What Is Battletech: Shattered Dawn?
« on: June 29, 2010, 12:34:17 AM »

"Welcome to the world of Battletech Shattered Dawn, an exciting alternate settiing for Batttletech.  Join us as we travel back to the last days of the Star League and the collapse of the Terran Hegemony.  Having been devestated by the fierce fights between the Star League Defense Forces and those of the Usurper, the Terran Hegemomy teeters on the brink of collapse.  But like the mythical Phoenix, the Hegemony is reborn as the Terran Republic, under the rule of Amanda Cameron, heir to Richard Cameron, the last First Lord of the Star League.

With the tenous peace that had existed for the last 150 years permanently destroyed, the Star League is no more. Realizing this fact, Amanda Cameron, now Amanda Sinclair, renounces her rights to that title and declares the Star League dead.  But this act does not prevent the House Lords from pressing claims to the title and dominion over the entire Inner Sphere.  Completely encircled by potentially hostile nations, the Republic must rebuild its shattered worlds and create a new military to replace the now departed SLDF.

Can the Terran Republic survive the trials that it will face in this new War of Succession?  Will the determination of her defenders and the advanced technologies left behind by the SLDF be enough to defend against 5 hostile nations? Only time will tell.

The Battletech Shattered Dawn diverges from the canon setting in one small, but very important, detail, the survival of a single heir to First Lord Richard Cameron, his daughter Amanda.  Having managed to avoid being captured by the Usurper, she is protected by the resistance until Terra is finally liberated by the SLDF.  During the liberation of Terra, she met Ian Sinclair, the acting commander of the 13th Royal Infantry Division.  Eventually the two married and founded a new dynasty, House Sinclair.  Together, they helped created the Terran Republic from the ashes of the Terran Hegemony.

In Battletech Shattered Dawn, we will follow the story of the nascent Terran Republic and its efforts to survive the on coming War of Succession.  With the existance of the Terran Republic, that war will take different paths, offering new story opportunities for GMs and players.  Through a series of fanbooks, scenario packs and tech readouts, we will explore this alternate universe for battletech.

Battletech Shattered Dawn begins in 2785, with Fanbook 1, Field Manual Terran Republic, a look at the history and structure of the new nation and its military.  Fanbook 2 - Project Phoenix is provides a look at the Terrans efforts to rebuild their shattered economy and industries, an atlas of the provinces and major worlds in the Terran Republic and a profiles of all of the major military contractors in the Republic.  Fanbook 5, Threat Assessments 2785, is a guide to the militaries and weapons industries of the 5 Great Houses just before the start of the Succession.  From here we begin to explore the Succesion War, with Fanbook 3, Mercenary Guild, which provides a look at all of the major mercenary commands operating in the Inner Sphere, and Fanbook 4 Technical Readout 2800 and guide to the ships and fleets of the Inner Sphere navies.

Future books that are currently being worked on include Field Manual Periphery 2812, which explores all of the realms, both large and small, that encircle the Great Houses and could be valuable allies for the Republic and Succession War Atlas Vol 1, a guide to the battles and campaigns of the war which is now raging across the Inner Sphere.  Also in the works are several Battlezone books.  These scenario books provide a more indepth look at important campaigns and battles, and allow players to recreate these battles in their own games.

As the timeline for Battletech Shattered Dawn progresses, new books will be added, creating a rich a vibrant setting for players and GMs."
