Fourth Session of the Council of Geneva - July 3025
« on: August 28, 2012, 11:20:53 PM »

Precentor Chase enters the chamber to find the various delegates already seated at thier places.

"Welcome ambassadors to our fourth session.  I would like to welcome two new members: The honourd Ambassadors from the Principality of Rasalhague and from the Federal Republic of Andurien and Canopus. I have been informed that although the Anduriens and Canopianare part of the same delegation, they also speak independently of one another.

ComStar, by admiting the Andurien/Canopian and Rasalhagian ambassadors to this august body, recognises thier rite to exist as soverign and free nations of the Inner Sphere."

You know there is something wrong with the FWL, when Word's spell check changes Impavido to Impetigo and Zechetinu to Secretion.

The Marian ambassador, his Toga looking particularly shabby this morning, smiles at the Free Worlds League Delegate:

"Seems you have a nasty little civil war on your hands.  Be a shame if that was taken advantage of."

He then looks to the Canopian Ambassador, winks and says:

"Feel free to call on the Hegemony if you girls get into trouble."

Turned out as well as the last session, Mr. Smith stands to address the forum:

"On behalf of the Rim Commonality and Mica Majority Governments, we welcome your nations to the Interstellar Community."

Ambassador Davion nods politely to the Ambassadors from Andurien-Canopus and Rasalhague but glances in amusement at the representatives of House Marik and House Kurita.

Ambassador Han stands.  "The Capellan Confederation would like to hear from the Free Worlds League and the Draconis Combine.  Their position on the new nations means more than anyone elses."

Ambassador Holstein leans over to the Davion ambassador and whispers "I got 50 kroner the Capellans and Mariks race each other to Andurien and bring ORCA into the war?"

Ambassador Kosh looks around the room for the conspicuously absent Draconic Combine Ambassador.

"The Oberon Confederation acknowledges the creation of the Principality of Rasalhague and the Federal Republic of Andurien and Canopus, and hereby welcomes their respective Ambassadors to this assembly.

It grieves me that the Draconic Combine has not responded to any of the diplomatic offers of support the Oberon Confederation has offered to the people of the former Rasalhague Military District, and as such we extend the same offer to the new government of the region in the hopes that the people of the region will see peace and prosperity in the years to come."

The Lyran Commonwealth likewise extends recognition to both governments and hopes long, peaceful and fruitful futures for these new nations and their people.

Holstein sits down with a smile. Choke on that Theodore and Thomas, now it's payback time

Bowing to the two new Ambassadors

On behalf of the Taurian Concordat, I welcome both States.

I find it pretty funny that we were discussing about the recognition of independent worlds and States and we suddenly have two of them coming to our nice little council.

"That's about £51," James Darius Davion concludes after a moment's calculation. "I've got that much money that Liao tells Marik that if he can't keep hold of his provinces then it isn't her problem."

Smiling.

It seems that a lot of people are really interested in what will happens in the coming months.

Getting more serious

We still need to hear what Houses Kurita and Marik have to say on these matters.

An amused look drifts across the face of Ambassador Kosh as he reviews incoming data from his datapad, then stands.

"The difference a day or two makes, changes the face of the galaxy it seems.  I have been given leave to offer the following to the Principality of Rasalhague, Draconis Combine and Lyran Commonwealth."  Ticking his fingers off as he lists out the offers.

"1 - a neutral location for discussion of a resolution to the hostilities of the area.
2 - peacekeeping troops to the fledgling Principality of Rasalhague to ease the tensions between the 3 nations.
3 - search and rescue teams to worlds suffering from the results of natural, civilian or military disasters, as a result of the course of this continued war.
4 - continued support in any capacity able to the people of the region.

We do live in interesting times, I had not presumed to see such events and developments in my lifetime."  Sitting, he returns to pouring over the details of the information appearing on his datapad.

The Canopian Ambassador stands and addresses the forum:

"The girls, as so kindly referred to by the Marian Ambassador, would like to formally thank the many states who have graciously recognised the Federal Republic with such expediency.

We hope that this new realm, which will bridge the political, social and economic divide between the Periphery and Inner Sphere, can usher in a new hope for prosperity and inclusiveness in what are otherwise such dark and uncertain times.

"Feel free to call on the Hegemony if you girls get into trouble."

Turning to the Anbassador from the Marian Hegemony:

We "girls" if you and the defenders of Islington remember correctly, can hold our own quite well thankyou, but we appreciate the offer."

A smug look come across the Marian's face.

"I'm sure that's not all you hold well."

An elder man, of stately appearance, with heavy spectacles and a long and thick moustache rises, bows to Precentor Chase and then addresses the chamber:

"Honoured Ambassadors, I am Pytor Rickirk, nominated representative of the interim government of the reborn Principality of Rasalhague.  I too must thank the various states that have raised their voices in support of our tiny nation.

However, we must reserve our greatest thanks and honour for the Dragon Throne.  I would like to announce that from midnight tonight, the Principality of Rasalhague and the Draconis Combine are observing an official truce, as Coordinator Kurita has recognised our claims unconditionally.

Though I believed for many years that I would never utter such words regarding a Kurita, we must count the Dragon as a friend of Rasalhague, for his actions and continued forthright communications with our government.

However, due to fierce fighting between members of the Scandinavian People’s Army and the Internal Security Force, we, along with the Combine, request Peacekeepers.  We are of the opinion that perhaps the Oberon Confederation is best placed for such action, and that its neutral position as a non-combatant in the current war lends the Confederation an air of legitimacy as a Peacekeeper.

I thankyou on behalf of my people and welcome also the new Federal Republic of Andurien and Canopus into the interstellar community.  May both of our realms prosper.

Bowing first to the Canopian/Andurien delegation, Rickirk then turns and bows more deeply still to the Combine delegation.
