==Overview==
In attempt to reduce the dependence of the MAF upon imported
hardware, the Magestrix of Canopus commissioned Majesty
Metals to develop a heavy tank to be used to protect their
relative handful of industrial cities.

==Capabilities==
Majesty Metals started with a thirty-ton turret to carry a
powerful railgun and advanced autocannon combination. In
order to balance the vehicle they concluded that the chassis
would have to be at least twice as massive. To power this,
they opted for a Pitban 285 Fusion Reactor, providing it
with a top speed comparable to vehicles twenty tons lighter.

To protect this investment, Majesty Metals wrapped the frame
in more than twenty tons of armour. In testing, the Unicorn
prototype was left immobilised and crippled on several
occasons but impressively never suffered irreparable damage
to the structure.

Lacking secondary weapons, the Unicorn functions best when
operating alongside infantry forces.

==Deployment==
MAF Unicorns are destined for assignments to armour
battalions on key industrial worlds but the design has been
licensed to the Outworlds Alliance.

Nice I'm trying to do a similar tank for the AFFC circa 3050s but I was going to use an ER PPC instead of the LB-10X

I considered an energy weapon since there are those heatsinks in the engine going spare, but really, I didn't want to cut anything else and I really wanted the Gauss/LB-X combo. Should compare adequately against things like the Challenger X - and it's sure as hell a lot cheaper.

I kind of had my heart set on the ER PPC/Gauss combo but haven't done any work on it yet so we will see. Now that you mention it this design of mine is actually replacing the Challenger X. I'll have to see how it compares to yours. You did a nice job! ;)

Unfortunately Ice that tech is unavailable to me at this time.  :'(

Testing on the battlefield of MegaMek has given me great appreciation for the LB 10-X. Against tanks, open with cluster to imobilise and then standard to hammer weakspots once you can pick locations. Against mechs use standard to open holes and cluster to crit-seek. Pairing it with the Gauss Rifle gives it that little extra reach'n'breach to hammer through.

As a test, I balanced a battle by C-bill not BV. 4 Alacorns and 4 Challengers against an equivalent price tag of Unicorns and Tricorns: 12 Unicorns and 10 Tricorns. The butcher's bill was 1 Unicorn destroyed, 2 Unicorns and 2 Tricorns immobilised. All eight of the more expensive tanks were killed.

It may not have gone the same way if it was balanced numbers of tanks: the Challenger secondary weapons would probably tip the balance. Then again, the Unicorn does have half agan as much armour...

The RAC/5 is indeed a savage, savage weapon. I'm less fond of UACs.

However, the flexibility of the LB 10-X has thus far made it my steadfast favorite for this sort of work.

If a Canopian woman is old enough for military service, it's possible but unlikely that she is a virgin.
