INN report from Oberon VI

INN Newsnet, reporting from Oberon VI

King Hendrik Grimm IV addresses the Tri-Vid from a podium with a backdrop of the Oberon Eye.

"Free people of the Galactic Core.  There have been a great many challenges poised by our neighbors in recent months.  News of my demise and the absorption of the Oberon Confederation into the Lyran Commonwealth have been greatly exaggerated."

Long distance imagery of barren and desolate worlds with names superimposed (Siriwan, Hehiro, Urizen, Takiro, Minoru, Jinjiro, Yoguchi, Taragi, Shinjiro, Miyogi, Shiro), space suited astronauts and equipment moving supplies into stockpiles, with small space stations in orbit, and military dropships appearing to be in transit from jump point to and from these small space stations start to cycle on the background screen.

"To set the records straight, after observing the offensive and aggressive expansion of the Draconis Combine into worlds claimed by the periphery, I personally accompanied an elite team to inspect these new colonies named after ancient Coordinators.  They are merely modular military posts with little to no civilians on site.  In many cases they are space station supply depots orbiting around a lifeless planet.  That these marginal worlds have been named after famous Coordinators belies their true nature as temporary staging areas for a Draconis Combine offensive into the Oberon Confederation."

A map appears behind his head showing the full Oberon Confederation proudly displayed, with the glowing lizard eye in the background.

"We thank the efforts of my brother Karl Grimm in facilitating a reallocation of merchant fleet assets to support our upcoming defensive operations.  This is the source of the confusion that resulted in maps being published showing the Oberon Confederation  as a part of the Lyran Commonwealth."

"In the face of this latest blatant aggression from the Draconis Combine, we will remain free.  We are not the defenseless women and children of Reykjavik that were bombarded from orbit or the scraped together military of the noble freedom fighters of Rasalhague who were misled by broken and retracted promises of recognition and ultimately betrayed by the Draconis Combine's falsehoods and deceit."

"Should the Combine withdraw their supply depots and staging areas from long established periphery worlds, there remains hope for staving off the impending loss of life from both sides.  We watch the actions and deployments of each and every unit, so remain doubtful that the Combine seeks anything less than the death and destruction of their own troops in needless and wasteful military actions."

"I am proud to firmly state that the Oberon Confederation is a free independent nation. Free from oppression by tyrants, free from subjugation by merchant interests and we will fight to remain so with every breath.  The men and women of our military armed forces, navy and militias stand ready to once again repel the imminent invasion from any and all aggressors.  Once again these aggressors to our free people will realize that we all will fight back, that they too will bleed and that we will fight to the knife to stay free."

The image fades to a reporter discussing news reports of potential military relocation and responses to this latest build up of military forces and suspected invasion routes and the response options of the OCAF.

The Finmark Federation welcomes the Oberon Confederation's continued independence.  And support Oberon's claim of a defined periphery region without the need of Inner Sphere state intrusion.

Really, as long as there is an unbroken line of people calling themselves "Clan Nova Cat," it doesn't really matter to me if they're still using Iron Wombs or not. They may be dead as a faction, but as a people they still exist. It's not uncommon in the real world, after all.
