OVERVIEW
The Claybeg captured the imagination of the Blood Spirits despite its initial defeat in the first Quicksilver Trail. Named for the “small sword†who some did not believe measured up to the Claymore this light Highlander ultimately finished second to the Burrock designed Nightcrawler. However one young ristar refused to admit defeat. Star Commander Kelvin of the Schmitt blood house urged his Clan not to forsake the project. Several problems with weapons and armor caused by “arbitrary time tables†could be fixed given time. After all, the Clans still possessed a large number of Thorn BattleMechs which supplied much of the Claybeg’s components. Since the entire point of the Quicksilver Program was to mobilize every possible asset scrapping this project would consign these machines to rot in Brian Caches. In much the same way Kelvin hoped that the Spirits would not abandon their true heritage as the esprit de corps. Impressed Khan Karianna Schmitt ordered her engineers to complete their work but also realized they would need help. This requirement was underlined in reports from Senior Scientist Norman (MacLeod) who stated that the limited resources put forward would have to entail additional fiscal and materiel support. Star Commander Kelvin was tasked with finding such assistance which effectively tested his inclusive philosophy. Pitching the new BattleMech as a rapid way to bolster flagging toumans in the wake of Tukayyid drew immediate interest from Clan Diamond Shark. Negotiations which began with this single project grew in scope proving difficult but in the end resulted in a new alliance. Financing for the Claybeg and other projects was secured in exchange for contracts to defend Shark holdings. Pleased with the outcome Khan Schmitt appointed Kelvin the new ilChi to the Diamond Sharks.
CAPABILITIES
In a change from standard practice the only thing newly manufactured on the Claybeg is the internal structure. The Clan LT EndoSteel chassis was modeled after the legendary Highlander BattleMech but is much smaller in stature. This lightweight skeleton produced in zero gravity was initialed supplied by Diamond Shark and might be the only thing truly exclusive to this design. Everything else was salvaged from existing sources like the Thorn BattleMech or the Ku Wheeled Assault Tank. The armor, the electronics, the gyroscope and the power plant were all taken from the Thorn which served honorably for centuries. Of those only the GM 120 Fusion Engine was significantly refurbished with Clan Double Heat Sinks to efficiently cool the BattleMech in combat. While the Armorscale plating looks different that is because of the new underlying frame it remains essentially unchanged. This conventional armor provides it with ninety two percent of maximum possible protection. This war machine was built around the concept of staying in operation as long as possible without support. With this belief in mind the BattleMech was outfitted with energy weapons for prolonged engagements. One Series 7J Extended Range Large Laser and two Series 1 Extended Range Small Lasers drawn straight from the Ku Wheeled Assault Tank comprise this ammo free arsenal. These weapons are linked to an advanced Targeting Computer that allows the Claybeg to effectively engage enemies at long range while using its small size and speed to avoid damage. Engineers placed this armament centrally to overcome major peripheral damage and still carry on the fight. The design also mounts Hand Actuators which could carry out close quarters combat something most Clanners would not consider before their return to the InnerSphere. A simple and reliable design technicians love its dependable and time tested systems not to mention the roomy interior space. It is also the most affordable BattleMech currently in Clan service whose ease of maintenance and modular ready capability have fast made it a favorite despite its slight frame.
DEPLOYMENT
A Clan BattleMech operating in a similar fashion to the Wasp or Stinger would be unthinkable before the invasion. Some in the Kerensky Cluster still consider the twenty ton chassis too fragile and a poor investment outdated by superior Clan technology. The Blood Spirits are disproving some of those assumptions by effectively using the Claybeg in their “Diamond Shield†campaigns. Clever bidding in conjunction with the natural terrain has produced some stunning defensive successes. Enemies have quickly found themselves unable to close to effective attack range against this swift reaching Light ‘Mech. While victorious these fall back tactics have produced a string of criticisms from traditional Blood Spirit foes like the Burrocks. Going so far as to call the design a “glorified Elemental†they have steadfastly condemned its wasteful production. Such disapproval has failed to slow its spread to other Clans by way of Diamond Shark merchants. Looking to bolster their devastated Touman rapidly the Smoke Jaguars purchased several runs which they have deployed ruthlessly to crush resistance in their Occupation Zone. Many have been modified by removing their existing armament along with the advanced targeting computer to maximize their aptitude for crowd control. Six Small Pulse Lasers which never need reloading provide continuously accurate firepower against any would be dissidents. Steel Viper has become the third largest users of the Claybeg purchasing them as training ‘Mechs. These machines have filled out their Newt Clusters in much the same way as the Caracara has done for the Jade Falcon Eyrie Clusters. Diamond Shark has opted to sell most of their Claybegs rather than employ them in rebuilding their battered Touman. Hell’s Horses is currently testing a few in second line formations to support infantry and armor like its predecessor, the Thorn. Intrigued by its highly precise long range weaponry Fire Mandrill and Goliath Scorpion are also evaluating the Claybeg in their garrison clusters.

OVERVIEW
Clan Burrock was among the first to answer the call of the ilKhan with the prototype of their Nightcrawler OmniMech. First produced by Burrock Scientists in 3037 the design was named after a species of nocturnal carnivorous beetle indigenous to Eden. Desiring more powerful (heavier) OmniMechs the Khans quickly order these prototypes mothballed. But since the ilKhan commanded a design for every weight class, the Burrock leadership jumped ahead by pulling the twenty ton Nightcrawler from mothballs and in the process became the very first Clan to submit a design to the ilKhan . . . just eleven days after he issued his request! Ulric Kerensky was rather taken aback at the speed of the Burrock response and the fact that they shipped him not only design schematics and computer simulations, but a full Star of five complete and ready-to-field prototypes! In a move calculated to sow division amongst the Crusaders, Kerensky publicly praised the Burrocks as a shining example of a well-prepared Crusader Clan. Performing well against five other competitors during the first Quicksilver Trail on Strana Mechty the Burrock entry would earn a place as a finalist against the Claybeg designed by Blood Spirit. The feud between the two ancient enemies added to the intense closing challenge which would see the Nightcrawler emerge victorious thanks in large part to its superior speed. Assistance from Steel Viper and Diamond Shark engineers helped put the final touches on the new OmniMech that rolled off the Albion production lines in late 3053.
CAPABILITIES
Massing just twenty tons the Nightcrawler utilized Clan Endo-Steel to construct its Segmented XX chassis which helped save available mass. In much the same way three and a half tons of Compound Alpha Ferro-Fibrous was used to protect the Light ‘Mech. This advanced lightweight armor which could be found on the Huntsman OmniMech, the Locust IIC BattleMech, and the Svanotvit Infantry Fighting Vehicle provides more than ninety seven percent of maximum coverage.
A standard 140 Fusion Engine which had been used on the Howler BattlMech as well as the Odin Scout Tank was included to save costs; although larger than the 120-rate minimum power requirement issued by the ilKhan, this engine was sufficient to provide for a walking speed of 75.6 kilometers per hour and a running speed of 118.8 kph; at least one known configuration features seven jump jets for a maximum jump capacity of two hundred and ten meters as well.
Despite being the fastest submission during the initial Quicksilver Trail which used EndoSteel and Ferro-Fibrous, the Nightcrawler remained low cost and easy to produce for Clans without extensive resources. One reason for this was the use of existing components like the Trueborn Ultra 945B Communication System from the Adder and the Series XXX Multi-track Targeting System from the Kit Fox. These proven electronics supplied by Burrock allies fit well into the design and required little capital investment.
However, the design also featured a very low pod-space for a Clan OmniMech with just five and half tons available for weapons and equipment. Burrock Scientists and Warriors managed to create some workable configurations despite having a ton less pod space than the venerable Fire Moth. All configurations below are equipped with lower arm and hand actuators on both arms, unless other noted.
The Nightcrawler Prime is armed with two ER Medium Lasers (right arm and left arm) and five SRM-2 launchers fed by a single ton of ammunition. With fifty missile salvoes available this ammo can be spent after ten rounds of constant fire. Two SRMs are fitted to the right torso along with the ammo bin, two to the left torso, and one in the center. With ten Double Heat Sinks only movement heat is generated on an Alpha Strike.
Configuration A has three sub-variants, all differing only in the electronics carried. Each is armed with two Medium Pulse Lasers (right arm and left arm) and a Flamer (right torso). The A-1 carries an Active Probe; the A-2 instead is outfitted with an ECM Suite; and the A-3 is armed with TAG. Each is mounted in the center torso. Very cool running and capable of accurate fire, the Nightcrawler A is a superb scout.
Configuration B with multiple LRM launchers was included to counter indirect fire barrages by AFFC lances of Dervishes and Valkyries. This Steel Viper variant from their Bone Lion entry is very cool running and able to provide on-call fire-support at range. This long range missile fire is somewhat limited because it only carries a single ton of ammunition. A single ER Small Laser is the sole energy weapon that can ward off nearby opponents without logistical assistance.
Configuration C was inspired by the Diamond Shark entry known as the Sea Hound which is similar to the Piranha. Using its Active Probe to seek out enemy infantry its eight Machine Guns and four Extended Range Small Lasers can quickly eliminate this pesky opposition. With one hundred rounds of ammunition the machine guns can fire a dozen rounds continuously before needing resupply.
Configuration D is the long-range sniper of the Nightcrawler family and it too was altered thanks to its Quicksilver competition. With an Extended Range Large Laser in the right arm, supported by an Extended Range Small Laser in the left arm both linked to a Targeting Computer it closely resembles its archrival the Claybeg. Ideal for extended operations thanks to its all energy weapon arsenal this variant is also cool running.
And finally, there is Configuration E. This model has seven jump jets (one center torso, three right torso, and three left torso) that puts a severe crimp in the available space for weapons. With only two tons remaining, the Burrocks went with the most efficient combination – a pair of ER Medium Lasers mounted in each arm.
DEPLOYMENT
Burrock has vigorously promoted the Nightcrawler to other Clans through frequent raiding. Enemies soon learned not to underestimate this tough little war machine which earned a small measure of respect in Clan space. Still a strong rivalry remains between this new Light OmniMech and the Blood Spirit piloted Bloodwing. Driven by differing tactical doctrines and a blood feud these Quicksilver creations have frequently squared off in combat. Thus far the results are surprisingly even and the Burrocks remain the only Clan with manufacturing rights to this design.
As the need to rebuild from Tukkayid became apparent the Steel Vipers challenged for rights to the new twenty ton OmniMechs. Despite the failure of their Bone Lion entry they recognized the Nightcrawler could bolster their Inner Sphere formations. Gaining access to its production through combat and trade this Invading Clan has become the second largest user to date. Not highly regarded within the Clan it is typically piloted by warriors fresh out of sibko or whose transfer to solahma units has been deferred by the need to rebuild frontline clusters.
Star Adder has apparently obtained a large quantity of these ‘Mechs through their Burrock allies and Diamond Shark merchants. A number of these machines have been spotted in front line formations causing some to wonder if the Clan had incurred significant losses recently. The Adders claim that they are simply integrating lighter forces into their Touman for improved combat performance. While adding such rapid responders to their forces is an admirable claim many still want to know what happened to the heavier assets they replaced.
The Diamond Sharks have been accused of double dealing by Blood Spirit isolationists who see their involvement with the Nightcrawler as a betrayal. While the Sharks have pointed out their own proposal named the Sea Hound which was defeated, their right to access Nightcrawler production via these same trails, and receipts of sale to others these hardliners remain undeterred. This opposition is not strong enough to upset the new alliance between these Clans but is likely to grow in the future. Both Blood Spirit and Fire Mandrill have publicly stated their refusal to use the Nightcrawler what so ever.
Burrock graciously sent samples of their new product to the Wolves who quickly integrated them into their Epsilon and Sigma Galaxies. Their mid line status between front line and second line troops have made them repositories for such zombie units. Preferring the heavier twenty five ton class the Jade Falcons have also obtained a few for combat trails. The Cloud Cobra and Smoke Jaguar Clans also have access to production but have not elected to procure big numbers instead preferring the Fire Moth and the Bloodwing respectively.

Overview
Intrigued by the ilKhan and his Project Quicksilver, Khan Lynn McKenna of Clan Snow Raven decided to submit a prototype of her own. Drawing upon the venerable Fire Moth, she directed Raven Scientists to redesign that commonly deployed OmniMech with a smaller, lighter engine and without the MASC systems. Although at least one Scientist asked whether they should consider improving the armor as a priority, Khan McKenna only authorized a slight increase of just one-half ton, demanding the largest possible war-load on an OmniMech masing just 20-tons.
Designated as Test Vehicle Bloodwing, the first example was handed over to the ilKhan in late 3052 for field testing.
Capabilities
Although many questioned their Khan's sanity (the Scientists doing so asking those questions VERY quietly), the Clan's finest minds sat down and outlined a 'Mech that might indeed meet the Khan's specifications. Since speed is life for a 20-ton design, the Scientists decided that a walking speed of 75.6 kilometers per hour was the absolute minimum. A 140-rate Extra-Light Fusion engine was fitted to comply with that decision.
With two and one-half tons of Ferro-Fibrous armor plating (half a ton more than the Fire Moth and providing almost 70% of the maximum possible protection on a 20-ton frame) and Endo-Steel II internal structure, the final computer design showed a capacity for 9.0 tons of pod-mounted weapons and equipment . . . just half-a-ton less than the 45-ton Ice Ferret!
Khan McKenna was impressed and she ordered two prototypes to be constructed immediately and shipped to the ilKhan for acceptance trials . . . although it is noteworthy that she did NOT instruct her own engineers to begin production for Clan Snow Raven. This has led some to wonder whether or not the entire Bloodwing Project is some attempt by Khan McKenna to troll the other Clans by presenting them with a weakly protected (but heavily armed) chassis that existing Clan Snow Raven OmniMechs can easily defeat in future trials.
Configurations
The Prime features a blistering array of energy weapons: a Large Pulse Laser in the right arm is the main gun; hellaciously accurate and possessing excellent range, it is a solid weapon. But in close, the design can also bring SIX ER Small Lasers to bear (mounted two each in the left arm, right torso, and left torso). The design carries just the base ten Double Strength Heat Sinks, resulting in marginal overheat production on a running Alpha Strike. Khan McKenna approved the design, however, citing that any Clan Warrior worth her OmniMech should be to deal with the excess overheat production.
A sub-variant replaces the Large Pulse Laser with an ER PPC; although this version generates even greater levels of heat, the added range and damage of the ER PPC is considered worth the cost and the loss in accuracy.
Configuration A is outfitted with two ER Large Lasers (right arm and left arm) with an eleventh DHS filling out the pod-space. Designed as a long-range sniper, this variant is well-able to pick targets to death at range, although it too suffers from the generation of excess overheat.
An in-fighter supreme, Configuration B is armed with five ER Medium Lasers (right arm, right torso, center torso, left torso, and left arm) tied into a one-ton Targeting Computer (right torso). Thirteen DHS are mounted, allowing for overheat generation only on a running Alpha Strike. Even clan Heavy- and Assault-weight war-machines have to be careful of the Bloodwing A because if it can get in their rear it is quite possible to lose a Trial due to the blistering discharge of the quintuple laser array.
Configuration C is very cool running, although it does suffer from limited onboard ordnance. The main weapon is an LRM-20 with Artemis IV (right arm) fed by a two-ton magazine in the right torso (twelve missile salvoes). The only secondary weapon is an ER Medium Laser in the left arm.
Configuration D is a short-range missile boat. Two ER Medium Lasers (right arm and left arm) are the long-range weapons, backed up by three Streak SRM-4 launchers (right torso, center torso, and left torso) fed by a single ton of ammunition in the right torso (25 missile salvoes).
Configuration E has seven jump jets fitted for a maximum jumping distance of 210 meters. Long-range armament consists of an LRM-10 (right arm) fed by a ton of ammunition in the right arm (twelve missile salvoes). Two ER Medium Lasers (left arm and right torso) provide back-up weapons (and indeed, the majority of the damage potential). It has been suggested that this configuration be paired with OmniMechs featuring a NARC missile beacon launcher to enhance the dozen missile salvoes available.
Then there is Configuration F. This version carries an Active Probe (right torso), an ECM Suite (left torso), a TAG (left arm), an Anti-Missile System (left torso) with a ton of ammunition stored in the left torso (24 bursts), a Flamer (right arm), two Machine Guns (left arm) fed by a half-ton of ammunition (left arm), and two ER Medium Lasers (right arm and center torso). A Targeting Computer (left torso) provides additional accuracy. Although capable of serving as a scout or recon element, the Bloodwing F was designed to serve as an infantry hunter for urban combat operations.
Finally, Configuration G carries an LB-2X autocannon in the right arm with a ton of ammunition (also in the right, for 45 bursts of cluster!), support by a triple ER Medium Laser mount in the left arm. Neither arm carries lower-arm or hand actuators, allowing the OmniMech to fire both ahead and behind at available targets. While the damage from the LB-2X is minor, it is an effective anti-fighter weapon and possesses a superb range, as well as providing for the possible of securing critical hits against even heavily armored OmniMechs at ranges often exceeding those of their own weapons. It is cool running as well and with the triple mount of ER Medium Lasers able to defend itself in close.

A somewhat surprising design coming from Clan Jade Falcon, the Sparrow it seems was prompted by the Falcons desire for a suitable Light 'Mech for Garrison work in the Inner Sphere.
Needless to say Jade Falcon Scientists under the watchful eye of Falcon Warriors decided to favor both speed and armor for this entry. While at a significant cost of pod space for weapons, Falcon Warriors weren't overly concerned given the roles they intended the Sparrow to perform. Capable of a top speed of over 129 kilometers an hour, the Sparrow was meant to be a scout first, a skirmisher second, and finally pressed into service to suppress unruly populaces.
What the Jade Falcon Scientists produced in only 30 days was an Omni version of the LocustIIC as a very deliberate insult to the Smoke Jaguars. Star Captain Jonathan Uston, a Falcon Mechwarrior well known for his personal feuds with Smoke Jaguars has gleefully endorsed the new adaptation and was said to be the driving force behind this blatant omnization. That being said Falcon scientists are already looking towards developing a field kit to upgrade all Locust IIC's in the Clan's Touman to the Sparrow standard.
The Prime nods to the battlemech its an omni of inspiration for this brand new design armed with 8 ER small lasers and medium pulse laser. A strong anti infantry unit, this variant is well known and familiar to Clan Warriors.
The Alpha variant is a purpose built skirmisher featuring a ER Large Laser, a small pulse laser and more importantly a Targeting Computer to make long range, high speed shots a possibility. Jonathon Uston favors this variant and pressed hard to see it developed.
Falcon Scientists included Beta to deal with the always troublesome prospect of garrison work inside the InnerSphere. Meant for suppressing riots within urban areas the Beta variant includes jumpjets, flamers and an active probe to crush any foolish attempt to rebel against the Falcons.
Delta was designed to be an alternative skirmisher equipped with a Streak SRM4 on either arm along with a ER medium Laser. The single ton of ammo is considered more than sufficient to feed both SRM's for a single battle. A favored dueling variant, Falcon Warriors often focus on high speed passes instead of simply grinding away at an opponent.

OVERVIEW
For much of their history the Burrock Clan had been consummate raiders and accomplished bandit hunters. Despite skill and determination their small Touman reflected the strain of near constant operations. While ground down by persistent offensives Burrock warriors were hardened combat veterans. However, newly elected Khan Michael Holliday was confronted with a growing lists of threats. Clan Blood Spirit, his most hated rival, was emerging from its isolationism and establishing new alliances. Dark Caste reprisals had killed his immediate predecessor and increasing hostility from Clan Snow Raven signaled some very real dangers to his Clan. Also the possibility of action in the InnerSphere rose after the Truce of Tukayyid effectively ended Operation Revival. Faced with these ominous prospects Khan Holliday commissioned several new designs to rapidly strengthen his Clan. This expansion was already underway when the ilKhan announced the Quicksilver Program. As the Fourth Trail approached Burrock Scientists looking to develop a cost effective light OmniMech came across the schematics for the HER-1Sb Hermes in an ancient data file. Believing that they had struck armament gold the engineering team quickly outlined a new modular design based on the Star League war machine. A number of concerns and minor mishaps prevented modification of existing equipment for front line service. Named the Gremlin in part for these unforeseen technical problems which could not be overcome it is unlike the Sparrow and many other ‘Mechs refurbished as part of Quicksilver. In spite of these issues the Gremlin defeated the Gila Monster submitted by Steel Viper during its combat trails to win a place among the Clans.
CAPABILITIES
The visage of the Gremlin has been changed from the Hermes and now has a more sinister demon-like appearance. The Albion Chassis Class 20 EndoSteel intentionally features hunched legs to give it a more aggressive look as well as multi-pronged horns on the head. These cosmetic changes are actually a combination of radio antennas and passive sensor receivers. Like the internal structure the Albion Telestar Communication System was derived from Hermes. In fact, the only system that could be salvaged and copied from the original model was the Alexis Photon Target Acquisition System. These reliable Star League era electronics were found to be compatible with modern Clan technology.
Designers settled on a standard 210 Fusion Engine in order to save on costs and incorporate a more durable Power Plant. Initially salvaged GM 210 Fusion Engines from the SLDF Lightning Hovercraft and Omni 210 Fusion Engines salvaged from cached Firestarters were used to give the Gremlin a maximum speed of 118.8 kph. Thankfully Burrock and Smoke Jaguar merchants reached an accommodation which made possible the use of the LightForce 210. This Power Plant featured on the Horned Owl and new Coral Snake would ease manufacturing concerns and eliminate any supply shortages. To protect the pilot and machine five tons of Compound Alpha Ferro-Fibrous armor is spread liberally across the frame. This armor also found on the Nightcrawler provides ninety-one percent of maximum protection.
The Primary Weapons Configuration of the Gremlin is a heavy hitter equipped with a menacing Extended Range Particle Projection Cannon. While this main gun, usually mounted in the right arm, makes the placement of lower arm and hand actuators impossible the opposing limb features these augmentations along with a Medium Pulse Laser. Finally, a centrally mounted Extended Range Small Laser provides necessary backup when necessary.
Alternate Configuration A is the short-ranged special equipped with matching Medium Pulse Lasers, Small Pulse Lasers, and Extended Range Small Lasers in each arm. While this variant includes lower arm actuators in both limbs neither features hands. A Short Range Missile-2 system is centrally mounted to provide further close in fire support. The one ton of ammunition carried in the right torso usually varies depending on mission types.
For long range fire support Alternate Configuration B features four torso mounted Long Range Missile-5 systems armed with two tons of ammunition. Two Extended Range Medium Lasers placed in each arm along with lower arm and hand actuators provide the next layer of offense. An Extended Range Small Laser located in the center torso deals with any short range threats the Gremlin should encounter.
A highly mobile recon element Alternate Configuration C is equipped with an Active Probe and an ECM Suite to accomplish its mission. Seven torso mounted jump jets allow the war machine to clear almost any obstacle in its path. Its armament consists of six Extended Range Small Lasers that while tiny compared to other weapons pack quite a punch when used collectively. This excellent raider also includes lower arm and hand actuators to grab any objectives quickly during combat.
Alternate Configuration D is a trooper model requested by Khan Holliday which features an Extended Range Large Laser, an Extended Range Medium Laser and two Extended Range Small Lasers. For added short-ranged punch, a six-tube Short Range Missile launcher is also mounted. Here again each arm has both lower actuators and hands for any necessary operations.
DEPLOYMENT
Rushed into production following its victory the Gremlin is entering service with Burrock units as fast as possible. As the creation of “OmniKits†for cached Hermes proved impossible the Clan has been forced to wait on newly manufactured machines. This has slowed deployment compared to other Quicksilver OmniMechs upgraded from existing models. Sufficient numbers have been built to outfit the 121st Rapier Cluster (Shockwaves) of Gamma Galaxy. With an OmniMech contingent composed exclusively of Nightcrawlers, Sparrow and Gremlins this Cluster has raided several enemy positions. These operations have gleaned important material for the Clan as well as a growing name for the Gremlin throughout the Homeworlds.
Securing two Light OmniMechs during the Ouicksilver Trails also allowed Khan Holliday to expand his reapproachment initiatives. Approaching old enemies like Smoke Jaguar and Coyote early in his tenure had produced a growing détente. Using the Gremlin as an answer to the Jaguar’s need to bolster an Occupation Zone under constant attack he was able to quickly add them as a large patron. Early sales of these fierce looking war machines have rapidly proven their worth against InnerSphere opponents. While the Jaguars look forward to the Gremlin bulking up their Touman soon, the Coyotes have shown only a scientific curiosity thus far. Their few gifted samples have been slated for further study at labs on Tamaron at this point in time.
Old Burrock friends like Star Adder and Steel Viper have been much more welcoming to the Gremlin than the Coyotes. The Adders recently reequipped an entire Cluster from Beta Galaxy with Gremlins, Sparrows, and Nightstalkers in much the same fashion as the Burrocks. Placing existing equipment into reserve for future operations has drawn some criticism from a few vocal Crusaders. They contend that Clan Star Adder is once again being too cautious when it comes to planning an invasion of the InnerSphere. Steel Viper immediately sent its first Gremlins to the FedCom front where they will serve alongside the Coral Snake which features the same fusion power plant. This overlapping equipment will ease logistical concerns while defeating InnerSphere opponents.
Attracted by the affordability of the design the Goliath Scorpions obtained the last few examples produced so far. Ties to the Star League Hermes and its battlefield toughness have quickly made it their thirty-ton favorite. Other Clans have not been so welcoming of the Gremlin citing “lingering technical issues†as well as “poor use of existing materials. Chief among these has been the Blood Spirits and Fire Mandrills whose hatred of the Burrocks may cloud their judgement. However, some Burrock “friends†like Jade Falcon and Ice Hellion have backed these assertions rejecting the Gremlin in favor of the Kit Fox and Arctic Cheetah respectively.

Overview:
The Quicksilver was developed alongside the Lithe Kill sharing the same chassis and armor layout, The main difference between the two concepts is the powerplant. The Quicksilver's comes from the Summoner Omnimech and allows the Quicksilver to reach speeds in access of 160kph falling in the same movement bracket as the Fire Moth, a long time favorite among the warrios of the Ice Hellion Touman.
While the two OmniMechs share the smae bones and skin, they are visually different. The Quicksilver is very sleek in appearnace, while the Lithe Kill is very animalistic in appearance.
The Quicksilver, while fast, lacks in offensive output due to the limitations of the seven tons of pod space that is available. The Quicksilver design team has made the best of the situation, but a few members of the team still feel that firepwoer is insufficient.
Variants:
The Prime is rather generic and fits the trooper role with an ER large laser, medium pulse laser and a brace of ER small lasers
The Alpha is the duellist and Elemental killer featuring a quintet of ER medium lasers tied into a targeting computer. A light active probe is mounted to sniff out any hidden enemies.
The Beta is the heavy hitter equipped an ER PPC and ER medium laser as a secondary weapon
The Gamma features an LRM-10 with a trio of laser, both ER and pulse, as backup for anyone who decides to get to close, as if that were possible.
The Delta is expected to fit the scout role with an active probe and two medium pulse lasers and a quartet of ER small lasers for striking power.

Overview:
Looking to exploit their new Occupation Zone, the Steel Vipers looked for ways to upgrade the Trellshire Heavy Industries factory on Twycross. While fully capable of building heavy and assault 'Mechs (and equipped with the latest technology of the Inner Sphere), the Scientist Caste suggested not entrusting the recent acquisition with outright production of Clan technology.
Instead the factory's role is to combine parts scavenged from the battlefields of the Clan Invasion with those shipped from the Clan Homeworlds and locally built electronics. The latter now includes Clan ECM, indicating increasing awareness of the importance of this factor on the battlefield.
Their current project merges the chassis of the Adder OmniMech with reactors taken from salvaged AFFC Wolfhounds. The Coral Snake is appearing in garrison clusters already although the Inner Sphere didn't notice at first, believing they were simply dealing with the 'Mechs they call Adders. They've codenamed the design 'Water Viper'.
Capabilities:
The Coral Snake mirrors the parent design very closely, although the larger engine loses the 'Mech about a third of its pod-space. In addition, the Water Viper replaces the chest-mounted Flamer with Electronic CounterMeasures, found to be helpful as AFFC units begin to make more use of C3 systems obtained from the DCMS. The ECM was included as a tribute to the camouflage capability of the Arcadian coral snakes the design is named for.
The Primary configuration swaps the Adder's PPCs for large lasers. This reduces the weight but also the heat burden sharply. Some Mechwarriors indicate the lower heat and greater range make it preferable to the Adder Prime.
The A configuration is the first missile-heavy configuration, scaling the missile pods down to 10-tubes and adding additional targeting electronics. This doesn't quite make up for the loss of firepower but maintains the reach and endurance, making it marginally acceptable to Mechwarriors.
Losing spare tonnage forced the B configuration to shed the Adder's autocannon but a LRM-5 with artemis targeting is a reasonable substitute and the success against unpredictable Spheroid warriors has led the Adders to re-visit the Adder B as a well-rounded design.
Another fire support configuration, the C configuration uses NARC to mark a target before backing off to use the uncannily accurate LRMs in its four launchers.
D configuration loses the autocannon once again, in favour of two LRM launchers this time. The ER large laser and Streak Missiles provide the backbone of the Water Viper D's firepower.
The only entirely original configuration, the E, provides a much-needed jump-jet option as well as an all laser armament that suggests the Steel Viper's steam-bath experience on Tukkayid has re-acquainted with the need for an ammunition free and low-heat unit.
Battle History:
Coral Snakes have seen minor action up and down the Steel Viper Occupation Zone since their deployment, usually in counter-insurgent roles or facing Inner Sphere raiders. An entire Star in E configuration were used for an amphibious assault on insurgents on Twycross itself after Operation Scorpion left the Steel Viper hold on the world endangered. Believing the 'Adders' wouldn't have jump jets, the insurgents relied on rough coastal terrain to try to escape, only to see the Coral Snakes hop easily over the barriers.
