WOW that was a surprise to see. I had just finished reading (skimming) through A short Primer for Creating an Alternate Universe. Talking about a long post lol.

However I stumbled on this thread and thought it would only be polite to swing in and respond.

A bit about myself. I am an inspiring author with a love and knack for telling a good story. I love writing and role playing. These passions have come together in my latest work. An Alternate Universe version for Battletech. Well not a complete alternate universe, mostly just a small part in the core of the Inner Sphere with large ties.

I mean to post my work here for review, suggestions and well okay feedback.

I have already read some work and hope that my own measures up to your liking.

Akira

PS how long will I have to do the verification?

Really, as long as there is an unbroken line of people calling themselves "Clan Nova Cat," it doesn't really matter to me if they're still using Iron Wombs or not. They may be dead as a faction, but as a people they still exist. It's not uncommon in the real world, after all.

Howdy Akira!

We like to welcome the new members to our forum! :)

I hope you enjoy your time here and if you need anything in regards to your work, please let me or Knightmare know and we will see what we can do.

You'll only have to do the verification for your first two posts. We do that to help keep out the spambots that have plagued us in the past.

Hey thanks for warm welcoming guys.

I know how annoying bots can be. This will be my second post. So lets hope that this goes away. lol

I am still reading A short Primer for Creating an Alternate Universe! lol

WOW what a long post, but very informative and helpful. However I fear that I might have violated some of its suggestions. Mostly in terms of details.

I am working on an Alternate Universe that covers the world New Earth and the Mercenary Command that calls it home. I starting working on it and wrote it in the form of a source book to be used by my role playing group when I run this campaign. I am proof reading chapter one right now while attempting to use some of the wisdom from A short Primer for Creating an Alternate Universe.

I really hope that you guys enjoy what I have created.

The primer is only my suggestions, violate any of it if you feel you have a better way, or a way that works better for you.

Yeah I thought reading the Primer would have taken less time than it actually did. But it was very helpful with everything.

However I really wanted to build this in a different direction. What I wanted to do was to create a source book for players to my game. Or for those who wanted to look something up.

Or maybe just a Historical record of our past games.

Most importantly what I want to create is work that flows with logic. That the reader could lean back in their chair and say, "I could see that happening."

However there are some things that isn't in the BT Universe that we incorporated in to ours. I guess time and the readers will be the test.

That is how I got started Akira. Just go for it. Write down what you want and if you see something you'd like to add later on then do that. Why does everyone seem to have their own story for what goes on in the old Terran Hegemony worlds? They really seem to be a draw.  ;)

For our group, we started off on Solaris. But New Earth was chosen because aside from what was written in the original FASA Star League Source Book, there wasn't much written about this world. LOL Hack there wasn't even a Map for the world/system so we created one for ourselves. Though we overlooked a few minor details regarding the location of New Earth within the system and the name of continents.

Thank you for all your support, I did post my first chapter. I hope you all take a look at it.

Hi and welcome.

I saw your post but I didn't have the time to read it yet.
I will do it this week-end.

I really hope that everyone is enjoying the work I am putting up. I know it is coming slowly but I don't want to flood everyone with chapter after chapter of posts lol
