Interceptor Spy Car

The Interceptor was designed by Dr. George Gomez a former engineer within the Team Banzai mercenary unit. Dr. Gomez upon retirement from his active role with the unit in 3042 took up an instructor position with NAIS. Shortly after beginning his tenure with the institution he was approached by members of DMI to design a successor to the Rotunda a valuable asset for their various MI agencies. The Rotunda was never available in large enough numbers for DMI needs in the field. Starting from the ground up, Dr. Gomez stepped away from the body appearance of the Rotunda which had a decidedly antique feel to its appearance and went with a more sporty feel. Taking account the necessity for numerous body kits to alter the outward appearance to other models popular throughout the Federated Commonwealth and its neighbors.

In analyzing the Rotunda and what its capabilities were he found it failed in almost every major category. Armor that couldn't even stop some high capacity sidearms let alone a hit from any modern combat vehicle it may encounter its its capacities. Little to no capacity to avoid or detect opponents. Decent firepower in some of its variants its only saving grace was the extreme speed it was capable of.

Starting with its electronics warfare packages the design team started with the integration of the Beagle Active Probe and Guardian ECM suites that had become available in the last few years thanks to the Helm Memory Core. Going from there the team boosted the armor capabilities drastically adding an additional two tons of armor to the design. The drawback of this is that the top speed of the vehicle has dropped from 146 km/h to 119 km/h. while this does lower its chances of fleeing its opponents the team felt the ability to take enough damage to stop an individual PPC strike was worth it in the end. For offensive capabilities the team outfitted the vehicle with Twin Achernar Defense Technologies Medium Lasers and a Holly Derringer SRM-2 Pack. Utilizing compartments to hide these weapons until such time as needed was a engineering challenge but allows the design to remain inconspicuous until necessary. Thinking outside of the box the team outfitted the design with a one ton chemical dispenser which can spray behind the vehicle with an effective synthetic lubricant that is able to work in most weather conditions. As an additional means of escaping most Interceptors are loaded with Smoke rounds for its Holly SRM2.

Converting an auto factory on New Avalon for this has proven an relatively easy endeavor and the new Interceptors have begun rolling off the assembly line in late 3051 spreading out throughout to Rapid Fox and other Military Intelligence teams throughout the realm.

Was bored this weekend and was reading through Wiki when I got this idea Bonus AP for someone that knows where it came frome without Googling it. Double AP for those that know the name of designer and its ties to both first AP reward and BT universe.

I really like this idea and the background for it is great :) As for the name..there's an old top down car game where you was a spy in a car and had to drive along and avoid/defeat baddies but I can't remember for the life of me what its called.
