Can I Get Some Assistance, Please?

Good afternoon, everyone.  I need some info from all of you experts:  Romano and Kali Liao (with the Thugee cults) gassed what worlds in what year?  If I remember right, it was Chaos March worlds, right?  This is for yet another idea for a story that I have had, so if you could help it would be great.  Just so you know what the story is about, I include what I have done so far below.  If you have any ideas or suggestions, feel free to let me know.  I don’t even a title yet, so if you have ideas there, it would also be much appreciated.

“saKhan Nelson Elam of Clan Goliath Scorpion.  You have something to add to these proceedings?” asked Ulric Kerensky, ilKhan of the Clans of Kerensky.

“I do, ilKhan Kerensky,” the tall Scorpion said as he stood, adorned in his dress uniform—like all of those present aboard CWS Dire Wolf for the Grand Kultari, the Council of Khans.  “My Khans, we Scorpions are advocates of the Warden cause, as you are all very much aware.  We—and others—were defeated by the vote of this Council, however, and so we went to war.  We invaded the Inner Sphere in our glorious Operation Revival to reform the Star League.”

“It has not turned out quite the way which we planned, quineg?  No, it has not.  Our first ilKhan has lain dead for more than a year—dead aboard this very ship—from the attack of a single Warrior of the Inner Sphere.  Our foes have proven more resilient—and our methods of waging war less successful—that our prewar planning provided for.”

Asa Taney of the Ice Hellions stood; his narrow, pinched face flushed and hot with blood that his anger had churned.  “And now you wish to say—after the fact, no less!—that you told us so?  That you and your Wardens warned us of this?  Why are you wasting our time on recriminations and the past when the business of today remains to be done?”

“I thank my Hellion brother for his concerns.  No offense has been taken by either my Khan or myself for his remarks; after all we Scorpions are long renowned for our obsession over the past.”

Chuckles rose from around the room at that understatement, as Asa Taney frowned and sat down once again.

“No, my Khans, today we speak of the future.  My Clan is Warden—nearly half of those gathered today in this chamber espouse the same beliefs.  And yet, what is a Warden?  We claim to want to protect the Inner Sphere until they are ready to reform the Star League.  We claim to have a desire to protect and nurture them from all threats until they see the light which our Founder shared with us long ago.  But do we really?  Do we?”

“We stood against this invasion, this Operation Revival for so long, and yet a single exploration ship that found our Homeworlds sparked panic among you.  Gasp,” he said theatrically, as he clapped his hands to his cheeks, “they found us!  It is the precursor to an invasion, so we must strike them before they hit us.  It was our FEAR of them that sparked this invasion.”

A sibilant hiss went through the room and then most of the assembled Khans were on their feet shouting down the Scorpion who held the floor.  Taney’s flushed face had turned puce, while the snarl of Lincoln Osis, Khan of the Smoke Jaguars almost matched that of his Clan’s totem.  The other Khans were equally disturbed, expect for the senior Khan of the Scorpions, Alexia Suvorov, who sat and shook her head.  But the corners of her lips were turned up in a faint smile, Ulric noted as he sat and watched the chaos.

Who would ever have thought a SCORPION would deliver such an indictment upon them all?  He wondered for what purpose could Elam be baiting the Council, and why Suvorov was letting him.

“FEAR, my brothers and sisters; it was FEAR and AMBITION that drove us that day.”  The Khans slowly subsided as Elam calmly continued.  “The ambition of those most powerful among us to set foot upon Terra and become the ilClan, the one who would rule over the remainder for now and forever, its senior Khan as our ilKhan.  But that dream died on the plains and the forests and the swamps and the hills and the mountains of Tukiyad did it not?  Now we are bound in place by the Truce until 3067.”

“We have deceived ourselves, my Khans, which is the worst thing that a Warrior can do.  We Wardens have deceived ourselves, lied to ourselves, and made fools of ourselves.”

Now the Chamber was mausoleum quiet once more, as each Khan struggled to make sense of what Elam was saying, though those Khans who were Warden shifted slightly in their seats.

“Protect the Inner Sphere?  That was our excuse for all these years, an excuse to oppose the Crusaders and prevent them from gaining power and authority.  What exactly are we supposed to protect?  The same corrupt governments that shattered the Star League and sent our ancestors into exile behind General Kerensky?  The same so-called Great Houses that agreed on nothing but their own mutual annihilation for over two centuries?”

Nelson Elam shook his head in a weary—yet empathic—NO.  “We ignored what should have first and foremost among our creed, fellow Wardens.  We FAILED in our self-appointed duties to protect the PEOPLE of the Inner Sphere.  Not from outside threats, but from their own corrupt and evil leaders.  The Crusaders were RIGHT that the time had come for us to take up our duty and return; to deliver the common people to the just society of Nicolas Kerensky and the glory of the Star League.”

Ulric frowned at this.  Where was the Scorpion heading?

“We have all heard of this, this atrocity perpetrated by Romano Liao upon CIVILIANS on [INSERT NAME OF WORLD/S HERE].  Chemical weapons and biological weapons were used on civilians my fellow Khans.  Her own daughter leads the Thugee death cult that is slaughtering her own people by the thousands.  And yet, we stand here, arguing among ourselves while this takes place.  It is not in our ‘invasion zone’ after all; it is on the other side of the Inner Sphere.  Terra is our final goal; Terra and the power and authority of the ilClan.  We lie to ourselves, you who claim to be Wardens when we sit and watch this horror take place.”

“WE ARE THE CLANS OF KERENSKY,” Elam boldly proclaimed as he swept his hand across the air before the seated Khans.  “We are better than this; we have a duty to do more than just sit and watch as an insane and dezgra ruler slaughters her own people.”

The Scorpion lowered his head, and spoke softly enough that many Khans were forced to lean forward to hear his words.  “We cannot allow this to continue, my brothers, my sisters.  I cannot allow this to continue.  My Clan will not allow this to continue.”

Nelson Elam looked up, and squarely looked into the eyes of Ulric Kerensky, ilKhan of the Clans.  “I call for a Trial of Annihilation against Romano Liao, Kali Liao, the Thugee Cult, and all those who follow them.”

The junior Scorpion Khan nodded his sharply and sat down, as Ulric watched him with dawning horror at his proposal.  For a WARDEN to propose such an action was unthinkable!

Cassius N’Buta stood, and his face was lit with a beaming smile.  “Despite his earlier remarks, I find myself moved by the words of the saKhan of the Scorpions.  I second the motion.”

Ulric Kerensky sat back heavily against his chair—this proposal will destroy the truce, and we will be once again be at war with the full power of the Inner Sphere arrayed against us.  All I have worked for will be for naught, he thought.  And yet, as he saw Khan after Khan—Warden and Crusader alike—agree to the motion, what else can I do?

You're refering to the Black May attacks yes?  Romano was dead by then, she died in 3052.
The attacks hit a number of worlds over the month of May in 3062.  Wei, Indicass, St. Loris, Nashuar and St. Ives are amongst the most prominant worlds to suffer from attacks.

So that is post Refusal War--Ulric is dead, Osis is ilKhan, quiaff?  Burrock Absorption has already happened as well.  Has Bulldog/Serpent been launched at this time?

I could have SWORN I saw something about Romano using WMD, not just Kali.

Well you could say that Candace Liao died with her husband Justin Xiang Allard in 3052 at the hands of Capellan assassins. Hence no assassination of Romano cause nobody has the connections Candace did to infilitrate the inner sanctum.

If this happened perhaps the Confederation was silly enough to attack St. Ives or FedCom with WMD in a Word of Blake fashion. While the WoBbers might be friends of the Thugees there is no FWL alliance and the Capellans would simply be crushed by a FC, FWL, possibly a Periphery counter assault.

I do like the premise, the Scorps are just well...neat.  I could see either creating an alternate like Tak said or updating it to take place during the St. Ives conflict.  For more info see the Capellan Solution trilogy by Loren Coleman.  Decent read.  Look forward to reading this tale.
