The tank design tryptic
« on: March 14, 2024, 07:10:46 PM »

I was looking at tank designs and wondered what is according to you the most important part (or the lest important one) of the design tryptic between speed, armor and firepower.

Depends upon what kind of tank your talking about. Main Battle? Light? Hover? Wheeled?

True. I was thinking about making on a successor for the Estevez that wouldn't be the Tiger and I managed to make a slow one with more protection and an almost firepower to the Tiger.

And I have been going through some similar/lighter designs focusing on real world tanks and I wanted to know if they would be viable in CBT as it has been years since I have used a combat vehicle in game.

What kind of Cannon are we basing this tank design on?

And real world consideration may make conventional vehicles a local planetary problem because of specfic environmental issues.

For the real world, I thought about different ones but this isn't my point here (although they were all rather slow).

For the Estevez, I had no cannon except thinking why wouldn't its producer try to make a successor to its own tank? I will try to write some fluff and post it.

Ok, look forward to it.

I think it would be cool for a militia arms market to exist where worlds with similar environments buy armaments that best serve their local needs.

I looked at Technical Readout 3026 today and there are a few contenders like the Scorpion and Vendette. How would these designs fit with your vision??

The new art for the Scorpion is cool.
The Scorpion doesn't fit or should I say it is average everywhere.

The Vedette is way too speedy and pays it on the two other items.

I thought I responded here earlier. Hmm...

There is no design that uses an AC/2 as it's primary weapon. If you made a light tank under 30 tons which is fast enough to get to threats and has the reach of an AC/2 it could have value. I know not a lot of stopping power but vehicles unlike Mechs are vulnerable or more vulnerable to Critical hits.

True but they are way cheaper and could be deployed "en masse".

I will try to write the fluff for my ... design.
