A man of Asian descent enters the chamber slowly, listening carefully to the elderly statesman from Rasalhague. The insignia-less uniform is unmistakably of DCMS origin, his once jet-black hair is graying around his temples, numerous scars crisscross his hands, and a large scar running diagonally across his face only accentuates his artificial eye.

"My fellow Councilors, I am Tai-Sho Benjamin Urizen, Coordinator Kurita personally honoured me by requesting I be his voice in this hallowed Chamber." The Samurai has a deep voice, he speaks with a distinctive British accent.

Urizen bows deeply towards the Rasalhague representative: "Ambassador Rickirk, you and the people of Rasalhague honour the Combine deeply by allowing us to extend a hand of friendship. The Coordinator thanks you for accepting his offer and allowing our peoples to work together towards a better future."

Urizen now turns to the Oberon representative "Ambassador Kosh, the Coordinator would also extend the offer for your Armed Forces to be used as Peacekeepers on contested worlds. The Dragon does realise that your Forces are currently engaged in Pirate Hunting activities. Perhaps these troops can be relieved by DCMS units, allowing your units to be used in the Principality?"

Ambassador Han stands.

"With the Dragons recognition of Rasalhague we now also welcome Rasalhague to this body.  Since house Marik has chosen not to grace our presence with a statement we must assume they also approve of the new republic of Andurien and Canopus and grant our formal recognition."

Leave it to the eagle to try and pretend bad news hasn't happened.

Opening wide his arms

I see that for now everyone is happy with the new States that have appeared here and there.
I also hear people asking for peacekeepers.

As you might remember, the Taurian Concordat moving to perform this mission as we speak and we have more troops available for this mission if requested.
However may I ask you something? Who will pay for them? I mean these peacekeeping missions might result in troops being killed, supplies being needed, weapons to be replaced and so on.
Who must pay? The State rising an unit to perform a noble mission? Someone else?

Ambassador Holstein leans over to the Davion ambassador and whispers "I got 50 kroner the Capellans and Mariks race each other to Andurien and bring ORCA into the war?"
"That's about £51," James Darius Davion concludes after a moment's calculation. "I've got that much money that Liao tells Marik that if he can't keep hold of his provinces then it isn't her problem."

"Yer on!" smiled Holstein.

An amused look drifts across the face of Ambassador Kosh as he reviews incoming data from his datapad, then stands.

"The difference a day or two makes, changes the face of the galaxy it seems.  I have been given leave to offer the following to the Principality of Rasalhague, Draconis Combine and Lyran Commonwealth."  Ticking his fingers off as he lists out the offers.

"1 - a neutral location for discussion of a resolution to the hostilities of the area.
2 - peacekeeping troops to the fledgling Principality of Rasalhague to ease the tensions between the 3 nations.
3 - search and rescue teams to worlds suffering from the results of natural, civilian or military disasters, as a result of the course of this continued war.
4 - continued support in any capacity able to the people of the region.

We do live in interesting times, I had not presumed to see such events and developments in my lifetime."  Sitting, he returns to pouring over the details of the information appearing on his datapad.

We accept the Oberonian offer of a neutral location, this would be contingent on an in-place cease fire during negotiations along the Combine-Commonwealth frontier.

The Marian Ambassador chuckles:

"The Commonwealth must be in a bad way indeed, if you are trying desperately to tack a border wide ceasefire onto a small state's independence negotiations."

Urizen stares blank at the Lyran Ambassador.

"Sir, this is a matter between the People of Rasalhague and those of the Draconis Combine. However, if you wish a cease fire, I can immediately inform my Coordinator that the LCAF is withdrawing its forces from its Front Lines."

Urizen leans back, ideally starts toying with this ballpoint pen. Thinking how he would rather be with his former unit, the cockpit of his BattleMech always seemed to be a safer place than that of a council chamber.

Holstein smiles a shark like smile at both the Combine and Marian ambassadors.

"Gentlemen, an in-place cease-fire means just that. We stop where we are. I do know they taught that much at the Sun Zhang school, Mr. Urizen?"

Urizen turns in his seat to face Holstein again.

"Ambassador, I graduated from the Sun-Tzu School of Combat. And there we were taught that if we are in a superior position, to take full advantage of the situation."

A smile slowly grew on Urizen's face.

"And I reiterate once again, this cease-fire and possible peace-keeping mission is between the Draconis Combine and the Principality of Rasalhague. Last time I looked at the Interstellar Map, there is some distance between Rasalhague and the Lyran Commonwealth, so I think this matter should remain between our two nations, and ORCA who will hopefully aid us by settling matters peacefully."

Ambassador Kosh looks amused.

"Gentlemen, we are attempting to reduce conflict in this region of space, no need for it to be stirred up here as well.

Ambassadors Urizen and Rickerk, the Oberon Confederation will support peaceful negotiations on a suitable neutral location to be disclosed only to the parties involved.  We will also supply peace keeping forces to worlds currently in conflict within the region.  We are currently preparing to launch these forces, and will be doing so within the next few weeks.

Ambassador Holstein, The Oberon Confederation will also support a ceasation of the conflict between your nation and the Draconis Combine, when both of the affected parties are ready to come to the table for the betterment of the people of the region.  Until both sides are prepared to discuss an end to hostilities, Military education continues."

Ambassador Holstein smiles and nods at Ambassador Kosh. "We thank the Oberon Confederation for their kind words and comments concerning this war of aggression. As for the comments of the Combine, one would remind the Combine that military advantages are often fleeting, and can turn in seconds..perhaps one should look into a peaceful resolution before one finds themselves in a situation they might not want to be in."

Peace Gentlemen.
No wonder we are at war all over the Inner Sphere.
Even here, we are unable to speak peacefully.

Ambassador Saul nods to the Taurian:

"It would indeed seem that within the Inner Sphere, politics is the extension of war by other means."

That's a way to see it but one would think that they might know better.
