After reading XTRO 1945, I decided to give a try to the Tiger a try but as a MBT and not as a Support Vehicle but a MBT for low on cash forces (militia, Periphery, Pirates (to defend their worlds), mercenaries...).
I made 4 designs that I will post below and I would like to know what you think of them
Some basic principles for all these tanks are slowness, heavy armour, a turret with one big gun/MG combo and a MG in the front part.
The two first are the lightest designs I could make with a Medium or a Heavy Rifle.
The two others are close to the original specifications for the Tiger (45 tons, a big gun and an average speed of 40 kph).

Got to give you props that is a good idea.

But which one is better?
Okay it will depend on the setting and a lot of thing.
Anyway, after reading again XTRO 1945, I was thinking that I could perhaps also go for a LB-10X with 2 tons of slug ammo and 1 of cluster ammo.
After all, "it was hoped [...] the Tiger I would prove its worth against both air and ground targets."
-
Too darn slow. :) That isn't the point though I know.
Good translations I feel. Particularly like the AC-10 version myself.
-
Suggestion instead of
use
Much better results easier to read and prettier ;)
Nice I'd think if upgrading to gauss if go fuel cell too seems to be engine of choice atmo

True but the Tiger was not that mobile.

I tried to do it but failed.

Fuel cell instead of ICE?
-
Yeah fuel cell is lighter than an ICE overall it's as good if not better than a fusion on vehicles because it doesn't need the extra shielding a fusion does
It also follows canon trends with two vehicles in TRO 3145 using fuel cells - and being pretty sweet designs
-
the only downside to Fuel Cells is the lack of strategic mobility compared to ICE and Fusion engines.
-
Fuel Cell can be charged from any fusion engine I bet even the gun trailers tiny engine for power could power them
You're screwed if you're a pure fuel cell force but a couple of fusions in there and the only drawback is needing to stop to fuel
-
yeah, I would never design a PDF completly around fuel cell engines. I am more inclined to use them for defensive vehicles or fire support platforms.
-

True but I thought about using railway transportations for the strategic moves.
However I did not really see a great benefit of turning to Fuel Cells Engines as I have troubles finding what to do with the few extra tons available (the what to do should be in line with the original design).
-
Strategic mobility is also only an issue in strategic games I admit. one of those things I would prefer my combat tanks to cross country, but I will airlift my artillery and LRM carriers.

Targeting comp? CASE? Additional ammo or machine guns

Perhaps a bit too advanced for my original concept but I will give it a try.
-
No such thing as too advanced when you have walking tanks of death ;D ;D ;D
