Hey guys, I'm working on reworking the 'Yotes and the Society for my next Clarion Call chapter. Rather than the musty old Warden traditionalists and the know it all rebels of the Clans I want to bring the two together to create a Scientist Clan much as the Diamond Sharks are the Merchant Clan.

I was thinking it might result from a reborn Tchernovkov alliance perhaps by sibkin who rise to become the leaders of their respective castes. There is also the Vision angle we could play into this story.

Another Coyote question I was going to try and answer was why they voted to invade leaving the Wolves to stand alone in opposition to Operation Revival. To that end I was thinking of two new characters from the Kufahl and Winson bloodlines who tie the the Clan closer to the Wolves. Perhaps one or both of these warriors served in the invasion?

All this would be accomplished at the expense of two canon figures - Khan Robin Steele (who voted to invade) and soon to be Khan Sullivan Koga (who served as Steele's adjutant and champion). The Coyote Touman would then be reformed in more of a traditional fashion then canon with older Galaxies retained at lesser strengths (i.e. less Clusters 3 rather than 5).

How do you guys think this melding of the Coyotes and Society into one Science Clan could best be accomplished? What would you like to see out of this? Any Yote fans out there? Love to hear from you! ;)

The scientists are tasks by the warrior caste to analyze the meta data regarding fighting the inner sphere and to come up with ways to counter the inner sphere tactics and strategy.   The warrior caste sense of supperiority tends to limit their flexibility on a tactical and strategic level?   The scientist caste convinces the Clan warriors to control a planet closer to the inner sphere  to gather more data to analyze..  They can even use Port Krin as the place to test any future clan weapons development. The scientist caste also assists the Cayote Watch on how to improve intelligence gathering.  Those are my suggestions.

I think so, but I figure with the usual inter clan rivalry/arrogance that Clan Cayote warriors wanted to have their own people do the review.

One of the big strengths of the Society was their intelligence capabilities which focused on sophisticated analysis. It would be interesting if dedicated Intel/ Military Scientists were added to Coyote's mix. After all the Watch is hardly considered front line service so to have a blend of warrior and civilian castes especially scientists in this case is plausible.

Further more establishing a research outpost close to the InnerSphere so their enemy can be study is only prudent. Not only as a forward base of operations but a station for controlled experiments. Questions like the typical reaction and capabilities of InnerSphere warriors can be gauged as well as the assimilation of peoples and industry. I like the suggestion even though Port Krin is a no go for me. Some new colony or existing coreward Periphery settlement would be ideal. Any ideas for names or planetary history?

But the biggest question is how do we get there? How can the Society be realistically merged with the Coyotes starting in 3052? The Society would have to come to light somehow and through this discovery be integrated into the Clan - something some rebels would not be too happy about. Certainly many die hards could flee or escape to the Bandit Caste but I imagine resources are pretty tough to come by on the fringes of Clan society. So while they may survive in some diminished fashion in the short term their days are clearly numbered.

Perhaps serving as a sub-caste of Warrior, ala the 'Police' sub-caste mentioned in Warriors of Kerensky?  I could see that working, Takiro.

Interesting MA, I'll take a look for it. Since the Coyotes become the Scientist Clan I'd like to delve into their sub-castes as well. Perhaps a variation on the minus one system that the Diamond Sharks have for Merchants except for Coyotes it would be for Scientists. This could be a bridge sub-caste between the warrior and scientist. Not bad..

Any story ideas to accomplish a Society-Coyote reunification?

Link them more and since the beginning with Clan Coyote managing to influence Nicholas Kerensky or the next generation of Clan leaders.

How much more can they be linked already is the question. The Society is a Clan wide scientist cabal with designs on overthrowing the warriors that began apparently within the Coyotes. This dates back to the conquest of the Pentagon during Operation Klondike and the surrender of the city of Versailles on Babylon. Whatever deal the Tchernovkov brothers made led to Coyotes' ascendance which benefited both the Society and the Clan. That is all we have up till Operation Revival.

As of 3052 it would seem that the Society is just getting going on its own so maybe we can strike some kind of deal with a contender for the Khanship. This contender backed high tech (Level 3) could defeat his rivals and usher in a new covenant between scientists and warriors. What do you think?
