The article is titled "Environment minister’s office kept scientist from speaking, documents reveal" and this type of thing has been happening more and more here.  Things like this make me nervous.

Not hugely surprising here in Scotland today scientists are saying we need to improve flood defences in 23 areas for the future.  A cost of something like £150 Million to make them effective.

That said one owner says he has a picture of his business (the building) 100 years ago flooded and he has one of last month flooded with no difference so politicians seem to ignore facts when they are staring them in the face.

I wouldn't even want to think what it would be like in England or lower countries like Holland

It's a serious concern one that isn't going to go away as storms get worse and worse due to rising temperatures.  I'm just glad I live in a city that's build on and around nice high hills  ;D

...It isn't just the Canadian Environmental Ministry, although it makes me wonder some times of the wisdom in trusting people who say, "this won't hurt you a bit".  I vaguely remember a researcher who threw away her deoderant because she was suspicious of their safety - I can't remember is it was about cancer or alzheimers (sp).

Another big one is the way governments do their books.  I've been following economics articles on-line for a while now, and one fact constantly being brought up lately is that governments like the US are failing to reveal (or discover) their actual debts and expenses.  Given the buzz about the 'fiscal cliff', the thought it might actually be significantly larger - much, much, larger - is pretty staggering.

Yeah.  Just before our last election in 2011, that was pretty much what toppled the Conservative minority government.  They lied about our deficit and spending.  Then somehow they won a majority in that election.

Frankly, although the Conservatives didn't deserve to lose, the NDP and Liberals didn't deserve to win.  If the former head of the Canadian banking system does decide to accept leadership of the Liberals, they might have a chance.

Oh, I agree.  The 'Pierre Poutine'-thing was another black mark against the party - this kind of behavior is a bad sign - what next, a Canadian Watergate?

Yeah.  I predict the two (?) who did it will get slaps on the wrist, and the PC party will wander off in search of campaign donations.  The Libs and NDP will decry the lack of political ethics, vow to change things when they come to power in the next election, and wander off in search of suppost.

It almost makes you want to go Green.
