I like the earn it system when properly applied and since we have two units that show that here perhaps it is the case. If I may make an observation based on these Keshik conclusions at hand - it doesn't seem like the new leadership of the Scorpions went outside the box at least in the canon setting. Meaning the 24th Scorpion Cuirassiers (The Khan's Own) was the bodyguards of the old Khans (Nikolai Djerassi and Ren Posavatz) as well as the new ones (Ariel Suvorov and Nelson Elam). Is there turnover among these units? If so when? Certainly there are reasons for the 24th to be challenged for the honor especially when the new generation comes to power here. I'll have to do research and see where (unit wise) Suvorov and Elam came from in the Touman (before they were Khans). It would make sense if their old commands challenged, aff?

I just found while looking at Field Manual Warden Clans for info regarding both Khans that the 14th Scorpion Grenadiers is said to have won two years in a row the Circus Honorae's Cluster competition and were rewarded with the position of honor guard for the Scorpion's ancestral tombs.

That is kind of strange Ice, I would think guarding the main blood chapel of the Clan would be their honor not guarding tombs??

I noticed some strange errors in the Scorpion section in particular that I will have to confirm in detail later such as the wrong resignation date for Khan Nikolai Djerassi (3045 I think I remember) and giving a different Loremaster under Delta Galaxy I believe. Somebody might have been hitting the necrosia...

I looked at Field Manual Updates and Gamma Galaxy is supposed to be lead by the Goliath Scorpion Loremaster.
At the time of this report (3066), Kyrie Ben-Shimon is said to have just ousted the previous Loremaster.

Almost. The problem being the time of writing : Field Manual Warden Clans, with the 2 Loremasters, is written earlier than Field Manual Updates.
