Title: The impact of more JumpShips
Post by: Dread Moores on May 04, 2011, 02:50:30 AM
After finishing the production spreadsheet, I started thinking about JumpShips. Let's say your AU has a great deal more of them, both in terms of surviving ships and production lines. What impact do you see that surplus having? I'd imagine greater army sizes would result, along with larger battles. You can get more troops to the front, more ships for transport of goods to allow for more production (since so few factories in BT actually produce everything on site), and a more fluid style of warfare (less "front" based warfare).

Thoughts?

BTW, if this should be moved to the AU forum, feel free. I just realized it probably fits better there. :)

It depends if you have enough DropShips.

Another problem would be that too much JumpShips would mean a more free for all approach.

A free for all approach is good in bed with blonde twins not for fighting a war. You have to balance out your forces too many of one and not enough of the other means you got Duck Dogers running your military with Sylvester the Cat and Wile E. Coyote as his most trusted Generals.

See the 1st and to a lesser extent the 2nd Succession Wars with their highly mobile warfare that increases the destruction of an interstellar war. Space is a big place and it is hard to defend all of it.
