If people determine how many extra people arrived when, I'll just plug that into the list I have and then give populations at certain dates as requested.

If people determine how many extra people arrived when, I'll just plug that into the list I have and then give populations at certain dates as requested.

Say . . . 10,000 in 2400, another 20,000 in 2450, plus 20,000 in 2500, followed by 10,000 in 2550, and 80,000 in 2600.  I figure that the population would arrive over the fifty year time frame in question.

The big jump in 2600 represents people fleeing the Reunification War and the formation of the Star League.  The rest are just people heading out from the normal turmoil of the Age of War.

That would mean that in 2712 the population would be between 16,735,872 and 104,762,528

Well we got a lot of time to play with guys and we can introduce new numbers (people) when we story them in.

Now can I brief you guys on an idea long in development? It is the combination of many House campaigns that I've been molding for BTSD but generally that sounds a lot like yours. Plus it gives the Star League a good reason to deploy a secret Corps out this way. Credit in a big way also goes to Sir Robin for the Omega Protocol.

The Aurolian Star Cluster and the Cerulan League

The Aurolian Star Cluster lays deep in the anti-spinward of the Orion Arm far from Terra. Some early interstellar astrologists interested in finding habitable areas of space for human colonization postulate this blue nebula is such a fertile area. Several expeditions are lost due to the unusual properties of the Cluster and the Alliance writes it off as a hazardous area for space travel. Generally it is avoided thereafter with the exception of desperate persons wanting to escape pursuers.

This is until the high science Star League comes along and decides to do a more in depth exploration. It establishes a science outpost nearby and discovers that Expeditions that have gone in survived in many cases. Several thriving mini Houses in fact established themselves restoring inter cluster travel by repairing their jumpships. After careful study and the discovery that the Cluster had been seized by Rim World fanatics the League decides to liberate the region. Modifying its ships to operate in the region this little known action represents the last gasp of the Reunification War.

The Omega Protocol was devised by First Lord Jonathon Cameron as a worst case scenario that established a fall back position for the Terran Hegemony and the Star League if his visions came to pass. Run by CIB Director John Smith it secretly moved the best Terrans had to offer (people, technology, infrastructure) to the Periphery and established a base of operations in a secure location. This base was the Aurolian Star Cluster.

This Star League fallout bunker was complete with an Omega Cameron who would become the First Lord in case of the League’s fall. An Omega Hegemony would be established with portion of the Black Watch to protect this last Cameron. However, opposition from within the fairly secure Star Cluster where Smith chose to place the Omegans prevents them from discovering the Star League’s fate. The Star League’s 295th BattleMech Division (the Blue Star Division) comes to the rescue but the InnerSphere is already at war.

They establish a mini League and await the time when their Cameron will regain the throne. The High Lord’s power is sort of usurpered by a League military commander (think the Emperor of Japan during the Shogunate). Why you ask well I figured it could make for a pretty interesting end game when the SLDF returns. What do you think?

I think we can work (something like) that in.   ;D  I love the idea of the Omega Protocol.

I'm rubbish with figures/percents but lets have a look over the thread and see what we have...

BASIC TIMELINE - the Question marks (bolded) need answers tick them off and I'll mod post

2314 – Marks the breakdown of the Alliance as Expansionists and Liberal gangs start a civil war on Earth

2315 – McKenna reacts with the AGM and Colonial Marines halts the violence

2316 – McKenna is elected Director-General in February of the new Hegemony
        - Alex Cross leads 80+ ships away from the Hegemony looking for a new start travelling beyond the Inner Sphere boundaries into the periphery.

2321? - Perth is founded far beyond other borders
          - Dunedin is founded

2322? - Colonization of the moon of Churchill in a system one jump from Perth
          - Formation of Commonwealth Militia Forces to defend Perth and scout out other systems

2323? - Formation of the Churchill Defence League and unofficial part of the Commonwealth Militia Forces

2328 - Discovery of New Holland and the Germanium asteroid belt

2330 - Founding of London Penal Colony on New Holland

2331 - Founding of Belfast Penal Colony on New Holland

2334 - Beginning of construction of the Manchester Penal Colony space station in orbit of New Holland

2340 - Manchester Penal Colony is completed in orbit of New Holland

2342? - Formation of Commonwealth Defence Force as more independent colonies are formed and require defence from sporadic but persistent raider groups.  CDF supersedes in training and equipment but the two work together on defence and law enforcement.

2345 - Founding of Dublin Penal Colony on New Holland

2352 - Founding of the Aberdeen Penal Colony on New Holland

2370 - Founding of the Glasgow Penal Colony on New Holland

2378 - Glasgow Penal Colony's facilities on New Holland are upgraded to build Danais Cargo DropShips to continue to assist the growth of the CSC.

2712 - SLDF Exploration vessel discovers Southern Cross

2713? - Star League Embassy established on Perth

2715? - SLDF Garrison is assigned to the defence of the region

2720? - Unhappy at being superseded by the SLDF on defence and law enforcement the Churchill Defence League goes rogue from Churchill stealing two Aquilla-class Transport JumpShips and their militia weapons and equipment.

2721? - First official act of terrorism by the CDL against the SLDF Embassy on Perth - 10 people killed by a car bomb

2743 - Increasing pirate raids in response First Lord Simon Cameron orders the formation of a new Corps for the Commonwealth of the Southern Cross Region.

2745 - LXXIII Corps is formed
        - Baron Kilmacrennan Traders (BKT) from the Lyran Commonwealth are hired to assist in moving Corps into area and keeping them supplied
        - Star League department of communications orders construction of HPG network on the CSC worlds and an extended DRUM network back to the Inner Sphere.

2747 - LXXIII officially arrives on station instantly goes on offence against raiders quickly ending the raids after a batch of heavy fighting.

2748 - Construction of Port Jackson on outskirts of Perth system including 2 habitats, an Unpressurized yard and a Capitol defence station.
        - Increased actions by CDL against SLDF and CSC Governmental facilities

2749 - Gaining support the 28th Support Squadron arrives to support SLDF naval and ground assets.
        - Joint SLDF/CSC effort to terraform the Sahara system into a three world system instead of the current barely inhabited world.

2750 - Sahara Project fails to bring real results with both part terraformed worlds abandoned in their current state which is lethal to human life with an atmosphere that confuses most sensors.  These worlds are dubbed "The Wastes" unfortunately the world of Sahara often gets thrown in when these worlds are mentioned ruining that worlds reputation as well beginning a constant migration of people away from Sahara.

2750 - Port Jackson is officially operational

2751 - Simon Cameron dies
        - CDL become very active in Wastes area bringing the worlds to the attention of SLIC but they are almost impossible to pin down.

2768? - SLS Pensacola (Cameron), SLS Madison (Congress), SLS Kartheiser (Vincent), SLS Lecavalier (Vincent) and 12 JumpShips arrive at the Perth jump point.  The convoy is overdue by six months and ever ship in the convoy has suffered heavy damage after being raided throughout the periphery region.  All of the ships require extensive refit before they can travel.  Rest of convoy 5 WarShips and 19 JumpShips lost (regiments - to be determined lost)

Amaris Coup Kerensky recalls unit (needs date) - unit ignores recall date fortifying their position after a new batch of pirate raids.

(Need date) - 1x Squadron of WarShips filled with volunteers heads back to the Inner Sphere after not hearing from the Star League in (how many years?).  These WarShips arrive in the Lyran Commonwealth (where?) and are almost immediately attacked by Lyran forces.  They retreat into the Free Worlds League where they are again attacked 1 ship escapes (which one?) heavily damaged returning to the CSC as the First Succession War engulfs the Inner Sphere.

(Need Date) - CSC Government and SLDF (now national) troops choose to isolate Southern Cross from Inner Sphere for duration of Succession Wars or for how long the Government chooses.  All civilian transports with data that would take them back to the Inner Sphere have their data scrubbed with that information only existing on Military vessels.

2995 - Birth of Martin Knight on Dunedin

3013 - Martin Knight is sentenced to life in prison at the New Holland Penal Colony for the murder of his parents

3023 - Martin Knight turns up on Sahara and gets the attention of local CDL informants.

3024 - Martin Knight leads a CDL attack on the New Holland Penal Colony settlement of Glasgow stealing 3 Danais-class DropShips.  Following the raid the CDL are upgraded once more to a Terrorist Organisation.

Really, as long as there is an unbroken line of people calling themselves "Clan Nova Cat," it doesn't really matter to me if they're still using Iron Wombs or not. They may be dead as a faction, but as a people they still exist. It's not uncommon in the real world, after all.

2768-2784 - Sporadic contact with SLDF reestablished.  General Kerensky does not relieve or replace LXXIII Corps commander (Genera Philip Hunt).  No additional supplies arrive.

late 2783 - Representative of Kerensky arrives on Perth with orders for the Exodus.  General Hunt refuses the order to abandon the CSC.  This decision causes shockwaves throughout LXXIII Corps when it becomes public knowledge in 2785

                - Congress of the Southern Cross votes to end the Quarantine and tentatively begins to ready an expedition to establish contact with the Inner Sphere.

That is my ideas on the timeline.

Couple of things especially if we combine ideas with the Cerulean League and all. I'd have the Corps present not even known to Kerensky it is so compartmentalized and secretive (the Omega Protocol that is). Oh and rather than a number Corps can we call it the Star Guard Corps? Really miffed the got rid of it after the Reunification War. This way we could keep it.

Amaris might find out through Richard after he clears the SLDF out of the Rim Worlds. Another gift. He might not know of an Omega Cameron but this area and its troops could have been another threat to the Usurper as a base of operations near his territories.

Let me know if you want to integrate the ideas. I have other groups and a timeline myself for the Aurolian Cluster.

The Periphery Uprising begins 2765 when 50 Periphery BattleMech Divisions attack.

For those interested I located Sir Robin a year ago after several years of silence. He was on my first forum and was an excellent contributor. His blog is located below with his ideas for Omega which I altered to fit my Star League in Exile storyline. Enjoy!

The Twins

Star (Recharge Time):  Southern Cross 117 (190 hours)
Star Type:  G9V
Number of Planets:  12 (including five gas giants)
Time to Jump Point:  5.8 days
Recharging Station:  Zenith, Nadir

Planet:  Apollo
Position:  3 (tidally-locked with Artemis)
Planet Type:  Rocky
Gravity:  0.88
Atmospheric Pressure:  Standard
Atmospheric Composition:  Nitrogren, Oxygen
Percent Surface Water:  58%
Percent, Level of Native Life:  50%, Birds
Satellites:  1 (Artemis)
Population (2766):  310,000
Population (3025):  152,000,000
HPG Station:  Class B
Planetary Capital:  Laurel

Planet:  Artemis
Position:  3 (tidally-locked with Apollo)
Planet Type:  Rocky
Gravity:  0.88
Atmospheric Pressure:  Standard
Atmospheric Composition:  Nitrogren, Oxygen
Percent Surface Water:  70%
Percent, Level of Native Life:  85%, Birds
Satellites:  1 (Apollo)
Population (2766):  429,000
Population (3025):  234,000,000
HPG Station:  Class B
Planetary Capital:  Aegis

Description:  Artemis and Apollo are the eleventh and twelfth (respectively) planets colonized by the Congress of the Southern Cross.  Apollo is an arid world, with shallow seas and broad deserts, while its sister planet Artemis is wet and fertile.  The two planets share the same orbit, revolving around a common center point (making the tides on both worlds rather spectactular).  Each is roughly 80% the diameter of Terra, but sightly more dense, resulting in a gravity of 0.88-g's.  The low gravity has made these two planets (but especially the heavily forested and fog-shrouded Artemis) very popular for colonization.  Both worlds possess rich mineral deposits, but only Apollo has been mined and supports heavy industry.  Artemis instead has concentrated on feeding both worlds.  Each is a seperate member of the Southern Cross Congress, but the two delegations normally vote together on most proposals.  This has angered some older and more populous worlds whose leaders believe that The Twins should have just ONE voting delegation in Congress.

Politically, however, the two are beginning to differ.  Apollo is home to the political wing of the CDL (the Churchill Provisional Authority), granting it some voice in the Congress.  Artemis is a staunch (almost fanatical) supporter of the Southern Cross government and stands vehemently opposed to the CDL.  This split has caused tension between the two, leading to an increase of violence over the past decade.

like The Twins

liking the core timeline as well.

Unsure of the Omega Protocol.

It depends where the CSC is going?  ie where it is intended to end? - I know contact with the Inner Sphere but assuming they don't lose all their tech by some unknown cataclysm during the timeline they still have WarShips, Star League organisation and weapons - they are a massive threat to the IS in 3025 era - but do they want to be?

Is this an invading realm?  Or a periphery kingdom or people who wish a utopia away from the corrupt house lords.  The biggest meaning by this is the Clans were formed away from the Inner Sphere and flourished (mostly) if they had chosen to forget the Inner Sphere and expand the other way they would likely have become something greater... (idea :) is the Southern Cross obsessed with the Inner Sphere or out for itself?  This is going to be (I'd say influenced heavily by the SLDF unit that is garrisoned there but also heavily by the descendants of the region)

Alex Cross (founder) left because he couldn't live under McKenna would he want his people to be returning to rule what he intentionally left?

Would they even want more than tentative contact with the Inner Sphere - what does it have to offer them?

We also need to figure out a line of succession is it the Cross family or is it more democratic?

How long did Alex Cross live did he influence the develop of his nation or just found it?

Michael Cameron II's youngest son William Cameron married (much to the distress of his family), a younger daughter of the Protector of the Taurian Concordat while serving as Ambassador of the Star League on Taurus.  This branch of the Cameron family (which adopted the name of Calderon-Cameron) was ended during the Amaris Coup.  Or so history has recorded.

History is wrong.  In 2744, First Lord Simon Cameron enacted what would become known as the Omega Protocol, based upon an idea outlined by First Lord Jonathon Cameron decades earlier.  Omega was a secret protocol dealing with the possibility of a decaptitating strike against the government of the Star League, it called for the establishment of a duplicate government, including an heir to the throne of Humanity.  This secret (only recently uncovered by ComStar archivists) record that the First Lord decided to establish a secure line of succession in the case of disaster in the distant worlds known as the Southern Cross Colonies (EDITOR'S NOTE:  This nomenclature is uncertain.).  He turned to his cousin, Dame Elizabeth Calderon-Cameron, and convinced her to move with her family to the world of Perth in the Southern Cross and serve as the Ambassador as well as the designated Omega heir.

Elizabeth accepted this commission.

At the same time, Simon Cameron arranged for all vital functions of the Star League bureaucracy to be duplicated and he dispatched the LXXIII Corps (EDITOR'S NOTE:  Yes, a previously unknown Star League Corps apparently existed . . . no further references have been located.) upon which he bestowed the honorific of the Star Guard Corps to the Southern Cross as well.

The records on the Omega Protocols end with the death of Simon Cameron, however.  No further mention of either the Calderon-Cameron line of Elizabeth or the "Star Guard Corps" appears in the known archives.  With one exception.  General Aleksandyr Kerensky dispatched a ship which filed a flight plan to a system called Perth in 2783 carrying a high-ranking officer.  One year later, a hand-written note by General Aaron DeChavilier simply states that the Star Guard will not be returning for the Exodus.

The archivists who assembled this report request that Exploration Branch be assigned to seek out this Southern Cross, which we believe lies beyond the border of the Circinus Federation.  Should a remnant of the Star League actually survive, their existence could prove a threat to the long-term goals of ComStar.

That actually works quite well...

although it potentially changes the timeline slightly

it states a squadron returned to the Inner Sphere - would they return since they know Kerensky is gone and the SLDF left?  It would still make a good intelligence operation

If they were returning I think the surviving ships of the Pensacola Convoy supported by the Mississippi (Texas), Randolph and Talbot (both Lola III) with only the SLS Pensacola or SLS Mississippi returning.  Reason behind it the Pensacola Convoy was never intended to remain it was supposed to return home and probably end up destroyed during the Coup.  The crews have little invested in the CSC so they are likely more interested in what is left of their homes.

Overall I'd say the Mississippi is the only one to get out because the Pensacola sacrifices itself to let her get away.

Really, as long as there is an unbroken line of people calling themselves "Clan Nova Cat," it doesn't really matter to me if they're still using Iron Wombs or not. They may be dead as a faction, but as a people they still exist. It's not uncommon in the real world, after all.
