I made it here, mostly because of this unit and what happening on CBT.com

I did post 2 longtom commanders there today too

Could you also post them here so that we can see them while CBT.com has its problems?

Well I was inspired again Takiro

I have 2 Vehicle Commanders (1st Artillery Battery; 2 LT-MOB-25 Mobile Long Tom Artillery - one is company commander the other a close assistant}
between them the Arty going to fall on target or else.

Tai-i Frederica “Annie” Sasaki                Elite Artillery/Elite Inf
Born in 3019 on Macksburg, She has always liked guns and became an expert at ballistics at a young age.  Regularly won every shooting contest on her homeworld.  Served with Honor in the DCMS for 10 years, rising to rank of Tai-i and commanded a Support Unit with Artillery Pieces.  But her commanding officer, Toshiyuki Ohta would not promote her higher as well he didn’t want women serving above men.  She left the service and kinda bounced around the Draconis Combine.  Before she was discovered winning a shooting contest to pay her way, by a O5P recruiter.  It was here that Frederica was given new prepose in her life, she was going to use her natural talents to bring down the greatest threat the Draconis Combine has had.
She carries with her a pair of old battered Nambu pistols at all times and an old battered Lever Action Rifle  But just because she doesn’t have one, doesn’t mean that she can’t use any ballistic weapon with deadly skill.

Michie Cisneros                   Elite Artillery/Reg Vehicle/Green Inf
Born in 3027 on Kufstein, to a O5P family whose cover was that of a Merchant.  During the Operation GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG in late ’29, her mother died when she was caught in between armed units.  Her father also injured in the encounter, made the decision as soon as possible he would ship her to an O5P “Home” as he wasn’t able to both keep her and do his job.  He died in ’34 on the Kulstein.
She is a Nerd with a head for turning range charts into direct hits.  What is truly scary is to watch her direct a team firing excise and have her fire all her guns with no spread over the target and watch Direct Hits.  While her head can perform math to hit with Artillery faster and better then most computers, the same is not to say for the rest of her “Combat skills”.
When in the Field she carries a saw off Pump Action shotgun that she uses to “point in the direction of the enemy and fire, mostly for effect.

Ballista Artillery Vehicle

Olivia Desjardins was born into the O5P. Her family has a long line of men and women who served the Order, even two who rose to the rank of Illuminati. Her training in the Order started at a very young age and only ended with her admission to the Dieron Districe Gymnasium, where she graduated at the top of her class of seventeen. Unable to pilot a Battlemech due to medical issues, she chose to go Armor. Following Armor School, she served six years with the Devil Dogs of the 22nd Dieron Regulars, where she commanded vehicles ranging from a Pegasus to a Von Luckner.

She returned to the Order in 3045, where she completed her training before taking a job as an intelligence analyst. Following the Clan Invasion, she was approached her section and told of the Sohei and how they were recruiting members of the Order who had served in the DCMS. After a lengthy vetting process and a series of interviews, she was accepted into the unit and assigned to one of the Ballista Artillery vehicles. Lacking experience with artillery, she recruited a crew that had the experience. Her gunner, Seiji Iwamura, was a 20-year veteran of the DCMS before joining the O5P as a security guard at one of their larger warehouses. Seiji taught Olivia all that he knew about artillery and she grasped it all very quickly. The rest of her crew is made up of Bo Tranh, the driver and Wanda Comstock, the assistant gunner. Through diligent and rigorous training, the crew has meshed into a close knit unit.

Well here is 1 more, and I think she has an interesting concept

Sonya “Raijin (雷神)” Kuroshima               Vet Mechwarrior/Reg Inf
She is a Veteran Light Mech Pilot and born into O5P Trader family, who lost her family Stinger 3G “Ashidakagumo”, during a disagreement over trade with another Spacer Trader Clan in 3049.  She joined Sohei to get back into a Mech Seat.  She was transferred to a CGR-3K Charger “Tsudzukeru 続ける or Goon, of which she still learning the in and out of operations.
Out of her mech she has studied Bartitsu as her HTH fighting style and carries an older Nakjima Hand Laser as her sidearm of choice.  If she needs a long gun she has an old Zeus Heavy Rifle she can break out.

I'll claim the last two, the Thumpers

Kenjiro Barmanski and Alexandra Kane

Barmanski and Kane have known each since long before their days of service in the 8th Alshain Regulars. After their conscription period ended, they both joined the Order as Neophytes at the Order's ivory storehouses on Buckminster. Barmanski worked as a driver, while Kane worked as an administrator. both of them also served as reservists in Buckminster's planetary militia in their lone artillery company made up of towed Sniper and Thumper artillery pieces. Unlike many on the planet of Buckminster, both were raised by families that were ardent supporters of the Dragon and the Kurita family and this what led them to being accepted into the Order. They both went to Order-sponsored training courses that taught them what it was to be a rue citizen of the Combine. It was at these classes that they met and became long-time friends and sometime lovers. When the call went out for recruits to the Sohei, both applied immediately and without reservation.

Despite the infamous reputation that citizens of Buckminster have earned, both Barmanski and Kane were accepted into the unit and began aseries of trials and examination amongst those who were recruited to fill out the conventional forces of the Sohei. They both tested and out as vehicle commanders for the two thumper vehicles and began assembling their crew. While they were not able to get the best gunners in the unit (those went to the Long Toms andBallista, they did manage to get the two best drivers, Angela Kawai and Mordecai Schifferstein. The remaining four crewmembers, Felicia Gunther (gunner), Watende Ogawa (gunner), Jameson Iniki (assistant gunner) and Kagome Nomura (assistant gunner) were the last of the available crew members that had any artillery experience. The two vehicle crews train together incessantly, both in theirvehicles and in extravehicular combat. Barmanski is a master of small blades, especially the kukri, and close quarters combat and Kane is an expert in Aikido. All of the crew members are also advance practitioners of various armed and unarmed martial arts. Schifferstein excels at krav maga and the shotgun. Kawai is an expert in jujitsu. Iniki is an instructor of limalama, while Ogawa is an accomplished pistol marksman. Gunther and Nomura are both practitioners of savate and karate, respectively. Aspart of their self-defense training each of the crewmmbers instructs the other in their chosen specialyt. As far as infantry combat is concerned, they get their weapons and combat training courtesy of the Oniwaka. although none of the crew members enjoys the 40 kilometer long hikes that the Oniwaka seem to revel in. The two Thumpers are known as Boomstick-Ichi and Boomstick-Ni.

Wow, welcome Abele to the list of contributors for the Sohei. Thanks to Sharpnel and Doc Argen all the Mechasenshi (Mechwarriors) have been completed. Not much left to do. Think there is only one Hand Of Kannon lance left. I'll check tomorrow morning to be sure. Great job!

Ok folks going over it real quick cause unfortunately I don't have much time this morning only Hover Lance 3 of the Hand of Kannon remains completely unaccounted. If you'd like to work on a part or the whole of this remaining unit just lets us know. I appreciate all of the tremendous entries we have gotten!

Saracen Crews Hover Lance 3

Samara Ramadi (Sasu 1) and Sharif bin Salah al-Hamza (Sasu 2)

Both commanders are veterans of the Arkab Legions with Ramadi serving in the Second and al-Hamza in the Sixth. Prior to joining the Sohei the two had never met. Samara's connection to the Order is through her mother, a former agent who left the Order to raise her family of five children. Samara is a young vibrant woman and brilliant tactician who believes that constant movement is the key to victory. A stationary vehicle is a dead vehicle is her mantra. Samara was contacted by Order shortly after the Clans were vanquished on Luthien.

Sharif is descended from a family of merchants who served the Order's needs in the Azami worlds. As a soldier, Sharif also believed in movement, but that suppressing fire was key to victory while moving. Excelling first as a driver, then as a gunner, Sharif became a vehicle commander six years after joining the Legion. Sharif was approached by the Order shortly before the clan assault on Luthien.

Both Samara and Sharif accepted invitations to the trials that would select the members of the Sohei. After several weeks of intense examinations and trials. both were selected to command the pair of Saracens in the third Hover lance. Both are experienced Saracen commanders courtesy of their time in the Arkab Legion. They have made requests to the Sohei leadership to replace the three SRM-2 launchers on their vehicles with a pair of Streak SRM-2s

Saladin Crews Hover Lance 3

Cassandra Huong (Sasu 3) and Sloane Petrie (Sasu 4)

Neither of these two have any military experience beyond their years serving in planetary militias. Cassandra worked as a personal driver for the Sohei Adept on the planet of Tabayama, her home world. In her time in the planetary militia she was a driver in a Scimitar and after her service she joined the Order. She started out as a truck driver and then was elevated to the Adept's driver after winning several hover car races in the local racing circuit. Like many others, she received her invitation to join the Sohei just after the assault on Luthien. She readily accepted the invitation as it was her chance to finally somewhere beyond Tabayama.

Sloane Petrie piloted an ancient Sabaku Kaze during her time in the Hachiman Planetary militia. After serving a double term in the militia, Sloane went to college and earned her degree in Business Administration and then went to work as an office assistant for one of the Order's many associated business ventures on the planet. Eventually, she rose to the position of office manager. She received her invitation to join the Sohei in late 3051.

After being selected for the final roster, Sloane and Cassandra were assigned to command the Saladins in Hover Lance 3. Having encountered each other during the evaluations, they had built up a rather intense rivalry. Both are very competitive and they battled each other throughout the cycle. After getting their assignments, that rivalry continued, though through their training with the lance  it has turned into relationship of mutual respect.

Wow, thanks Abele!

That concludes are open billets in unit. If anyone likes to contribute any trainees or teachers coming for the next wave of Sohei you certainly may.

I'm gonna finish up my character and move on to the Jump ship and unit fluff.

Awesome job everyone!

Really, as long as there is an unbroken line of people calling themselves "Clan Nova Cat," it doesn't really matter to me if they're still using Iron Wombs or not. They may be dead as a faction, but as a people they still exist. It's not uncommon in the real world, after all.

Thanks to the fury of activity only three characters remain to be created. Calderon is working on his Oniwaka platoon commander and should be done by tomorrow, Ice Hellion is doing the final Mechasenshi piloting a Wolf Trap, and I got the VTOL Commander in the Hand of Kannon. Hopefully I will have time on Sunday to complete my character rounding out the unit.

Again if anyone would like to contribute additional characters not listed - like instructors not in the field, students who are learning, or supporting personnel such as analysts who think strategy and study the Clans, publicists who promote the unit, etc please do so now or forever hold your peace.

Well folks with this character I pronounce the Sohei fully staffed! Calderon was kind enough to post his Oniwaka over on the CBT boards with a Marine companion. Since I posted the first three characters on January 21 a total of 123 characters from 11 contributors (Takiro – 24, O5P Ghost – 5,    Ice Hellion – 20, Doc_Agren – 35+,    Sharpnel – 11, Daryk – 4, Bradshaw – 9, Calderon – 3, Gus – 2, Dragon Cat – 3, Abele – 7) have been detailed in various ways. I'd like to thank everyone who took part and remind you again there is still time to get more auxiliary characters in if you'd like. I know I am working on four more characters who will soon join the Sohei but for now are simple students. Hope you enjoy the VTOL Commander for the Hand of Kannon.

Satomi Kisarazu
Always looking for action the beautiful commander of VTOL Company of the Hand of Kannon maybe the most experienced helicopter warrior in the Draconis Combine. Beginning with her first campaigns in the War of 3039 she showed an early propensity to destroy ground combatants of all types including BattleMechs. Satomi built on this early success volunteering for service in the Ronin War and even transferred to planetary militias along the Federated Commonwealth border during the 3040s. Moved to Luthien in order to bolster the planet’s defenses during the Clan Invasion she managed to down a Smoke Jaguar Koshi during that great battle. While all of these battles have resulted in an impressive kill list it has her more than a few choppers. Miyuki Suzuki recruited her for the Hand of Kannon where she hopes Kisarazu will finally settle down. Her sister Shun serves as her pilot in their Cyrano (colorfully decorated with traditional magna decal) named Mechslayer and is blessed with extraordinary reflexes.

Okay gang I wanted to put you all on notice that the first battle of Rockland is next up in our gaming que.

The first scenario will see a Clan style Trial agreed to by both sides which plays out in Great Refusal style (company of Sohei Mechs vs. binary of Smoke Jaguars). I should also spell out one more thing - with the purpose being to outduel the Clans such endeavors initially at least must be strictly on their terms. In other words we are following strict zellbrigen here so no hatchet wielding Mechs or folks specializing in physical combat.

Love to hear your thoughts on who will be participating for the Sohei (aka pick the 12 best Mechwarriors and their rides which can win such an engagement). The roster is below for your inspection. ;)
