Gnome II Assault Battle armour.
« on: November 11, 2017, 07:13:12 AM »

An Idea I had whilst thinking about Clan Hell's Horses.  With the introduction of the Golem as well as the ongoing upgrades of the Gnome series the Bears have been keeping abreast of BA development but I think the Falcon's Ironhold would make them raise an eyebrow before promptly turning on their Scientists and going "Make something like that, but do not just copy it!"

What the Scientists came back was basically what happens if you leave a Gnome and a Golem in a darkened hangar with a big tub of Haagen Das and they like each other very much.  Faster on the ground than the standard Elemental but lacking any jumping ability the new 2-ton suit packs as much armour as the Gnome but has superior ranged firepower and endurance.

Front and center is the new BA LB-X autocannon which can cause a tremendous amount of damage, and acting as a 'support' weapon is a medium recoilless rifle.  A pair of AP mounts are fitted under the arms but the weapons are not fitted on the arms or carried in rifle like mountings. Instead they are mounted on flexible mount's on the battle armour's shoulders.  When deployed they will pan and track following the wearers eye movements and fire on voice command or physical trigger.  When not being used the weapons fold up and over the shoulders pointing down and to the rear, this reduces the height clearance problems that found many Golem equipped troops constantly banging their heads and in some cases fouling their missile launchers and limits horizontal clutter too without the fear of a long rifle sticking out in front of the battlesuit.  This would let it be used in closer confines and tight spaces.

The final layer of defence is a pair of battle claws, making the assault suit fearsome in close combat even if it cannot swarm its opponents.

One sub-variant has been produced for testing thus far and is armed with an ER Small laser as well as a flamer, whilst its sensors are linked into a light active probe allowing it to hunt for targets in built up areas. A pair of AP mounts make the suit equally fearsome against infantry without having to use its flamer, whilst a power pack keeps the energy hungry laser and flamer fed with enough power for extended firing and use.  The battle claws were retained but to fit all this, the armour was slightly reduced, but it is still proof against a gauss rifle or heavy large laser.

Really, as long as there is an unbroken line of people calling themselves "Clan Nova Cat," it doesn't really matter to me if they're still using Iron Wombs or not. They may be dead as a faction, but as a people they still exist. It's not uncommon in the real world, after all.

Where can I find the rules for this BA LB-X?
