Urizen walks into the main area of the Council Chambers, an unreadable expression on his face.

"Ambassador Yadav, you and the Free Worlds League has been locked into the path of war. May your warriors know only of victory in the coming dark days."

He bows deeply in the direction of the Free Worlds League ambassador before taking his seat.

If you may excuse me fellow Ambassadors, I would not support the call for censure against the Federal Republic of Andurien and Canopus.
What do we have here? We have a lot of people claiming they don't want to be with their former State any longer and that want to build a new future.
How is this Federal Republic different from the Free Rasalhague Republic in their quest for freedom and a new future?
If we censure them, we should all stop our wars and go back to where our nations were before this mess started.

Pausing for a brief moment and looking at the Free Worlds League and the Federal Republic Ambassadors

Both sides have been "rude" and refuse to acknowledge the claims of the other.
The Free Worlds League says this secession is an internal matter and ordered the Magistracy to stop their invasion and get out.
The Federal Republic says the Free Worlds League invaded their territories centuries ago and that they have the right to fight for their freedom and worlds.

Turning to the other Ambassadors

This leads us back to our former talks: what do we do about world or worlds wanting to become independent? What is the line for a rightful reclamation of former worlds?

Ambassador Han stands.

"Look at it this way.  If a bully takes your lunch money every day all would say he was wrong.  If one day you refuse to let him and fight back everyone would say you were in the right.  But what if you beat the bully and knew he had $50 he had taken from you over time.  If you take it after breaking his arm are you wrong, or justified?"

"Dress it up anyway you want.  Those with the might will take what they want until someone stops them.  Up until now the Federated Suns has had the might and took our worlds.  Now the tables are turned and we are taking back what was stolen from us.  Are we right to do it, or just more powerful for the moment?"

"Sadly Ambassador Han,
I would say the latter. Might has a unfortunate way of becoming right in the Inner Sphere."

Turning to the Lyran Ambassador

My dear Ambassador, what you describe is what happened since the first clans/tribes gathered and this is why we have a job.
The only way to stop wars is to have States unite but through peaceful mergers that are accepted by the majority and without any gun in their back to influence them.

"The problem my fellow ambassador is that the Magistracy of Canopus did not simply declare an alliance with the secessionist Andurien worlds – they invaded sovereign League worlds. League worlds that neither asked, nor want to be a part of their "quest for freedom and a future"."

The Marian Ambassador retorts:

"Much like the Stewart Confederation or the Magistracy of Canopus during the Reunification War. It would seem there are more than a few holes in most of the glass houses here."
