It's been a while since I attempted to fluff out a design, but with my renewed interest in getting my AU restarted I am going forth once more onto the written battlefield of words, be aware, my AU is partially based on the Star league, and no way connected to the canon universe, my AU's contact with the mainline ends roughly around 2780-85, ie no jihad/dark age, ore silly things like the succession war's.
ps the time stamp on th design is only to reflect when the design was built as a way for regular folks keep tab on time lime, once established better I will be using something similiar to the Marine Corp's way of tracking the years ie when first established and going from there.

==Overview:==
While the ships of the 12th Top Secret Special Operations Group where among
the most advanced and powerful designs produced by the Star League until the
incident known as the Crossing flung them into the Alternate Universe known
simply as the Realms which were more of a earlier technology level compared
to the far more mature technological 12th TSSOG, yet due this factor the 12th
in
order to expand it's forces as it made a home for it self in the area known
as the ghost rift, a minor stellar cluster of 500 stars that was located
over
1000 light years from the realms proper, the decision was made that all the
advanced LF Battery equipped vessels would be solely assigned to the main
Battle fleet of the 12th, and that all future construction of vessels while
incorporating all a majority of the 12ths tech base would not be LF or HPG
equipped in order to both conserve and lower resource costs for the outer
fleet as the new ships was referred to.
The Alicorn class Battlecruiser is one of the larger Outer Fleet warship
designs, heavily armored and armed and with a speed unmatched by few ships of
the Alicorn's size, the Alicorn became the principal heavy hitter of the Outer
Fleet, along
with the class's Fast Carrier and Light Cruiser Escorts became the defacto
battle squadrons that was called upon the engage the Realms slowly expanding
frontier fleets and dissuade them from intruding upon the 12th's territory,
only the slower but more massively armed and armored Chimera class Battleship
based upon the McKenna's hull design and incorporating weapons from both it
and the Black Lion class BC is a more potent war machine, but with the
preference for fast moving and hard hitting ship types such as the Alicorn,
the larger and slower ships of the Outer Fleet are not built in large numbers,
so it is not uncommon to see the Outer Fleet's battleline filled with
Alicorn's BC's instead of the more traditional Battleship.
The origins of the Alicorn stem directly from the creator and commander of
the 12th's infamous Task Force Furious Commander, Admiral Hinata Travis.
Admiral Travis was formerly a Commodore of the Star League and commanded a
Destroyer Flotilla in the 12's main battlefleet acting as both escort and
attacker when the main Battleline of the 12th's massive Farragut II
Battleships engaged the enemy, after ten years of such duty the then Commodore
approached the 12ths Commanding Officer and with his permissions and budget
approval, brought about the Furious and Thunderer class of Fast Large
Carrier's and Battleship's which the Alicorn while smaller is directly
influenced by those designs.
==Capabilities:==
The Alicorn Class much like her ancient wet navy forebears was designed to
chase down anything smaller than it but also outrun anything bigger than it,
but unlike the thin shelled ancestors or more modern versions the Alicorn is
meant to survive with a structural integrity rating class of 110 and carrying
over 2000 tons of advanced Lamellor Ferro-carbide armor, the Alicorn is as
well protected as Star League Texas class Battleship while being able to
withstand nuclear strikes that the earlier design was not able to.
Armed with engaging or disengaging from the enemy, the Alicorn's weapons
reflect this role armed with six NAC/30's on both it's Right Front and Left
Front aspects, the Alicorn can delivery a heavy blow to its targets, even when
turning away from its target the Alicorn can continue the barrage with it's
Aft Right and Aft Left mounted NAC/30's which are the same number of it
forward facing ones.
To provide the ship with a measure of long range firepower the installation
of forty NL-45's was added, these was used mostly in the Anti Dropship and
anti escort role, but would be switched to the Anti ship role when faced
against a determined and tough opponent.
Last among the Long Range Capital weapons are the sixteen Killer Whale
launchers than can be used in the anit fighter, anti missile and anti ship
role's, what is normally not mentioned even among the 12th's cadre is the
weapons nuclear assault option, the distaste of such weapons from the Age of
War is still strongly felt to this day.
For conventional weapons in the anti fighter and dropship role, the Alicorn
is outfitted with a array of one hundred and thirty six ER PPC's providing
much needed defense in the evolving battlefield.
Last among the weapons is the array of thirty two Anti Missile launchers, to
provided last ditch protection from both conventional and capital based
missiles including most importantly the nuclear armed ones.
To provide protection from enemy fighters ut of the reach f it's own weapons,
the Alicorn is equipped with 36 fighters for combat operations, eight small
craft are also assigned to the ship for various duty’s such as inflight
refueling, search and rescue and even boarding duty’s with the Alicorn's 56
man marine unit.
The Alicorn is also equipped with four dropship's, two of which are Pentagon
II assault ships, and the other two being Raptor CV's which provide the
Alicorn with another 72 fighters for combat.
==Notable Vessels & Crews:==
The most famous ship of the Alicorn's is the BCNS Black Unicorn, this ship
always seems to be on the spot for when the Realms attempted to launch
spoiling raids into the Ghost Rift, each time the Black Unicorn and her escort
group have either detected or stumbled upon such incursions, as such the ship
and her escorts are among the most experienced among the Outer fleet's combat
unit's unfortunately the group as a whole is in sore need of extensive refit,
plans are in the works to rotate the unit back to the Ghost Rift Prime naval
station for the R&R period for the ship's group and also much needed R&R for
the human portion of the ship.
