new lawman in town
« on: June 02, 2015, 09:03:40 AM »

this is my take of a new national law enforcement agency created by richard calderon  in 2361 due to colonization and planets joining the concordat . all members have been seconded from established police forces and the taurian military
basic to&e taurian ranger companies/without hq units
1st platoon
2  battlemech ?
2   tanks
2   tanks
3   jump infantry maniples/with apc's
3   mechanized infantry maniples/with apc's
3   foot infantry maniples/with apc's
2nd platoon
2    battlemechs ?
2     tanks
2     tanks
3     jump infantry maniples/with apc's
3     mechanized infantry maniples/with apc's
3     foot infantry maniples/with apc's
3rd platoon
2      battlemech ?
2      tanks
2      tanks
3      swat maniples/with hover apc's
4th platoon
3      swat maniples/with helo or vtol transport
2      helo or vtol gunships
air lance
2       asf ?

all ranger companies come with organic support units as part of the basic to&e

i'm not sure what battlemech or other vcles might have been available in this time frame , so any suggestions would be much appreciated .

No battlemechs until the Toro is introduced in 2481.  Not sure that we have any periphery vehicles for that time period.

How does this mix with the Concord Costabulary?

And I thought that the first move by the Taurian Concordat on any new colony was to raise a militia unit.

I am not sure about the BattleMechs too and the mixed units doesn't seem the right approach for now (unless you fluff a little more your unit) as it will just spread the main punch between the different units.
It reminds me a bit of the French approach to tank warfare in 1940 with most of their tanks being split in support of the infantry units while the Germans had gathered them in a few units.

irose and ice thanks for answering . as for vcles which ones could they have got their hands a hold of . I also know bm's aren't available yet , but looking towards future inclusion . ice as to mixed arms aspect , remember this is a police organization(with teeth). I've roughly modeled them after both the historic and modern day texas rangers . each frontier world will start out with 1 ranger company to be the 1st line of defense till a militia can be raised or regular tdf troops can be garrisoned.  as to the constabulary question , they are still around . some of their legal perview now belongs to the rangers . the constabulary becomes the premier counterintelligence agency of the concordat  ...ie fbi or in your case the  the dgsi if i'm understanding it's role and function in france and her territories . am working on a bit of fluff , but still have a ways to go .

Don't worry, I know the FBI.

As for vehicles, I took a look at the MUL and 2361 seems too early. I would therefore say Primitive ones.

you know ice , some of the things you and irose brought up got me to digging deeper into just who the original colonist were . it seem about 1/3rd were of French speaking  , another 3rd were Spanish speaking , and the last 3rd were english speaking (american english) . much like colonial America was for such a long time . so i'm now beginning to understand the taurian mind set of a few centuries down the line . three distinct cultures that have to blend together , but never quite do .they learn to live , work and marry together out of necessity, but want to keep there own cultures . hate to say it but that's a large part of what keeps so much friction going here in the us .
I think irose may have a point about who settled illushin . most likely war refugees who spoke one form or another of Russian who got tired of nearly perpetual war in the inner sphere .
ice a little spoiler for you....taurus warworks Leclerc 25 mbt  forthis time frame .

no they don't have to be canon designs . besides I find that designs that come from here or cbt seem more like what might be . so ice or any one who would like to weight in feel free to do so . till I can get my heavy metal app up and running , i'm stuck here .
