The epilogue to our Vehicle contest and indeed the whole Quicksilver Program will be a big deal. A lumbering Clan Assault Tank is all that remains on the ilKhan’s to do list and I expect to see some massive Tracked monsters. Since we are going for a truly enormous war machine there is a weight minimum of 80 tons placed on this challenge. Clan Level 2 is still the tech level but I will not stop somebody out there from having fun and designing something Super Heavy. With the Main Battle Tank being recently completed and the controversy of XL Engines still fresh in the minds of many this will be a Fusion Engine only competition.

Thanks to the Diamond Shark Main Battle Tank win only the Ice Hellions remain as a viable builder for this massive Assault Tank which they are somewhat accustomed to using for defense. Of course Blood Spirit, Hell’s Horses, Star Adder, and Wolf all remain ready and willing to help on the design. These Clans are all exploring the increasing importance of Vehicles on the battlefield. Two Fire Mandrill Kindraa (Payne and Kline) also remain committed to this goal with certain Coyote scientists looking to expand their understanding of OmniTech ready to take up any design challenge.

The other Clans are less enthusiastic even though Ghost Bear and Steel Viper probably still want to undertake some kind of IIC Vehicle Program inspired in part by their experiences with the InnerSphere. These Clans would like to take existing designs either Star League or InnerSphere and upgrading them to Clan specifications. Cheaper, cost effect, showcases their cooperation with the InnerSphere if only somewhat. Both the Cloud Cobras and Snow Ravens have played politics as usual voting for the Vehicle Expansion but ultimately deciding against participation in it. These Clans currently use Vehicles in second line roles

The Nova Cats and Goliath Scorpions are both far too traditional at this time to see any value in Combat Vehicles. These Clans voted against the OmniVehicle Expansion and use such war machines only in Solhama units which many do not even acknowledge as part of their Touman. Then there are the Jade Falcons (leading the opposition), Smoke Jaguars (waste of resources), and Burrocks (hate the Blood Spirits) who are dead set against any sort of Vehicle development.

Please remember all entries must follow established Naming Conventions for Clan Vehicles meaning Gods of War should be your guide. Once again the finalized Primary Industrial Commitments for the Clans are listed below.

My only advice to you is that it is important to fill the missing gaps in the existing Clan Vehicle Force which can be seen in Technical Readout 3060. This has been a consistent theme of the Quicksilver Program I would like to see it continue here. With our objective being Assault Tanks there are only three mass categories (80 tons, 90 tons, 95 tons) which can be filled here. Filling gaps will serve to augment existing Clan designs even though they are not modular in nature.

As a counterpoint to their tactical doctrine, the Phobos is a slow defense-minded vehicle meant to augment the second-line clusters by replacing vehicles that trace their roots to the Fall of the Star League. Based on a modified Alacorn chassis and powered by the same fusion engine that powers the Wyvern IIC and Corvis battlemechs, the Phobos is a slow, well-armored vehicle centered on large weapons and meant for primarily defensive missions. Sixteen-and-a-half tons of ferro-fibrous armor give the Phobos more protection than any pre-existing vehicle or battlemech. After mounting a fixed anti-missile system, the Phobos has forty-four tons of available pod space.

The Prime configuration is based on the Alacorn and features three Gauss Rifles with six tons of ammunition and backed up by two extended range medium lasers. Alternate configuration A is long-range support vehicle based on two extended range PPCs and an Artemis IV-equipped twenty-tube missile LRM launcher. A six-tube Streak SRM launcher is the only backup weaponry. The B configuration features twin large pulse lasers and a Class 20 LB-X autocannon backed up by a pair of quad-tube Streak SRM launchers, The C configuration is anti-aircraft platform featuring matched pairs of extended range large lasers and Class 5 LB-X autocannons. These weapons are backed up a six-tube Streak SRM launcher.

The D Configuration is the dedicated missile support vehicle featuring six Artemis IV-equipped LRM launchers fed by a large twelve ton ammunition magazine. Two medium pulse lasers and a small pulse laser are the only back up weapons, The E configuration is built around ten six-tube Streak SRM launchers and a large pulse laser. An eight-ton magazine keeps the missile launchers reasonably well fed. The final configuration features two Arrow IV missile artillery systems with a huge 8-ton ammo bin. A large pulse laser and a pair of four-tube Streak SRM launchers provide secondary firepower.

Overview:
The Rudra started life in minds of the Ice Hellion scientist caste as a
resurrection of the SLDF's Fury command and control vehicle, which was long
considered a pinnacle of advanced technology in that role.

Although the chassis itself could be duplicated, the 320 engine was harder. The
only equivalent in production, the Type 10 used in the Warhammer IIC, wasn't
something readily available to the Ice Hellions. Rather than enter into
negotiations with the Diamond Sharks or Snow Ravens, the Ice Hellions exploited
existing arrangements that supported their Griffin IIC BattleMechs, obtaining
extra Consolidated 240 reactors. The smaller engine freed up tonnage for
additional systems.

Replicating the vaunted Nirasaki-400X computer systems was decided against at
the highest levels, given their role as a stepping stone to the infamous AIs
used in the Casper drones that gutted the SLDF centuries before.


Capabilities:
Although not terribly fast, the Rudra is quite sturdy with advanced armour
plating improving on the Fury's protection while requiring less weight. In
addition a fixed anti-missile system is mounted in the nose.

The Rudra focuses on long range fire, off-setting the relatively slow pace of
the tank. In the primary configuration it mounts the reliable Thumper artillery
piece in the turret, supported by a pair of LRM launchers. As additional
protection, a bay inside accomodates a Point of Elementals as an escort -
allowing them to be transported with greater security than having them on the
outside, or to double up two points.

In A configuration, the Rudra is considered a replacement for the old
Huitzilopochtli that currently provides their main artillery vehicle. Two Arrow
IV launchers are mounted, along with two medium lasers and a Streak SRM
launcher for security.

The Rudra B is a more conventional tank, with a Gauss Rifle and three SRM
launchers in the turret. The forward hull mounts a large pulse laser and LRM
launcher for added long range punch..

C configuration is primarily a missile platform with a turret of three LRM
launchers. Anyone trying to close in is in for a nasty surprise as the nose
mounted dual purpose autocannon is supported by five small lasers and to the
rear is a single SRM launcher sometimes mounting inferno missiles as an
implicit threat.

The Rudra D is intended to replace the aging Ishtar in heavy garrison units
with a pair of autocannon, pair of lasers and LRM launcher.


Deployment:
The Ice Hellions propose to use the Rudra in place of their existing Ishtar and
Huitzilopochtli tanks. Quite often this leaves them paired with Asshur
artillery spotters and Donar gunships, both of which complement the Rudra well.

Hercules

Overview:
Clan Ice Hellion Scientists after being given orders to design an Assault tank for the Quicksilver program launched a brief but rapid review of the engineering requirements.  What they found however was simple, at eighty tons a tank would move at decent pace with a good amount of pod space however its armor was light for such a slow moving vehicle.   At 100 tons to ensure maximized pod space and armor the tank would have to crawl.     To quote an ancient children's story it was believed that a ninety ton tank capable of achieving flank speeds of km/h would achieve the sweet spot of speed, armor and pod space and be just right.

Negotiations with Clan Diamond Shark were launched immediately to acquire production runs of the 270 Standard Fusion Engine, used to power the Highlander IIC.   Sensing opportunity the Diamond Sharks bargained hard but Star Captain Michelle Cage successfully won the Trial leaving the Sharks providing the Engines in exchange for 20% of production.

Engine secured Ice Hellion Scientists turned to the SLDF's stock of Assault tanks, and the Puma was quickly seized as the basis from which to start.    A somewhat flawed yet powerfully armed tank the Puma's drive train and under-chassis were perfectly serviceable which let the Scientists have a free hand building the tank from the drive train on up.       This let them shave off 5 tons in the design process and resolved many of the Puma's original issues  by removing them altogether.   

To speed up production and simplify the design of Omni tank the Stormcrow's targeting and tracking system, communications gear and armor were used.  Already under production by Clan Ice Hellion it meant no more additional equipment had to be acquired.     An initial production run of a full trinary and an additional star (handed over to the Diamond Sharks) was completed and the Hercules was quickly put through its paces.

Capabilities:
Name after the legendary Greek hero and god for his many fold mastery of the weapons of war this assault tank has a thick hide of 18.5 tons of ferro-fiberous armor while capable of keeping pace with a Direwolf.    Thirty Four tons of pod space leave plenty of flexibility to create a heavily armed weapon of war.

Hercules - Prime is patterned off of the Puma tank, whose impressive armament has kept it constant production, on the firmly sound basis of why mess with what works.   The turrets mounts an ER PPC with a pair of LRM 20s with Artemis IV flanking the main gun with 12 volleys of fire each.    A commanders machine gun is mounted on the turret as well.  Up front a SRM6 with Artemis IV feed from two tons of ammo is paired with a drivers machine gun.   An ECM suite rounds out the Prime's equipment.

Hercules - A is a dedicated close range fighter, its turret mounting an Ultra AC20 (20 rounds), with a flanking pair of Streak SRM6's (15 rounds each), an inbuilt Anti Missile System (48 rounds) along with a medium Pulse Laser.    Up front another medium Pulse laser and machine gun are free to focus on infantry while the rear is protected by a small Pulse laser and machine gun.   An ECM suite helps protect this tank.

Hercules - B is a dedicated long range duelist featuring a powerful Gauss Rifle (24 rounds) with an under-slung ER Large Laser guided by a Targeting Computer.  An Anti Missile System (48 rounds) and commanders machine gun round off the turret.  To fend off close range attackers is a front mounted Streak SRM6 (15), a drivers machine gun and an internal ECM system.

Hercules - C is designed to make a great deal of trouble for attacking Aerospace fighters with its twin turret mounted LB 10-X cannons each feeding from a ton of slug and a ton of cluster munitions each.   The forward mounted LRM20 with Artemis IV (12 rounds) is fully capable of reaching out and touching incoming ASF as well, while the duo of forward mounted ER medium lasers is deemed sufficient to help make close range attackers pay.

Hercules-D is a variant of the Prime swapping the ER PPC for a Large Pulse Laser.   In turn the lowered heat requirements allow the D model to mount an anti-missile system (48 rounds), switch the SRM 6 to the Streak model (15 rounds) and add a Targeting Computer.       

Deployment:
Having already received interest from both Clan Wolf and Ghost Bear, who have a good deal of Puma's or their remains taken as Isorla, the Ice Hellions  Warriors are in fact quite happy with the work of their Scientists.   Not enough to deploy the Hercules to front line clusters, its after all far too slow, but for its ability to bulk out Garrison clusters.

Sekhmet - A seen here alongside small child, the Arrow IV's are currently hidden behind armor panels.

Overview:

Putting together an extremely simple design build for an Assault Tank the Ice Hellions scientists focused on one single objective.   Bringing as much fire power as possible on an economical frame sporting as much armor as possible.   Using the drive train, fusion engine and indeed much of the electronics of the Mars Assault tank the Ice Hellion scientists quickly put together a design that can be charitably called a long rectangular box with a big turret on front.

Nick named the TOG during the design process for the three lead scientists ~ Triana, Orlando and George, ~ the design quickly acquired the some scathing commentary on land bound battleships.     Ignoring the often vicious commentary the TOG's scientists pressed on, delivering an omni-tank with 20 tons of ferro-fiberous armor and a whooping 48 tons of pod space.    Coming at the cost of relatively anemic speed; the TOG is able to match that of the original Urbanmech without the maneuverability of jump-jets.

Named after the Egyptian Goddess of War Sekhmet the scientists delivered their Omni tank to a rather less than warm welcome by Clan Ice Hellion Warriors.   At least that is until they got into the tank and tried out its weapon systems.   

Capabilities:

Practically a moving turret (4 tons) the Sekhmet relies upon its thick armored hide and heavy weapons to deliver the pain, not the ability to maneuver.

Sekhmet Prime mounts Triple Gauss Rifles in the turret each with 24 shots a piece.    As an after thought an ECM system is mounted internally and two ER Medium Lasers are mounted forwards.

Sekhmet A is a fire support variant with Dual Arrow IV artillery launchers (10 missiles each), with an ER PPC and LBX5 (20 slug, 20 cluster) to fend off any units trying to hunt the artillery.

Sekhmet B is a variant on the Prime swapping out two Gauss rifles for an UAC 20 (15 shots) and an LB-X20 (5 Slug, 10 Cluster) for close in fun and games!

Sekhmet C features Triple LRM20 with Artemis IV FCS (18 rounds each) with an UAC20(15 rounds) to poke holes in anyone foolish enough to come close.  Two front mounted Medium Pulse lasers will flash fry infantry, while an ER small laser guards the rear.    An Anti Missile System (24 rounds) takes care of returning missile fire

Very nice! Abele is all done and two from fitzgerald. Hopefully JPArbiter and any other interested parties will get there entries in by Midnight Eastern Time tonight. A little under 18 hours remaining!

Obviously our true purposes for this vehicle as well as it’s progenitor the Behemoth should be kept as hush hush as possible.  Still if we can boot strap an effective omnivehicle off of the united clan’s economies, that should make our overtures to the Rasalhaugian people lean a little better, qui’aff

Clan Ghost Bear had remained silent throughout the vehicular portion of the quicksilver trials, despite being noted for using both fast hovercraft and heavy tracked support in their provisional garrison clusters.  The silence should not have been mistaken for ambivalence though, and when the Leviathan Assault tank (named for one of the three primordial beasts of jewish folklore) was unveiled there was shock from those unprepared for the seemingly sleeping entrant.

Capabilities
The Leviathan is built seemingly along Generic lines and frames, while the Clan produced Mars can certainly be used, the internal workings and stations seem to be able to be configured to other 100 ton armored vehicle chassis such as the Alacorn or Puma (with some reinforcement) or even the Inner Sphere Behemoth.  The massive three ton turret permits the Leviathan to support unyielding amounts of firepower in a variety of ways, and the unique software co developed by Clan Coyote permits not only “True” Omni pod mountable equipment to be utilized, but any off the self compontents from any manufacture by the Inner Sphere or Clan, making the Leviathan a true “Open Source” Vehicle for PGC Commanders who often have to beg, borrow, or steal resources to stay equipped.

The Primary Configuration of the tank is an example of Rolling Thunder at it’s finest.  The turret supports a pair of older Galaxy series Gauss Rifles while the large pulse lasers and SRM 4 packs that supplement the Gauss are taken from Viper and Executioner configurations.

Alternate Configuration A is a close range Destroyer with Twin Ultra 20’s and borrowed from the Bears own production of Huncback IICs  again laser and Missile weapons were adaptaded from Dasher, Viper and Executioner Stores.
Alternate C is a close range defense tank inspired by the Ontos with Ten different medium lasers mounted in a turret and two LRM 10 packs suppliementing.  To prove the true open source software the lasers selected were from each individual clan as well as two old Star Leauge model lasers and a Defiance B3M that is currently manufactured on Hesperus II.  Ideal future deployments of this configuration (if it is more then a proof of concept) would be more uniform in it’s equipment.

The last configuration of the Leviathan address a concern brought up repeatedly by Star Commanders and Star Captains to their superiors and often ignored.  Clan Warfare does not work against the Inner sphere, in part because Clan Warfare is built for short, brutal decisive battles, often at ranges the inner sphere can compete against.  While the initial shock of long range harassment fire from ERPPCs and Large lasers scattered across a star might have shocked the Kungesarmes and DCMS, eventually they learned to counter the opening gambits with wider deployments and draw in Bear and Jaguar assaults.  Likewise the Quickly reveloped ERPPCs as well as the liberal use of lighter autocannons made counter harassment fire an easier proposition.  The Leviathan C Takes this into consideration by placing 4 large pulse lasers into a single low profile tank permitting it to lay down accurate indefinite fire from fixed positions, allowing more mobile forces to advance.  In a defensive role, a point of Cs create a choke that absolutely MUST be dealt with and has even proven threating enough to low flying aircraft

Deployment
As with other Bear entrants into Quicksilver, Deployment is not a matter of if, but when.  while they have been mum as to where they have obtained the chassis for thier concept vehicles  the Bears still presented a full Trinary of each configuration at the proving grounds for both military and techincal demoistration, proving that the Leviathan is fully operational and ready to deploy.
