Naval Pulse Laser
« on: December 22, 2014, 09:41:44 AM »

Naval Pulse Laser
Introduced: 3094
Origin: Clan Snow Raven
Deployment: Unknown

Developed by Clan Snow Raven to supplement their heavier capital weapons with accurate weapons fire.  With additional circuitry spent on focusing the beams the weapons are more accurate than their standard variant cousins able to strike distant targets more often for the same damage.

The weapons weigh considerably more and produce more heat than their standard capital laser variants but they are able to match the damage and the weapons are more accurate at all ranges. For the larger vessel these weapons make for a tempting prospect over standard Naval Lasers.

Naval Pulse Laser NP-35    60 heat       3.5 attack value    medium range   1000 tons
Naval Pulse Laser NP-45    78 heat       4.5 attack value    long range   1200 tons
Naval Pulse Laser NP-55    93 heat      5.5 attack value    long range   1400 tons

-1 to hit all three types in all range categories
+2 modifier to small craft and aerospace fighters (-1 target modifier Naval Pulse Lasers receive has already been incorporated into modifier)

Really, as long as there is an unbroken line of people calling themselves "Clan Nova Cat," it doesn't really matter to me if they're still using Iron Wombs or not. They may be dead as a faction, but as a people they still exist. It's not uncommon in the real world, after all.

Did these a while back myself DC. Don't know if you saw them for comparison so here they are.

Naval Pulse Lasers

Availability: Clan 3068

Overview: When Clan Nova Cat was abjured by the Grand Council, one of the few Clans to help them escape were the Snow Ravens.  In exchange for assistance the    Ravens received certain territories.  These territories included a Nova Cat research facility that specialized in energy weapons. The Ravens directed these resources toward improving capital energy weapons.  Naval Pulse Lasers are the result but rumors persist that this design team is still working on further improvements.

Game Effects: Naval Pulse Lasers receive a -1 to hit large craft while in addition to being able to strike small fighters with area of affect fire. They receive a +2 to hit however because of the lasers large size. The Pulse Lasers are slightly larger, produce more heat and do slightly more damage than a standard naval laser. There are three different types; 40, 50, & 60.

Tons & Criticals: Depends on the type of Naval Pulse Laser (NPL);

Code: [Select]
Type & Name Heat Damage Tonnage Cost Range
NPL 40 60 40 800 750,000 Med
NPL 50 75 50 1,000 1,250,000 Long
NPL 60 90 60 1,200 1,500,000 Ext
