Overview:
After a decade of experience with the Artemis Heavy Support Tank, the RWA saw the need for a lighter, more mobile support tank that could keep up with the Artemis and other RWA AFVs. The Artemis while successful, was simply to slow for offensive operations.  Republic Arms, the manufacturer of the Artemis began developing  scaled down version of the Artemis.  After several years and numerous prototypes, Republic Arms introduced the Hades Support Tank.

Capabilities:
While the Artemis Heavy Support Tank was designed to provide large volumes of fire from a single vehicle, the Hades was intended to be deployed in large groups.  Each Hades carries a single Marklin Large 20 Tube LRM launcher, which when deployed in a lance of 4 vehicles provides significant fire support for the RWA’s armored forces.

The biggest shortcoming the Hades weapon systems is the lack of any secondary, short range weapons.  The high speed of the Hades helps to compensate for this problem, as the it is capable of out running most medium and heavy AFVs.  The biggest threat is from hover tanks which are able to quickly close with the Hades and get under the range of the LRM.  Typically a few tanks or other AFVs are assigned to Hades units to provide close in defense.

Deployment:
The Hades was typically deployed in company and battalion sized barrage units.  During battles the Hades would provide a hail of missile fire covering the advance of the RWA’s Athena Tanks.  During the Reunification War, the SLDF soon learned to counter the Hades with large numbers of fast hover tanks and light mechs.  Large numbers of Hades were lost during the campaign, but enough survived the Hades remained a common sight in the RWA during the Star League era.
