Second Session of the Council of Geneva - May 3025
« on: June 14, 2011, 06:17:54 PM »

The new ComStar mediator, Precentor Alvin Chase enters the room.  Chase is far more imposing than the previous mediator and looks to keep discussion on an even track.

"Esteemed Delegates, I open this, the second session of the Council of Geneva.  I would note however, that as both moderator and ComStar delegate, I will not be discussing ComStar actions outside of communications issues with anyone."

The Oberon Confederation Ambassador Simon Kosh settles in, neatly arranging his data pad and a tall beverage container.

"Welcome Precentor Chase, we all can hope for continued productive meeting topics, and discussions of the underlaying matters at hand in this time of strife."

Displaying even more daring clothes than usual, Charles-Maurice de Talleyrand-Périgord comes into the room.

Welcome Precentor Chase.
The Taurian Concordat welcomes you and hopes this session will be more productive for the good of the Inner Sphere.

A man of stiff military bearing, displaying the rank and uniform of a Tai-sa in the DCMS enters the council chamber. Clutching a modest note computer, the gentlemen quietly takes the seat meant for the Draconis Combine's representative. Ignoring the other council members, the officer simply nods to Precentor Chase, awaiting his formal introduction.

Turning towards Mr. Charles-Maurice de Talleyrand-Périgord

It's always nice to see ComStar at a loss for words. I'm sure at any moment one of Precentor Chases's Adepts will come scurrying in with knowledge of who I am and why I am here, but until then...

We understand why you are here Mr. Ambassador, we just do not understand why it was you who were chosen.

The ComStar Precentor looks to the Lyran delegate.

"Tell me, how goes the situation on andrion, now that the vote has been concluded?"

I am happy to report the vote went without incident and the planet chose to become a unincorporated protectorate of the Lyran Commonwealth. We are as per the wishes of the local populace, withdrawing the 7th Donegal Guards from the planet, and leaving a small military assistance mission of some 30 officers and men to help train the militia. We of the Lyran Commonwealth welcome the new Star Republic of Andrion to the interstellar stage and wish them a prosperous and happy future. We would warn those wishing to interfere in this new nation's affairs that we consider her an ally. Ask some of the Periphery pirate bands what we do to nations that assault our allies....

The Commonwealth is to be applauded for their efforts in promoting freedom and prosperity of those under the aegis.  It would benefit other powers to recognise this gracious course of action and attempt to emulate it as best they can.

*Snorts* Then motions to the Lyran delegate

Freedom and prosperity? Closer to profit and pillage. We've read reports detailing your "military assistance mission." The 7th Donegal Guards only left once the world's material wealth was clearly owned by warmongers from the LCAF. The assistance mission is little more than an armed coup holding the Andrion people hostage after a rigged vote.

Turns toward Precentor Chase

But ROM already told you that.

ROM speak to ROM, not even I would be foolish enough to press them for more than they are willing to offer.

i also find the sudden wish for independence by two more Circinian worlds most interesting.  Is it freedom thier nobles seek, or Lyran gold?  Once is chance, but in this case I do believe that twice could well be more than coincidence.
