A year ago today, my friends (Matt, Jeremy, Gus) and I restarted our BattleTech Tabletop gaming with an alternate take on the Third Battle of Nyserta. Briefly mentioned in the Diamond Shark section of the Invading Clans Sourcebook this conflict seemed to be an easy ‘layup’ for a Ghost Bear Clan ticked off about the whole invasion went. But what if it was not? The scenario I am about to detail to you is another intriguing possibility of things that could have happened in the Mechwarrior universe. Allowing me to radically expand on a conflict not given that much attention was like setting up a giant bunch of dominos only to have them knocked over. Plus, it had been a good long while since we had gotten together for such a large-scale action involving seventy-five BattleMechs. Still that was only one-eighth of the total forces committed to battle between the five armies which did battle. The scope was daunting but the whole affair did convince me that such events were plausible even if the reasons given for the deviation are paper thin at best. I hope you have as much fun reading and discussing this tome as we did playing everything out. Hopefully it will be the first of many. Enjoy!
