Starbug sent me 3 Avalon Blocks about 6 months ago for a ship that could appear in my AU.  I knew they'd gather some dust for a little while but that they'd get used in some way.

Eventually I think I've pieced an upgrade together taking parts from all three and a little extra on the side.

Overview
   In November 3091 the McKenna Shipyards over Kathil were
attacked by the Rycon, a Columbia-class Battleship under the control
of the Manei Domini.  During the attack the Sarah Davion (Avalon II),
which was under constuction, exploded causing extreme damage to the
shipyards putting them out of commission.
   As repairs began to the Shipyards the designers of the Avalon
and its successor class the Block II decided to start again with the Block II.
Choosing from three different redesigns eventually a compromise from all
three was chosen and hull construction began on the first three hulls as the 
shipyards were still finishing repairs to some systems.

Capabilities
   One of the earliest modifications to the Block II Avalon was
to move away from the concept of a capital missile cruiser to a more
"Battle Line" vessel with the number of AR-10 systems intially reduced
to half the original number then boosted back up to twelve.  Another
suggestion was to replace the weapons systems with Kraken Captial
Missile systems however this was rejected due to the overall cost on the
system.
   The next was to remove three of the vessel's DropShip Collars
while the vessel's own internal craft complement was improved to twenty
aerospace fighters.  A Lithium Fusion Battery Mark II was added to the
craft adding a new level to the vessel's mobility while its maneuvering
engines were retained at a top speed of three gravities.
   Replacing the "missile-cruiser" move with an array of 
eighteen heavy Naval autocannons this went well with the vessel's
mobility and heavy armour allowing the vessel to make rapid slashing
runs.  Backing up these autocannons alongside the AR-10s are sixteen
Naval Lasers.
   For anti-aerospace fighter and DropShip combat the Avalon
Block II has an array of Extended Range Large Lasers, Artemis Enhanced
Long Range Missiles Launchers and Silver Bullet Gauss Rifles.  For
defence the vessel has thirty-two advanced Laser Anti-Missile Systems.
   Finally all the changes resulted in an increase of cargo by 
1,112 tons increasing the Avalon Block II's cargo capacity to 14,962.50 
tons.

Deployment
   With the shipyards coming back online in 3095 the McKenna
Shipyards immediately started construction of three vessels the Samuel
Davion, Jackson Davion and Jennifer Davion.  All three hulls had
previously begun construction but had been halted following the
damage to the shipyards and the destruction of the Sarah Davion.
