It's also important to bear in mind the changes occurring elsewhere in the world due to the earthquake. Unrest in the NYC area of the Indian plant, the closure of some German plants, etc.

I'm within 10 miles of Indian Point (the NYC reactor in question) and this is nothing new. Folks been trying to close it down for many years now. The faults that the plant sits on is pretty minor with earthquakes occurring rarely and relatively low strength. Don't get me wrong I'd like to see the place magically disappear but it won't. Even if you shut it down tomorrow you still have radioactive waste that needs to be moved somewhere for storage, hello Yuka Mountain. Not to mention the plant provides NYC with a good amount of its energy needs. Where is that gonna come from? We need to go in some direction.

Welcome to the boards Rasalhague Dominion - I'm praying for all those affected as well.

It'll be interesting to see how the world community reacts. Nuclear energy was kind of in the process of seeing a minor rebirth. That's probably all but gone now. Still, without viable (acceptable) alternatives it'll be either more coal, gas or oil. I'm sure that's a great idea...

Or if your country is too dependant on nuclear energy...

If you can stand their blatant bias and them constantly talking their book zerohedge.com has some very up to date info on Fukushima and the assorted disruptions events there have caused. I'll tell you right now you may as well ignore the comments on the articles and take anything that seems too tinfoil-hat/fear-mongerish with a huge grain of (iodized)salt.

Don't say I didn't warn you  ;)

Here's a newish zerohedge article on the radiation levels: http://www.zerohedge.com/article/tepco-knew-radiation-seawater-75-million-above-normal-it-started-dumping-radioactivity-sea-m

And a table regarding the threat of radiation from Fukushima: http://www.zerohedge.com/article/assessing-radiation-danger-near-and-far

You can trust everyone to be themselves. We are all biased in some ways and as Sun Tzu would say - Know yourself and Know your enemy and in 1,000 battles you'll never be defeated. Or something like that.  ;)

Anyway glad they finally got that radioactive leak into the ocean under control.

But thankfully the Reactors weren't slapped with additional damage - although information is still coming in. Another 7.0 for the record books folks. The old gods are leaving their slumber.

At the time that report was made. Afterward I was like, "Damn." Those poor people can't catch a break.
