BREAKING NEWS

INN Headquarters
New York City, North America Administrative District
Terra, Terran Hegemony
1 March 3033

According to unconfirmed reports, at 1200 ST the entire New Earth system underwent a complete quarantine. No ships are being allowed into or out of the system, even the planet's HPGs have been—allegedly—shut down. No explanation from the Director-General's office has been forthcoming, and Hegemony personnel have been tight lipped regarding the entire incident. The one Hegemony representative we did manage to speak with told INN that a number of HAF units have been dispatched to the system along with an entire WarShip division.

While we can only wonder as to why an entire star system would suddenly fall silent, the disruption of New Earth's HPGs is perhaps the most telling. Given the level of accuracy and technical sophistication required to maintain an HPG's alignment with the network, it would require extraordinary, or dire, circumstances—the cost of realignment alone is astronomical—to willingly remove an HPG from the network.

This just in...

We've just confirmed that the THS Terra and her attendant battlegroup have jumped from Terra's Nadir jump point. We're also receiving reports that the Second Hegemony Guards have left their cantonments along the Mediterranean and boarded transports now headed for what looks like Terra's L1.

INN will continue to provide updates on this extraordinary event as the story unfolds.

INN update

Official offers of disaster assistance and humanitarian aid to the people of New Earth directly from the Archon of the Lyran Commonwealth have gone unanswered by the Terran Government. Lyran aid convoys have been observed forming but have not left their perspective systems.

More details of the disaster and Terran responses to the people of their reclaimed world as they become available.
