Many have asked over the years why the Goliath Scorpions did not survive the War of the Chosen as a coherent entity.  The answer is multifold.

One of the first targets during the War of the Chosen was Roche, capitol of the Goliath Scorpions.  The great misfortune was that a major Clan conclave was under way at the time.  The cream of the Scorpion bloodnamed, representing 70% of the bloodnamed (including both Khans and the Loremaster), were massacred via orbital strike.

While the various Galaxy Commanders and Star Colonels reeled from this news, the HPG grid collapsed.  The Scorpions found themselves in the position of having no one in authority and no way to replace them.  As such, many Scorpion commanders began looking out for the best interests of their units and the enclaves and civilians under their protection.

Chi Galaxy, a relatively new formation at the time, vanished; the three Seeker clusters disappearing into the interstellar void.  No sign of their fate has ever been found.

A massive reallocation of forces had been under way, resulting in the bulk of Alpha, Gamma and Rho Galaxies being destroyed during the Scouring of Roche.  A handful of scattered warriors lived to see the end of the War of the Chosen, but they were significantly demoralized.  Most became part of the 1st Katyusha Cluster.  The 8th Scorpion Uhlans had been off world and eventually joined forces with the Phantom Galaxy of Atrius Deleportas.  The survivors would join Clan Silver Lynx upon its formation.

Mu Galaxy was overwhelmed by Chosen forces, their antiquated equipment unable to stand up to the modern marvels of the Chosen’s Society engineers.

Beta Galaxy fell to the fighting on Strana Mechty and Marshall, the few survivors hunted down and used as test subjects in the Society’s sick experiments.

Delta Galaxy managed to maintain some command integrity, but was dragged into the internecine fighting of the Fire Mandrills.  The damaged sustained left the galaxy severely depleted (essentially a reinforced cluster), demoralized and unsupported.  When a Hell’s Horses convoy passed through the system it proved fortuitous.  The Scorpion survivors were peacefully absorbed and included in the convoy to the Inner Sphere.
