Ronin: Katherine's decision to woo the Smoke Jaguars was canonically based on the Jaguar's hostility to the Draconis Combine, the Kell Hounds and Clan Wolf-in-Exile. The Ghost Bears lacked that motivation for her to exploit. In this AU, you're right: the decision is less justifiable. There's no ARDC to un-nerve her. On the other hand, the Smoke Jaguars are the likely leaders if a renewed invasion kicks off (with the Jade Falcons weakened and the Wolves under Phelan). Katherine specifically stated she would be happy to make a deal with the Clans for them to invade if that deal left her in charge: she was hedging her bets against a Clan Victory.

Ok, thanks, now it makes more sense to me.

Quote
Theodore announced the marriage under what were very favorable circumstances: the Clan Invasion was over, he was First Lord of the Star League. His position was very solid. Victor, having reunited the Federated Commonwealth, was also in a good position and could use his regaining the Lyons' Thumb worlds to show he was not making concessions to Theodore for the marriage. And if you check the dates, Omi would already have been pregnant with Victor's child.
The Military Crisis caused by the Black Dragons was almost a year after Theodore made the announcement.

Must have mixed up the dates, then. Still, I don't think that the Black Dragons would be too glad about it...  ;)

Not to mention the draconis March a Kurita on the New Avalon throne you'd have trouble a lot

Ebon dragon - maybe Red Wolf I think ebon dragon is too big a leap from wolf and too associated with the combine I think thats why there isn't a dragon clan in Canon

Otherwise I like

Really, as long as there is an unbroken line of people calling themselves "Clan Nova Cat," it doesn't really matter to me if they're still using Iron Wombs or not. They may be dead as a faction, but as a people they still exist. It's not uncommon in the real world, after all.

SSJGohan: I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Ronin: I'm sure the Black Dragon Society would not be happy. Theodore seems to have underestimated them.

Dragon Cat: While the Draconis March would not be happy, they've had more than a decade of peace on that border so there would also be some moderating influence. Eventually pressures would rise to reclaim worlds lost in the early Succession Wars and in 3039, not to mention putting a Steiner-Davion-Kurita on the throne of the Combine, but that would take time to build.

Red Wolf would be too close to Wolf: I think the name should be distinct to show they are a seperate force. But I see your point about the Dragon associations. Perhaps some other form of canine would have been a better choice.

Here's the sticker

The Draconis March hold the entire Kurita line accountable for Kentares Massacre

It doesn't matter if he is a saint his entire life he's Kurita Victor would be lucky to ever be welcome in the March again after the announcement of the birth

We know in Canon Arthur was being touted by many as an alternative to Victor and Katherine I could see this growing and eiher a Vic removed b Vic killed c Civil War

If Vic was ComStar I think he and Omi would have a chance but in this he loses his throne there's no chance both he and Omi had accepted that before he lost his throne there was no way their fathers knew it too which is why they allowed the friendship

Ice Hellion: Creating a breakaway Clan is certainly legal as seen in the creation of Clan Jade Wolf and Clan Stone Lion

I have to read it a second time to be sure how it worked.

Basically a Khan splits a designated piece of the Clan off and declares that new group a Clan. I never liked that however just doesn't make sense to me.

Surprised there have never been more fractured Clans if it's that easy - would be nice fluff piece to really give the Clans history to have one or two new Clans formed and absorbed during Clan history

Great Story.

As to new Clans, the Fire Mandrilss did it by deed, if not by word.

You are jealous  :P

That's what I read the first time and again the second time and I do agree with you.
