Overview:
Although on opposite sides of the Crusader/Warden split, Clans Blood Spirit and Goliath Scorpion have points in common. Both in the bottom tier of the Clans and sharing a focus on a past era of glory, they've not had close contact in decades.

During the Grand Council debates following Tukkayid, saKhan Daryl Keller of Clan Blood Spirit commented negatively on the Goliath Scorpions as lapdogs to Clan Wolf. Newly elected saKhan Nelson Elam sought Keller out for a Trial of Greivance over this, pointing out that such co-operation between Clans was something the Blood Spirits had once espoused.

Boasting of his victory over Elam in the subsequent unaugmented trial between the two saKhan's entourages - referred to in Ebon Keshik records as a drunken brawl - Keller repeated the comment to Karianna Schmitt who was inspired to contact Khan Ariel Suvorov and propose co-operation between their Clans. While far from appointing an ilChi to the Goliath Scorpions she agreed to work with them in developing a new OmniMech named for the Stone Lion of Tokasha as if approved the 'Mech would be constructed on that world although based on the
Blood Kite.


Capabilities:
Both clans have been forced to rely on simple and inexpensive designs in the past so they little difficulty agreeing the basic structures. The Stone Lion wraps the engine and modified frame from a Blood Kite in 13.5 tons of ferro-fibrous armour, using the same formula developed in the 2840s for use on the Mars Assault Vehicle.

The layout is based on that of the Blood Kite with space for three large weapon bays, two in the chest and one in the right arm. The left arm is provided with only limited space, typically used for secondary systems. The jumpjet system was retained and the cockpit systems were expanded to include an ECM suite.

The primary configuration draws on the Blood Kite, albeit re-arranged for the new chassis. The triad of large lasers, LRM and SRM launchers gives it considerable impact at any range although careful heat management is vital.

In contrast to the primary configuration, the Stone Lion A is simple and heat-efficient with three Gauss Rifles and three medium lasers. This model was more popular with Goliath Scorpion testers than their Blood Spirit counterparts.

For fire support missions the Stone Lion configuration of choice is the B with two ER PPCs alternating fire with seven LRM launchers. In close quarters, the left arm can bring to bear a cluster of three small lasers for additional firepower.

There are some Mechwarriors for whom there's no substitute for autocannon. The Stone Lion C caters to this, with a pair of ultra autocannon in the chest and a LB 10-X in the right arm. Each arm also mounts an extended range lasers. Like the A configuration, this model handles heat well.

The final configuration so far uses three Large Pulse Lasers for long-range engagements, bolstering these with nine Streak SRM launchers at close ranges. As this potentially more than triples the firepower of the Configuration, Mechwarriors aware of the configuration prefer not to approach a Stone Lion D closer than 300m.

Overview:
To compete in the 90-ton category Merchant Factor Angus Labov went back to Clan Diamond Shark's most iconic product in the assault-class. Over 1,500 Highlander IIC assault 'Mechs had been been produced as upgraded SLDF chassis or as new construction, with hundreds still in service.

In addition to returning production to the original factory on Arcadia, the Diamond Sharks are also planning to steal a page from Inner Sphere strategists and construct 'conversion kits' that can be shipped to every Clan to convert existing Highlanders into the Clansman.

Capabilities:
Although Clan Nova Cats' new RFUM reactor was considered, ultimately the Diamond Sharks made a deal with Clan Hells Horses - also currently not heavily committed to production for Quicksilver to use their proven Light Force reactor - as used on the Incubus light 'Mech.

The original Highlander was very well armoured, designers pared its protection back on the recommendation of Khan Ian Hawker, to maximise the tonnage available for armament. The result was fifty full tons of pod-space was opened up. This does have a negative effect sometimes with Mechwarriors assuming the Clansman is as durable as its forebear. This simply isn't the case and in particular, the legs may buckle if over-strained in a 'Highlander burial' attack.

The Clansman Prime draws heavily from the original Highlander with a Gauss Rifle and LRM racks for long range, alternating with SRMs and Medium Lasers for close range combat. However, the Clansman significantly upgrades the missiles in both cases, firing up to fifty LRMs or sixteen Streak SRMs.

The most common alternate configuration fits a Gauss Rifle in each arm and pairs them with ER PPCs for a formidable long range barrage. The only supporting weapon fitted is a Streak SRM rack in the chest.

The Clansman B is configured for mixed circumstances - the LRMs provide excellent long range bombardment capability but the active probe and ability to pivot the pair of autocannon in all directions make it surprisingly effective in close quarters such as mountains and urban terrain.

Khan Aletha Kabrinski would like to present that there is a perfectly good Werewolf Battlemech out there in her own Clans Kodiak, and that much as the Burrocks converted the Iron Spider to the Glass Spider, they could do the same for the Kodiak.  in fact that was always their plan until the technical difficulties with Pod Mounted MASC Could not be overcome.Since the IlKhan disapproves of injecting any culture into the naming of their mechs all references to Bears have been removed in this proposed Omni, instead we shall call it the DeChevilier.  Please note that the Armor, Engine, and Chassis are identical, Placement of 1 Endo Steel Slot in the head rather then Center Torso is due to the reworkings required to remove the bears head in place of something similar to the Gargoyle or Gladiators head module.

you will note the original Kodiak in all of it's glory, as well as a Scylla, King Crab, Kodiak II, Hellstar, and appropriately enough, Atlas in there.

Menoetius

he AS7-D-H Atlas II Occupies an oddball history within the Clans.  Like the Orion the Atlas II is a chosen Battlemech of a Kerensky, however unlike the Orion, the Atlas II had never been upgraded to Clan Specifications.  it is especially odd that out of the several dozen Atlas IIs that are in storage in Clan Space, the ones that are activated and seen combat are almost never modified outside their original Star League Configuration.

Clan Coyote sought to alter that history in a big way when the opened up Brian Cache number 3715 and unearthed a full Star of Atlas IIs formally in possession of an extinct Clan.  After a complete engineering overhaul that included upgrading the armor to Clan Ferro Fibrous standard and replacing the entire cooling system of the Vlar 300 Series. it was determined that little to no structural changes needed to be made to the basic frame, thanks to the semi modular weaponry already used by the base frame.  Weapon mountings and software upgrades made the Atlas II an Omnimech.  Despite the political capital that might have been made with keeping the Atlas Moniker, Coyote Scientists felt that renaming the mech would have been a better sell for many clans who still considered the Atlas II a sacred or prestigious piece of equipment.  Feeling that Prometheus would bring dishonor to the project after it was revealed that Victor Steiner Davion named his Dire Wolf as such, Menoetius was chosen instead

Each configuration of the Menoetius reflects a specific battle field Niche.  The Primary  configuration reflects the classic Atlas II and is designed for all aspect fighting.  the Dual Purpose Autocannon of the Atlas II is replaced with a Rapdi fire model for more crippling firepower and the large lasers are made clan spec pulse models.  most importantly is that an ECM and active probe are added to the Prime to enhance the command utility of the mech in defensive fighting.

Alternate Configuration A is a close range destroyer, with twin Assault grade autocannons and deep ammunition bins.  a battery of six medium pulse lasers provides backup firepower particularly with two lasers facing rear.

Designed for direct fire support from a relatively fixed position the B uses a quartet of ER Large lasers for the bulk of it's weaponry.  twin LRM 15 racks with six tons of ammunition permit the B to cool while keeping up the pressure, and use alternate munitions to create a more favorable battlefield.

Alternate Configuration C is a recreating of the Coyote's Favored Imp C  with targeted assited energy weapons and a LRM rack to add pressure at range.  Alternate D likewise is a recreation of the Shogun, and provides accurate LRM support with additional close range punch and extra mobility in tight quarters.  Finally Alternate C is a take on the classic Annihilator, while the realities of podspace prohibited the backup energy weapons most are used to seeing witht he Annihilator, four dual purpose cannons is still a nightmare to the ill prepared.

Perhaps as a grand political coups, Clan Coyote Scientists and Warriors presented this mech in the grandest way possible, with all five mechs being marched out to the Katushya battlegrounds in each configuration, demonstrating thier various skills, and then techs rallying forth to demonstrate their Omnimech nature by setting a Speed Record for Omnimech re configuring, placing each mech in it's primary configuration and then giving a Star League salute.  it was announced that construction of the Menoetius could begin in 9 months using the WC#2 Facility on Strana Mechty

I couldn't find the 95 ton Mech that seems to have buggered off into the ether.

For the 3050 Omni's I will need help as they have to be compiled from different fluff and different variants.

BUT.

Lets all agree on one thing.


PUT THE CONFIGS IN THEIR OWN SCROLL BOX

Its just a horrid thing to read looking at 6 - 7 configs for a Mech in a single code box, it blurs together and becomes a TLDR.  So please, for sanity's sake, put each config in its own code box so we can scroll them more easily.

OVERVIEW
Already in production and popular among several Clans, the Fire Moth is considered unsuitable for combat with the heavier OmniMechs that dominate the Trials fought in the Kerensky Cluster, and losses have been heavy to the Mechanized Infantry (conventional and Battlearmor) and armored vehicles that accompany Inner Sphere forces despite being primarily used to deliver Elementals to the battlefield.

As interest and enthusiasm for the IlKhan’s Quicksilver Trials began to make inroads among the Ghost Bear Warrior Caste, the products of those same Trials began to inflict growing losses in Trials across the Kerensky Cluster.  While still an effective method of delivering Elementals, saKhan Aletha Kabrinski challenged Scientists and Warriors to update and improve its performance in the Cluster and against the forces of the Inner Sphere, attracting both allies and foes from a cross-section of the Clans, in essence widening the Quicksilver Trials across the existing ‘Mechs of the Touman.
Clan Steel Viper was a surprise addition to the project, bidding several Stars of Solahma infantry to obtain access to the data being gathered by the Ghost Bears, although several Clans (both allied and opposing) have taken note of the Fire Moth’s new configurations after field tests confirmed their effectiveness.

CAPABILITIES
One of the fastest OmniMechs built by the Clans, the Fire Moth can easily outpace most Inner Sphere ‘Mechs and vehicles before using its efficiently-designed Configurations to complete its mission, whether defeating the opponent or delivering Elementals to the battlefield.  During the course of the project nearly every Configuration was changed in some way, in most cases at the urging of Solahma Warriors reflecting experience gained over decades in active service both at the controls and fighting against it.
The Prime, with its heavy SRM battery and ammo-independent ER Medium Lasers that allowed it to remain in the field indefinitely won praise from all involved, but Merchants consulted during testing advised replacing the SRM-6 with a second SRM-4 to make ammo resupply in the field easier. Moving it into the Left Torso with another ton of ammunition increased mission endurance substantially, while one of the ER Medium Lasers was moved to the Left Arm where it providing the greatest field of fire. The remaining tonnage was used to add an ER Small Laser to the right arm, compensating for the loss of damage potential at close range.  Proving itself in Trials on Niles, the Hell’s Horses have begun to adopt several of the new configurations as part of their own aggressive Battlearmor tactics.

Considered a mediocre scout, Warriors assigned to Alternate Configuration A frequently found themselves unable to defend themselves effectively when detected, leading Warriors with experience from Operation Revival and the growing use of Fire Moths for high-speed recon to locate guerrillas and ambushes to suggest a radical change.  Retaining the Active Probe and TAG while adding a versatile ECM Suite to assist in the scouting role, the new Configuration is optimized to engage the multiple ‘soft’ targets frequently encountered in ambushes with the substitution of Flamers and Machine Guns.

Closely related to the ‘A’ Configuration, Alternate Configuration B reduces the electronics in favor of an anti-infantry specialist oriented to eliminating enemy Battlearmor and Light vehicles while remaining ammunition free with the exception of a pair of Machine Guns sharing a half-ton of ammunition.  Moving both Medium Pulse Lasers to the arms with ER Small Lasers mounting below (mimicking the Primary Configuration of the Timber Wolf), a third ER Small is mounted in the Left Torso. Split between the two side torsos, ammunition from the right torso feeds both Machine Guns.
Despite the ammo endurance of Alternate Configuration C, the Fire Moth frequently found itself unable to match that endurance with only two tons of Ferro-Fibrous armor across the ‘Mech.  Tested against the Svantovit and Shamash who reach comparable speeds, the Bears elected to rely on the accuracy provided by the Artemis IV system mated with a LRM-15 mounted in the Right Torso to allow the Fire Moth to support friendly units at long range before returning to re-supply before the armor protection is breached, reducing losses and providing a significantly larger impact on the battlefield when available.

Favored as a skirmisher and in augmented Trials by Warriors, Alternate Configuration D remained untouched. Despite heat concerns its five Extended Range Medium Lasers tied to a Targeting Computer along with a Flamer provide superior mid-range offense for this ultra-fast Light OmniMech.

Taking note of the Inner Sphere designs favoring a large, single weapon designed as an ultra-mobile fire support platform, Alternate Configuration E uses an ER Large Laser mounted in the Left Arm with the added accuracy provided by a Targeting Computer to engage effectively at range. An ECM suite makes the Fire Moth a more difficult target, while the remaining tonnage is allocated to the E’s single defensive weapon, an ER Small in the right arm that receives the same benefits.  Embraced by the Scorpions, Hellions, and Spirits, the new Configuration’s mix of firepower and mobility make it a threat that cannot be ignored.

Choosing to replace the entire Configuration with the new B, Steel Viper Warriors assigned to the project suggested a radical combination of specialty ammunition for special circumstances to be utilized by three standard SRM-6s.  The F is equipped with two tons of ammunition, maximizing flexibility while limiting potentially crippling ammunition explosions.
Another Configuration hoping to make the Fire Moth an effective combatant by limiting exposure to the enemy, the G features a single offensive weapon, either an ER PPC (or Large Pulse Laser depending on circumstances). 

The defensive ER Small Laser also seen on the E is retained to provide a backup weapon in case of damage or Elemental attack.  Proposed by Star Commander Bjarni of the Ghost Bear contingent re-assigned from the InnerSphere, the G is anticipated to be a popular choice for Trials among Light ‘Mech pilots, especially the Hellions.
Seeking to maximize the ability of the Fire Moth to deliver Elementals through difficult terrain, the G carries an unprecedented ten Jump Jets to cross 300 meters at a time, but relies on a single ER Small Laser to defend itself.  Concerned with the potential of losing this variant, an Active Probe was used to assist in the detection of hidden units.  Anticipated to be restricted to Solahma Warriors, the –J is expected to be used only in unusual circumstances.

   Seeking to match the Fire Moth’s immense speed with the maximum short-range firepower and accuracy, the K mimics the layout of the popular Nova OmniMech to deliver a stunning blow with the assistance of the Targeting Computer mounted in the Right Torso. Ten ER Small Lasers across the Arms and Torsos are accompanied by a single A-Pod to defend against conventional infantry at close range. Suggested by Warriors assigned to the project from the Goliath Scorpions, the remaining Clans are considering using the K to replace the D in Trials where skirmishing is expected.

DEPLOYMENT

Having successfully proved the viability of the Fire Moth amongst the six Clans who favored deploying it in a combat role, the outcome of the spate of Trials has caused several others to reconsider their former reluctance to consider it for Front-Line service, at least in the Inner Sphere.  The Smoke Jaguars, hoping to limit the disruption to Front-Line Clusters faced with civil disobedience have deployed the Fire Moth (particularly the –A Configuration) to Solahma Warriors, leading to a surprising number of upsets in Trials of Grievance by Warriors allowed to use standard Configurations.
   As Clans such as he Bears and Horses continue to use the Fire Moth’s high ground (and now Jump) mobility to aggressively deploy Elementals. Cloud Cobra which has embraced the ‘ParaJump’ maneuvers have also taken note of how the highly agile J Configuration can enhance their own operations. Other Clans such as the Ice Hellions, Coyotes, and Steel Vipers prefer using several of the most aggressive skirmishing or assault Configurations in roles similar to the old ‘Headhunter’ ‘Mechs of the Star League, penetrating deeply into enemy-held territory to strike with lightning speed either with the support of an Elemental Point or alone.

   With the exception of Blood Sprit and Fire Mandrill all the rest of the Clans also utilize the Fire Moth but prefer other twenty-ton designs. Burrock, Diamond Shark, Jade Falcon, Nova Cat, Smoke Jaguar, Steel Viper, and Wolf tend to operate this tiny speed demon infrequently but in traditional ways. While Snow Raven and Star Adder in particular make more extensive use of this light war machine often reserving it for scouting roles rather than dedicated combat duty.

Long the staple of Clan Jade Falcon's Eye Stars the Falcons leapt at the Quicksilver upgrade program, taking a lot of information from Warriors as well as BattleROM recordings to try and correct the flaws of the Kit Fox with as little delay to production as possible.

One problem that was noted again and again was the Kit Fox's lack of speed, with it being outrun by every other Light Mech in general use with the Clans or unable to gain on them.  And this was true of the wide number of designs faced in the Inner Sphere, it could either match their speed or they would be faster, giving them the chance to dictate the battle.  Initial designs added a MASC system, but this would have required extensive muscular alterations to the design and would slow production.  The programme would instead focus on firepower.

Prime - Retaining the generalist feel of the pre-Quicksilver refits the Prime drops the LB-X autocannon and upgrades the Streak launcher to a 6-shooter.  The ER large laser is retained whilst the small pulse laser is upgraded to a medium pulse laser.  An ER small provides additional firepower at point blank range whilst an LRM-10 with Artemis allows the Kit Fox to engage at the longest of ranges.  An ECM was also added, the unpleasant introduction and rapidly spreading C3 system made disrupting it a priority.  To be effective a spotter would have to get in close and this could be countered with the firepower of the Mech as well as the ECM that was the same on the Hellbringer.   With a more potent long range punch and improved firepower at shorter ranges the Prime is still a jack of all trades, but less scatter-brained than the standard Kit Fox, and no longer quite so at the mercy of faster opponents.

C - The original's C config was already an electric warfare speiclaist, so I've decided to make it combat effective as well. First tsk was to remove two of the AMS units along with three tons ammo. This allowed for the addition of six lump jets. Additionally, the weapons layout has also been modified. A large pulse laser replaces the ER large laser. An ER small laser replaces the small pulser. In order to
fit these changes, the A-pods hade to be removed while the two machineguns were retained.

D - The original D could be politely described as series 'curious design choices'.  A missile support unit that had a heavy system that enhanced its missiles, but only if it got close.  The Quicksilver D eliminates the almost pointless NARC pod as well as the LRM-5 and its ammo.  The LRM-15's now benefit from an Artemis IV on each launcher and their endurance is increased with the addition of a 3rd ton of ammunition with 2 per launcher and the 3rd shared between the launchers.  Short range firepower was covered by a quartet of ER Small lasers that were suggested by a Clan Goliath Scorpion Scientist.

G - The Kit Fox G was often confused with the Prime but the ultra-autocannon lacked the anti-aircraft and anti-vehicle utility of the other 'Mech while not quite comparing to the firepower of the A. The Kit Fox Golf swaps in the LB 5-X  previously found on the Prime, and adds two additional missile launchers. While it lacks a knock-out punch, the G has been effective against FedCom
skirmishing elements, posing a serious threat to the VTOLs, hovercraft and light 'Mechs serving as a RCT's eyes and ears.

H - Clan Hells Horses worked to refit the A, and whilst the temptation was there to retain the gauss rifle for its pure knockdown power, seeing the hordes of armoured vehicles often deployed by the Inner Sphere often made this weapon overkill and thus less efficient.  The big rifle also tended to make the under-armoured Kit Fox a priority target to eliminate the big gun before it could be used effectively.  Retaining the MASC system added by the Falcons, the Horses removed the gauss rifle and replaced it with an LB-10 autocannon and 2 tons of ammo.  A third medium laser was also added, giving the Kit Fox an increased punch at medium range.  Firing beehive rounds the LB-10 can disable larger tanks as well as provide an effective deterrent against air attack.  As infantry tended to accompany tanks, a pair of flamers were also included, although field refits often replaced these with a single small pulse laser.

I - A variation on the original S variant which upgrades the Streak SRM-4s to Streak SRM-6s. The large and medium pulsers are now gone; replaced a pair of ER medium lasers and two more machineguns. The torso-mounted MGs share one ammo bin, while the two arm-mounted MGs share the other. Given the Spheroid armies use large formations of tanks and infantry, this Echo configuration is ideally suited to combat them on the battlefield.

Adder/Puma

Despite being designed prior to Operation REVIVAL as an OPFOR (OPposing FORce) Mech and one that would counter the most common Inner Sphere Mechs, the numerous Medium class machines that were still in service to the Successor States, the Adder had flaws that the Scientists working on the Quicksilver program turned their attention to.  Both Clan Wolf and Jade Falcon supported this programme fully. They had the most experience of using the Adder in its 'natural' environment, that of fighting the Inner Sphere powers and offered much useful insight despite the two Clans ongoing rivalry.  Heat concerns, strange weapon choices and a lack of speed were all noticable concerns as the Adder often found itself unable to disengage once an opponent closed the distance due to its barely above average speed.

A – Warriors expressed their approval of the standard A version although the biggest criticism came from its choice of secondary armament.  With a flamer for anti-infantry work the paired small pulse lasers were felt to be superfluous, and too short ranged to deter any Mech that might engage.  These were removed and replaced with a quartet of ER Small lasers.  This improved the Mech’s bite at shorter ranges and gave the Warriors a weapon with a greater range to deter an attacker, or to finish off a weakened opponent damaged by the missile barrages.  Initially the installation of Artemis IV fire control for the launchers was considered but Warriors all insisted on having a weapon they could use if their ammo bins ran dry.

B - Another creation of the Adder, this new B configuration uses an upgunned version of the LB-X autocannon. To make room for the heavier weapon the large pulse removed and replaced a medium pulse laser. The two ER medium lasers werer etained but are now mounted in the right arm. This gives the new configuration greater stopping power while sacrificing a bit of range. This was deemed acceptable by the Adder team.

C - The Adder A was had tremendous bite in the fire support role, but was felt to  be wasteful of ammunition given that many missiles tend to miss even if the salvo is overall on target. Therefore the Diamond Sharks elected to draw more from the Adder C in providing the Star Adders with a new missile boat configuration, demonstrating that the more accurate missiles would deliver the
very nearly as much damage to targets even with smaller salvos. Switching the lasers out for extended range medium lasers gives something to fall back on if ammunition runs out, although with twenty salvos per launcher this isn't especially common and often Mechwarriors use one or both lasers to supplement the missiles.

D - The Adder D was offered as a dedicated in-fighter. The ComGuards had learned from observing the earlier waves of the invasion that drawing the Clans into point-blank ranges. The Diamond Sharks devised the D to turn this back against anyone attempting this in the future. In keeping with the Adder tradition, the light 'Mech is agile and can hit well above its weight and is optimised for close range engagements in tight quarters - something warriors recalled from the Merchant Caste refer to as 'aggressive negotiations'.

E - The standard Adder Prime was a fearsome combatant, its ER PPCs offered tremendous hitting power for a Mech its size, allowing it to gun down hostile Inner Sphere Light and Medium Mech's with ease whilst also being a significant threat to Heavy and even Assault class units.  This punch had its drawbacks though.  Firing both ER PPC's caused massive heat spikes, which were only made worse when the Mech moved.  Firing both cannons often meant that the Mech could not safely fire for a full 30 seconds. Even firing a single cannon during this cooling phase risked an even worse heat spike.  This often meant that the second particle cannon acted as a 'reserve' weapon as a Warrior could not really fire both cannons without badly affecting his or her Mech's performance and risking a shut down. 
The heavy and irregular heat surges also had a negative effect on the Adder's cooling system, leading to its coolant fluids needing to be replaced twice as often compared to other Mech's.  With this firmly in mind the Falcons and Wolves both designed a sniper that, to quote one Warrior "Would not allow you to cook a steak on its hull if you fired its weapons." 

The obvious choice was replacing the paired particle cannons with a pair of ER lasers.  Whilst the lasers lack the punch of the cannons, they have a greater range and a lesser heat burden, as well as saving a considerable amount of tonnage to allow the installation of an extra four tons of heat sinks.

The lighter lasers also reduced the weight of the targeting computer that was retained from the Prime, and additional weapons were added if the Mech found itself in close quarter, with a single ER Small laser being mounted coaxially alongside the ER large laser in each arm.  Finally, an ECM system was installed.  This was viewed as a useful defensive measure and could fool hostile targeting computers whilst allowing the Mech to engage from long range.

F - While most of the Inner Sphere could not match the high speeds of the Clan's advanced machines, the ComGuards had access to Hermes and Hussar light 'Mechs which relied upon their speed to scout out Clan lines of advance and skirmish with them. While classic Adder Prime has more than enough firepower to deal with such units when they scored hits, sustained fire wasn't practical and accuracy was less than impressive. The Diamond Sharks argued in favor of using Large Pulse Lasers, which made the firepower readily sustainable even when the Adder is moving, and greatly increased the chances of hitting. Clan Star Adder has found this configuration useful against Ice Hellion's flurry tactics.

G – It was felt that a second missile heavy variant of the Adder was not needed and that the installation of a NARC launcher was detrimental to the design as it made the Mech close to use it, with the NARC in turn acting more as a deterrent than a useful weapon system.  Instead the Scientists just replicated the Kit Fox A’s config but on a considerably sturdier hull.  The combination of a Gauss rifle with 2 tons of ammo and a pair of ER Medium lasers gave the Mech a respectable punch and adequate endurance.  But now it was mounted on a chassis that could at least take some return fire unlike the woefully fragile Kit Fox.

Additional backup weapons include a medium pulser and a pair of ER small lasers. an additional double heat sink aids with heat dissipation generated the by jets and the ER PPC.

Overview:
Clan Ghost Bear, as the most prolific users of the Viper, were disappointed by its performance against the Inner Sphere. To determine the reasons for this, the Khans chose to take a fresh look at the design. Assigning forty-five of the OmniMechs to a Planetary Garrison Cluster made up entirely of Inner Sphere bondsmen the Clan then deployed a cluster of warriors fresh from the Homeworlds against them in a series of trials with the offer of full acceptance as a frontline force by one of the two clusters depending on which proved the stronger.

While divided in outlook (since the Ghost Bears hadn't considered that a third of the Bondsmen were DCMS veterans rather than Kungsarme) and subject to one mutiny when a binary tried to seize a dropship in the hope of somehow escaping across the truce line, the garrison cluster put up a ferocious fight against the inexperienced warriors and provided a plethora of data for analysis as they utilised innovative configurations and tactics unhampered by Clan doctrine and thinking.

Casualties in the trials were such that the Ghost Bear Khans ultimately deemed themselves unable to identify a clear winner and merged both sides into a single Cluster that has been granted frontline status. How this will work out is presumably another experiment.


Prime - The primary configuration of the Viper was under-armed even by the limited pod-space of the 'Mech. Arguing that the speed of the Mech was a better defense against missiles than the AMS, the Ghost Bears have removed this and replaced the pulse lasers with extended range lasers. This provided room for another pair of machineguns for use against armoured and unarmoured infantry, as well as a significantly upgrade of the missile armament to a pair of Streak launchers that conserve ammunition and upgrade the 'Mech's punch.

B - Nicknamed the "SuperPanther" by the Bondsmen who developed it, the Beta configuration starts from the Viper B but replaces the pulse lasers and flamer with a SRM launchers. With half again the firepower and double the mobility of the Panther that Rasalhague and Draconian Mechwarriors were familiar with, the Viper Beta proved itself in hit and run operations.

C - With an active probe and a terrifying anti-infantry payload, the Viper C saw use in garrison roles during the Invasion. The Viper Gamma scales back the ammunition bins in favour of two more lasers and removes the active probe in favour of more machineguns and another heatsink. While it still requires careful heat management, the configuration can now threaten battle armour as well as conventional infantry. With Inner Sphere battle armour beginning to arrive on the battlefield, the Khans find this a valuable modification.

D - Replacing the rather unfocused Viper D, the Delta configuraiton switches to a fire support platform with a single artemis-guided LRM rack backed up by a pair of medium lasers. This configuration was adopted by Clan Mechwarriors facing the bondsman PGC who had concluded their foes were dezgra. Several of the isorla mechwarriors were killed by Clan Mechwarriors concentrating their fire in massed LRM barrages during the later stages of the trials. Aletha Kabrinski was heard to say that this was a sign that they were now fit to fight the Inner Sphere.

E - These modifications left the traditional A configuration's extended range lasers and artemis-guided SRMs as unnecessary so the bondsmen filled this gap with what they considered a glaring lack in the standard configurations: a dedicated electronics platform to act as a heavy scout. Investigations are still underway into how they obtained a Huitzilopochtli assault tank to support them in the first Trial of the Viper Alpha and there have been complaints about the dishonourable nature of the attack, but as the combination wiped out a Star of Elementals the effectiveness is not in doubt.

F – Designed to be a deep penetration raider, harasser and infantry hunter the F features an all energy armament and is built with an eye towards quickly dispatching hostile light and medium weight Mechs quickly and efficiently.  To this end it is armed with a trio of Medium pulse lasers whilst anti-infantry firepower comes from a pair of small pulse lasers, more than enough to reduce a squad to charred ruin in moments.  Finally, an ER small laser provides additional firepower.  With its speed and huge jumping capability, the F can get into position to engage a foe from their weakest point as well as run down nearly every Scout Mech in the Inner Sphere.

Pouncer

The new Khan of the Coyotes had cleverly reactivated the Coyotl and pressed the old machine back into service. Winning his high office with one clearly signaled its return to the battlefield despite some stigma attached by those who considered it a Solhoma OmniMech. Faster and more heavily armored the Coyotl lacked the inherent mobility of the Pouncer but matched its pod space exactly. Despite a spirited competition from Coyotl age caught up with many of the machines which suffered breakdowns that the younger Pouncer simply outmatched. Coyote made out in the end by offering to assist its old ally in refining the design which it adopted as it preferred 40 ton design.

Delta Galaxy Commander Ward began assigning a mobile trinary to each of his clusters and assembled a new unit, the 9th Wolf Guards (building on an error in the Wolf Clan SB), around the Pouncer. Piloted by Crusader Supremacists convinced of the inherent superiority of their Clan these eager fanatics fearlessly challenge all would be comers.  The Wolves new allies, the Star Adder, also agreed to help develop the Pouncer as their preferred Mech based on its Adder legacy. The Smoke Jaguars who looked at the Pouncer as an exemplar of their totem animal were determined to take the design by force. Winning a share of production also exacted a measure of vengeance for Quicksilver and Ulric’s continuing Warden tyranny over the Clans.
 
Utilizing their mercantile contacts Diamond Shark and Nova Cat who do not use the Viper (Dragonfly) made several deals to go almost exclusively to the Pouncer as their 40 ton OmniMech after engaging in cursory combat. Also studying this OmniMech for potential uses are the Burrocks (looking to bulk up its medium forces, ties to Star Adder), Goliath Scorpion (ties to 4th Striker Cluster), and Cloud Cobra (moving to a more mobile doctrine, Para Clusters, ties to Star Adder).

A - The Pouncer Alpha is less compromising than it's Clan Wolf counterpart: scaling back the lasers that serve as a secondary armament to only a pair of small lasers to fit a third LRM rack and another ton of ammunition. This configuration was deployed the Jaguars to engage Tai-i Kaburagi's captured Pouncer Primary, with Warrior Enjou using his mobility to avoid direct hits from the extended range PPCs, able to maintain a full rate of fire back while Kaburagi was forced to mitigate his rate of fire to avoid a shutdown as his captured OmniMech overheated.

B - Since their Prime fills the paired large laser role of the Pouncer B, the Jaguars instead focused on expanding the SRM racks and the Beta's eighteen Streak SRMs are a formidable anti-vehicle punch, but the true nightmare is eleven small lasers that can tear through the armour of even heavy 'Mechs at close range. Smoke Jaguar warriors enjoy using the terrain to close in and unleash them on the rear of heavier Wolf and Nova Cat 'Mechs to great effect.

D - In Delta-configuration the Pouncer mixes an accurate LRM rack with a quintet of medium lasers tied into a targeting computer. With additional heatsinks so it can jump and use the lasers, the Pouncer is excellent for city fighting and swapping out one laser for the LRMs gives it long-range punch.

E - Mariska of the Conners Bloodhouse believes in hitting the enemy hard and fast and that is why she replace Ultra 10 of the C configuration of the Pouncer with a Gauss Rifle. F - This variation on the Prime was used by Keiji Perez in his Bloodname Trial following the defeat of the Clans on Tukayyid and is a deviation from the long-range sniper as it is geared more towards urban or close-quarters fighting. A large laser replaces on of the ER PPCs while three medium pulse lasers replaces the other. The targeting computer remains to accurize these weapons. For added
anti-infantry weaponry two machineguns have also been added. These do come in handy when dealing Combine rebels and insurgents.
Finally, a six the jump jet has also been mounted for increased ability in enclosed quarters and urban areas. The ECM isused only in defensive operations  or during ambushes.

G - Looking for an anti-insurgent load, the Jaguars replaced the Pouncer C's autocannon with an LB-X model effective against light vehicles and replaced the laser array with anti-infantry weapons. The Gamma lacks a single heavy punch but it has been very effective in policing the Occupation Zone and in picking up Clan Elementals trying to launch ambushes.

H - While the Pouncer's primary configuration has superb firepower for its size, the Smoke Jaguars argued that it had poor heat management over an extended battle. Clan Wolf found this an amusing assertion from a Clan fond of sudden overwhelming attacks, but found the new H configuration less pleasant as the heterogenous large lasers remain highly effective against light and medium 'Mechs such as their own Pouncers or the Fenris, with the LRM launcher making up for the slightly lighter alpha damage.

I - Samira of the Arbuthnots has developed this variation of the Prime and B configurations, but has been optimized for closer combat.  It has a large pulse mated to a brace each of ER medium and small lasers. The targeting computer helps Samira increase her accuracy when engaged in defense of Goliath Scorpion asstes. For additional firepower, Streak SRM-6 gives added punch at close ranges.

Battle Cobra

Overview
     Critiqued as a design well past its prime and with relatively few Warriors willing to endorse the design, the Viper’s Battle Cobra was seen as a poor choice for continued production despite its reputation as a well-designed OmniMech.  Seizing the opportunity to renew interest in the design, Khan Perigard Zalman ordered a series of Trials to update the Cobra’s Configurations to better reflect the experiences of Operation: Revival.  Once the competition began, none of the entries showed a clear advantage over their opponents; each conformed to the expected pattern of Endo-Steel skeleton, Standard fusion engine, and heavy armor.  Pod space, a primary concern among most Warriors fell to comparable levels of standard BattleMechs found in the Inner Sphere, resulting in a competition focused more on Configurations and ease of maintenance rather than the durability and endurance extolled by their designers.

First sighted by the Draconis Combine where the Battle Cobra earned the name Nozuchi, a fat snake like demon of Japanese legend for its squat, broad form and clearly cobra esque stylizing, the Battle Cobra whilst derided by some Warriors as being little more than a standard Mech became quite popular.  ComStar referred to the Battle Cobra as the Hooded Cobra for its wide shoulders and stylized hull features.

A – Initially developed by Warrior Harken, a Steel Viper Warrior who was tasked with countering insurgents within the Viper worlds within their OZ, the A trades its long-range firepower for a blistering fusillade of firepower at short ranges that can cut through infantry and hostile vehicles very quickly with a torrent of laser energy.  This was made all the more lethal with the addition of a targeting computer.  Upon seeing a ROM of the Mech in action, the Goliath Scorpions immediately replicated the design before trading it to the Mandrils and Spirits (whom rejected the variant).

With a staggering 10 ER small lasers supported by two small pulse lasers the A can carve up hostile targets very quickly, whilst a pair of ER medium lasers serve as the Mech’s long ranged bite.  Firing all the weapons can result in vicious heat spikes though, but the damage it can do is staggering, especially for a 40-ton design.

B - A rising ground commander among one of more fighter-focused Clans, Star Commander Bashibazouk Izumi of Clan Cloud Cobra is fond of what she calls zoom and boom tactics. Even so she found the Battle Cobra B a rather excessive heat burden and swapped out the secondary lasers to make it easier to off-set the massive heat generated by the pair of Extended Range PPCs, particularly when moving quickly.

D - Coming from Clan Cloud Cobra, the D is another close-range brawler, but with higher technology weapons than the A.  A pair of Streak SRM-6’s form the main armament, whilst paired ER medium lasers and a pair of medium pulse lasers round out the armament. 
The Streak missiles were found to be particularly effective against Elementals and hostile vehicles. That the D also used the same missile launchers as the Crossbow and its TTS also saved on construction costs and allowed cross-compatibility were also positive marks.

F -      Aware of the Clan’s lack of sophisticated electronics and the need to husband resources in line with Khan Ceana Boques 2854 guidelines for BattleMech development, the Blood Spirits took notice of the –F Configuration when Clan Steel Viper approached them with an offer to join a coalition of Clans contributing resources to make their Battle Cobra OmniMechs more potent.
Formalizing the favored Blood Spirit Configuration the Head-mounted ER-Large Laser and twin, Torso-mounted LRM-15s use the most common weapons in the Spirit Touman.  With three tons of ammunition and only slight heat concerns, Khan Zalman lured the Spirits into declaring the Battle Cobra their preferred Medium OmniMech.

H - Coming from Clan Burrock the C was designed to burrow through hostile Mech’s and hunt down faster forces, to this end it is a combination of the pre-Quicksilver Prime and A.  Armed with a Large pulse laser and a quartet of Medium pulse lasers the C combines accuracy and heavy firepower at the cost of some range and a moderate heat spike.  The C proved to be especially potent in an ambush situation in built up terrain where it could bring its heavy firepower to bare at short range with very high chances of hitting.  Of minor note, this was also the first Battle Cobra to have hand actuators, with the lasers mounted around the hand, or under the barrel like forearm in the case of the large pulse laser.

I – A joint Viper/Cloud Cobra variant, the I is designed to counter Aerospace and vehicle forces whilst still being able to engage hostile Mechs.  Initial tests with an LB-10 autocannon found that the Mech’s shoulder joints were not able to take the recoil forces involved with the gun firing without suffering undue wear and tear on the actuators.  The weight of the big gun also severely limited other options.  Thus, the LB-10 was replaced with a lighter LB-5 which was fed by two tons of ammunition instead of the one of the LB-10.  With far greater battlefield endurance and a greater range the LB-5 was found to be an adequate weapon against ground and air targets as the cluster shells could foul hostile vehicles motive systems whilst shredding an aerospace fighters control surfaces. 
Four ER medium lasers fill out the final armament whilst an ECM can help jam hostile electronics or fool strafing aerospace fighters with ghost targets.  Although it was more expensive to produce, this also made it popular with the Spirits, and their opponents aerospace assets soon learned that a dug in Battle Cobra I was a tough and dangerous opponent.

Fire Falcon

Overview:
Built by Clan Jade Falcon for the invasion, the Fire Falcon wasn't completed in time for the initial waves and it was first encountered during the one year lull in attacks, as AFFS units attempted to replicate the success of Victor Steiner-Davion's Twycross raid.

Codenamed the Skadi by the AFFS for the Norse goddess of the hunt, the OmniMechs were used by freeborn and unblooded Clan Warriors with great effect against Inner Sphere Mechwarriors who had anticipated that the Falcons would rely mostly upon the slower Kit Fox in their lighter units.

The Jade Falcons have continued to work to refine the design based upon these encounters and the Battle of Tukkayid. As a result, the Fire Falcons has drawn the attention of other Clans, in particular the Ghost Bears and Nova Cats, both of whom sought new OmniMechs to replenish their touman after battlefield losses.

D - The Nova Cats, in contrast to the Falcons, developed the Delta into a ruthlessly pragmatic design based upon the Star League's Kintaro. Having traded several Fire Falcons with the Hell's Horses, the Nova Cats can now pair the Delta with Huitzilopochtli tanks, using the light 'Mechs to mark out enemy units with beacons and then harry them while the tank supports them with TAG-homing Arrow IV missiles. This horrendous breech of zellbrigen led to several threats from the more traditional clans of dire retribution should these tactics ever be employed against them. This hasn't stopped Clan Coyote trying to obtain Fire Falcons to pair with their Naga omnimech in a similar fashion.

E - Clan Ghost Bear have been able to negotiate limited access to the Fire Falcon, something that leaves Clan Wolf potentially facing the design on both sides of their invasion corridor. The Ghost Bear's preference is to mount jump-jets and a PPC, letting the Fire Falcon negotiate difficult terrain and strike with a concentrated punch that few 'Mechs in its weight bracket can survive. The flamers mounted in each arm have sparked mixed feelings in the Bears' occupation zones: while they're a fearsome threat to insurgents, the Clan sagaciously accepted a petition to fill the Kungsarme's role in responding to forest fires on Kempfen. Holovids showing the 'Mechs setting counter-fires to contain the seasonal blazes have been of significant propaganda value for the Ghost Bears in showing them as more than merely conquerors.

F - The new F configuration of the Fire Falcon mimicks the immensely successful Timber Wolf.In the initial stages of battle, the 'Mech can soften up a target with LRMs mounted above and behind the cockpit. Closing in, the four arm-mounted lasers provide for a decisive strike and in extreme need the Fire Falcon F can close to point-blank range and add two torso mounted lasers in a concentrated alpha strike.

Arctic Cheetah

Overview:
Developed by the Ice Hellions and seized by the Smoke Jaguars shortly after production began, the Arctic Cheetah (Hankyu according to DCMS recognition guides) has proliferated well beyond these two Clans. The Nova Cats and Steel Vipers both make extensive use of the OmniMech, which made the Arctic Cheetah an increasingly common sight during the Fifth Wave of Operation Revival.


Both Clans have focused on developing new and more deadly configurations for the Arctic Cheetah, if for differing reasons. Clan Steel Viper's stated reason is that they seek to replace the aged Mist Lynx with the Hankyu in frontline service. Meanwhile, forced into proximity with their hated rivals, the Smoke Jaguars, Nova Cat warriors are eager to move away from configurations developed by that Clan.


Prime V2. - Realising that not every Star needed an EW powerhouse with them, as well as the expense of the electronics outfit and the resources they took up which could be put to use elsewhere these were removed.  The flamer was also removed and replaced with an ER Small laser.  The big change came with the missile systems, these were instead upgraded to a pair of LRM-10s, each with their own 1 ton ammo bin.  Although endurance is somewhat limited, the Prime V2 combines firepower and agility.

A - A very simple weapons swap, the A looses the flamer and small pulse laser and gains an ER Medium and small laser.  The anti-infantry weapons were felt to be of little use at point blank range and the ER medium better supports the Streak launchers and gives the A some 'long ranged' weaponry to use whilst closing the distance.  Pilots also appreciated the extra throw weight and not having to rely on 'pea shooters' if they managed to empty their ammo bins.

B - The biggest change of the series, this saw the removal of the light autocannon and its associated ammunition as it was felt that whilst useful as an AA weapon, the autocannon's performance against Mech's was too limited to have it consume most of the tonnage available to the Arctic Cheetah.  The obvious choice was an ER PPC, which gave the machine a far greater throw weight at nearly the same range, and would not cut into a Clusters logistics.  The medium pulse laser was downgraded and the cooling system enhanced.  Although in this case the flamer was retained in its mounting under the particle cannon.

D - The Nova Cats' new Primary configuration looks very similar to the original externally, with the main change being the replacement of a right-torso flamer with a left-torso small laser. The subtle changes are the removal of the sophisticated electronics of the original Prime, which the Nova Cats felt were ill-suited to what they saw as a long-range skirmisher. Instead they fitted two
additional jump-jets and upgraded the missile launchers to use artemis guidance. The small laser replacing the flamer seems to be less a tactical decision and more due to the installation of a flamer in every Smoke Jaguar confuguration.

G - As with the Nova Cats, the Steel Vipers decided an autocannon wasn't ideal for use with such a limited payload so their Foxtrot configuration is a missile boat with a pair of LRM-15 racks. A single small laser provides the only back-up firepower and ammunition stores are limited but Viper Mechwarriors find it an easy transition from their Battle Cobra medium 'Mechs.

H - This configuration comes courtesy of the Diamond Sharks who took a completely different by equipping this new model with a large pulse laser.  While it lacks the range of the ER large laser, it makes up for it by being naturally more accurate. The remainder of the weaponry is much more short-ranged is adequate for use against battle armor and the conventional vehicles that are prevalent among spheroid forces.
