...Mmm, kinda. The list of stuff it can carry will need to be explained later, in the 'Acceptable Technology' chart - basically, a list of stolen tech and its introduction date into my AU.
Its like my kid packing a lunchbox. At 20 tons, its enough for a light machine gun and a half ton of ammo, with no armor, .75 tons after the IS penalty of .25/ton is paid for. At 50 tons, its 2 free tons, enough for a pair of MLs or (preferably) heatsinks, just in case they get shot off. 100 ton mechs get 3.75 tons, after the IS penalty - 3 heatsinks with a half ton of armor, or 3 MLs and a half ton of armor. Whatever.
Now, a 150 ton Assault Component packs a way bigger lunchbox - 5.75 tons after the IS penalty is paid. The way the prototype is designed, it pays .5 tons for the equipment to hold the modular 'Pod', and gets a turret with 4 ML and a ton of armor to protect it. And because its a side-mounted turret, it covers the entire left or right side to keep the 'bugs' off it.
The 200 ton Heavy Assault Component gets 10 tons. Possibly Inferno launchers, MLs, small lasers, booby traps to lay Assault Component-sized minefields, whatever. They have special rules about kicks because of the number of legs, and a system called a "Limb Extension" (basically a stilt) that turns a 40-point kick into a 60-point. I'm not worried at enemy mechs closing anymore, I'm worried about Alamos and Santa Anas.
I'm still thinking about how many the 200 ton should be able to carry - if I give it
4, thats the equivilant of a medium mech to kick those 'bugs' in the teeth. I think I'm going to stick with 2, one on either side. For now
