on the last two and I think I can copy the layout from the 2nd and 3rd.

Yeah.  It's going to let me write less fluff, not a bad thing with so many entries.

The reintroduction of drone warfare certainly fits ComStar/Word of Blake faction perfectly. I say reintroduction cause the late Succession War era in which Battletech began featured few such devices. With their increasing use in the real world of our 21st century their 'renaissance' makes alot of sense.

Yeah, but with the war in Ukraine, we see it playing out.

I feel kind of guilty - in the game, Peter S-D wants a 'clean' war, but his son and the fanatics try war crimes to cow the rest of the Cluster.  It gets the Pythons home planet nuked, the Civil Government swept clean in a war crimes trials (prove you aren't part of it or be executed), and 2-3 Wob  colonies nuked without mercy.

Hope it doesn't happen in real life.
