Armour on vehicles
« on: June 11, 2017, 02:48:38 AM »

What is the minimal percentage of armour you would keep for a tracked battle tank?

I can either increase the speed (from 4/6 to 5/8 and to 3/5 to 4/6) or keep the thing armoured to nearly a max.

Depends on role - the Lyran one with Gauss and PPC makes an acceptable bunker after its immobile.  What are the stats?

They are the little children of the great fathers I posted some time ago.

45t :
4/6 and 10.5t with one gun/MG in turret and one MG in Front => 5/8 with 4.5t
3/5 and 11t with one bigger gun and the same MGs => 4/6 with 6t

Oh.  I'd say 4/6 and 10.5, myself.  Have you done any research into the common speeds of the era and comparable vehicles?  Starting lower with a couple bonus features would go a long way to explaining why the next tank is an updated version of your unit rather than a competitor.

Thanks for your answer.
The period is yet to define.
Since it will be for a Periphery planet with only one factory limited in its capacity to produce bigger Tanks, my idea was to create several of these tanks evolving from Support Vehicles to more efficient Combat Vehicles with improvement of the weapons/armour (with ICE it is difficult to improve).
