Turning to the Davion ambassador

So Sir, do you mean this whole mess came out of irrational fears?
That the Kapteyn powers are wrong in fearing the rise of a new super power and that all you ask is the right to have a safe corridor to your allies?
"History is not replete with states that stayed satisfied with their own borders, ambassador. It would therefore be inaccurate to call the Kapteyn states irrational to fear that the Federated Commonwealth alliance might one day encroach upon them. Even if the current leadership were entirely peace-loving - and as experienced soldiers, I would sincerely hope that the Archon and First Prince are not eager to send young men and women into combat and for all too many of them to their deaths - no one can predict the actions of future generations."

"I think that last year showed that belligence on the part of the Federated Suns or Lyran Commonwealth was hardly unanswerable by the Kapteyn states. Given their evident military strength I must wonder how threatened they actually are? Estimations last year suggested that between them they controlled approximately 55% of the Inner Sphere's industrial and military might and were also in receipt of substantial support from... Terran interests. It would seem that with that advantage they have elected to act aggressively. Their precise goals, thus far, have been less than clear. One presumes that military security requires obfuscation but at this time I can only speculate if their goals are anything from an attempt to break up the Federated Commonwealth agreement to outright conquest of one or both states. More probably the answer lies between but it has not yet been stated."

Thank you for these elements but I was just wondering if your words were meant to mean that this war started because of irrational fears.

Tiberius laughs

All wars have one of two causes - Irrational Fears or Rational Needs.

Sometimes they have both.

Laughing

Brilliant Ambassador.

Becoming more serious

I am concerned that so far we didn't hear the Ambassadors of the other Inner Sphere powers.
I can't believe they have nothing to say.

The Capellan ambassador stands and looks at the squabling members of the council.

"The Capellan Confederation does not support pirates.  In addition the Chancellor has asked me to read the following to you."

"Effective immediately all warships will refrain from planetary bombardment unless critically needed to save Capellan troops.  In addition all officers are accountable for the actions of their men.  All war prisoners will be treated with respect and any mistreatment will have severe consequences enforced by the code of military justice.  Any officer who allows mistreatment will be executed.  War is brutal enough without making it worse.  At the end of this conflict an exchange of all POW's is expected.  This order goes into effect April 1, 3025."

The ambassador then leaves the chamber.

Well that was......interesting.

Its a pity the Comstar ambasabor left after lecturing us, my government wanted me to ask if ComStar would be interested, in the name of improved relations, in helping us reclaim worlds lost during the succession wars due to the decline in technology.

Always a noble goal, the restoration of former worlds to the light of interstellar commerce and support.  However, what is the technical legal status of these worlds? Do they remain the property of thier former holders, or since they were abandoned, are they open to the next realm to reintergrate them?

The Draconian Ambassador excuses herself and follows the Capellan one outside.

The Outworlds ambasador looks around the chamber and sotto voice asks, 'does any one else in this august body find it odd that the 3 representitives of groups held as being most likely to be responsible for the rising violence across the inner sphere have all left the chamber?'

Excusing herself ambasador reeves also rises and leaves the chamber.

A very interesting point.
I hope our dear Outworlds Alliance ambassador did not include himself among the violent ones.
